CEDARVILLE, Ohio (2-22-2001) -- Freshman guard Josh Gast and junior forward Curt Fleck have been recognized with post-season honors from the American Mideast Conferece. Both players were named to the honorable mention listing. Gast, a 6-foot-3 rookie from Prospect, OH, was also selected to the five-player All-AMC Freshmen Team. He averaged a team-high 14.5 points per game and was the only player on the squad to start all 30 games. Fleck, a 6-5 performer from Riverton, IL, ranked second in scoring with 13.6 ppg. RIO GRANDE, Ohio (2-17-2001) -- American Mideast Conference leader Rio Grande put an end to the season for the Yellow Jackets with an 84-71 victory. Cedarville led by as much as ten points in the first half, but the two teams were tied 42-42 at the intermission. CU opened up a 47-43 advantage before Rio scored the next nine points to take the lead for good. Andrey Arkhipov finished with 15 points for the Jackets, Barry Chamberlin had 14, and Greg Guiler tossed in 13. [STATS] |
