May 24-26, at NAIA Outdoor Championships
Sergio Reyes placed second in the 5,000 meters in school-record time and was third in the 10,000 meters while Mike Marsh was fourth in the decathlon as both athletes earned All-America status at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The top six finishers in each event are considered All-Americans. Reyes was clocked in 14:22.18 in the 5K breaking the previous school mark of 14:28.50 first set by Brian Hull in 1978 and equalled by Tom Hill in 1986. Earlier in the meet he finished third in the 10K in 30:45.60. In the decathlon, Marsh was in second place after the first day of competition with 3,559 points as he won the high jump (6-7), tied for second in the long jump (6.73 m), was sixth in the shot put (37-3.5), seventh in the 400 meter dash (52.05), and eighth in the 100 (11.73). On Day 2, he remained second upon finishing fifth in the 110 meter hurdles (16.02) and second in the discus (126-10). Marsh ended up fourth overall with 6,477 points by placing 12th in the pole vault (11-1.75), 10th in the javelin (142-5), and 10th in the 1,500 meters (4:52.74). [COMPLETE RESULTS]

May 12, at Indiana Invitational
Jody Fox met the NAIA automatic qualifying mark in the 3,000 meter steeplechase at the Indiana Invitational. He placed fifth with a time of 9:28.50. Sergio Reyes finished second in the 3,000 meter run in 8:19.37. [COMPLETE RESULTS]

May 3-5, NCCAA NATIONALS
Eddie Nehus, Mike Marsh, Sergio Reyes, and Carl Traub each won an event at the NCCAA Track & Field Championships where the Yellow Jackets placed fourth as a team. Greenville won the team title with 173 points and was followed by Malone, 133; Taylor, 127; and Cedarville, 122.5. Nehus won the 800 meters for the fourth consecutive year with a time of 1:54.67 and Marsh piled up an NCCAA and school-record 6,551 points to win the decathlon by 113 points. [DECATHLON RESULTS] Reyes finished first in the 1,500 meters in 3:57.93 and Traub's winning heave in the hammer was 158-feet 10-inches. Nehus, Ken Loescher, Cliff Reynolds, and Eric Yearley were all recognized as NCCAA All-America Scholar-Athletes. [FINAL RESULTS]

April 28, at American Mideast Conference
Cedarville won only six events, but it was enough for the Yellow Jackets to capture their first American Mideast Conference championship since 1994. Paul Orchard was tabbed AMC Coach of the Year. Sergio Reyes won both the 1,500 meters (3:59.56) and the 5,000 (14:58.0) to lead the way. Mike Marsh was victorious in the long jump (20-10¾) and Jody Fox outran the field in the 10K (32:49.20). The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Cliff Reynolds, Andy Paugh, Drew Nelson, and Eddie Nehus won in 3:21.90. Also winning was the 4 x 800 meter relay quartet of Ken Loescher, Josh Mark, Justin Whitaker, and Drew Nelson with a time of 8:10.8. [COMPLETE RESULTS]

April 21, at Indy Relays
Eddie Nehus won the 800 meters and Sergio Reyes took first place in the 5,000 meters at the Indy Relays hosted by Butler University. Nehus' winning time was 1:53.47 while Reyes toured the 5K in 14:45.44. Andy Paugh placed third in the high jump and met the NAIA provisional qualifying mark by clearing 6-feet 7½-inches. April 14, at Miami Invitational
Eddie Nehus placed second in the 800 meters and Sergio Reyes was third in the 5,000 meters running against NCAA Division I compeition at the Miami (Ohio) Invitational. Nehus turned in a time of 1:54.23 while Reyes met the NAIA automatic qualifying standard in the 5K with a 14:52.72 effort. The Yellow Jackets placed seventh out of eight schools in the event which was won by Western Michigan. [COMPLETE RESULTS]

April 6-7, at Northwest Ohio Classic
Eddie Nehus won the 800 meters and Mike Marsh was the decathlon champion at the Northwest Ohio Track & Field Classic hosted by the University of Findlay. Nehus won his race in a time of 1:55.41 while Marsh racked up a school-record 6,207 points in the ten events to win his event. Sergio Reyes was second in the 5,000 meters in 15:05.53. Third-place showings came from Steve Wakefield in the 10K (33:07.87), Cliff Reynolds in the 400 meter hurdles (55.60), and Wes Stephens in the javelin (158-6). [COMPLETE RESULTS]

March 31, CEDARVILLE OPEN
The Yellow Jackets had three individual winners and one winning relay team at the Cedarville Track & Field Open. Cliff Reynolds won the 400 meter hurdles in 54.97 seconds, Mike Marsh was victorious in the long jump at 22-feet 3¾-inches, and Andy Paugh won the high jump at 6-feet 3-inches. CU also took the 4 x 800 meter relay in 8:10.90. Elsewhere, second-place finishes came from Sergio Reyes in both the 1,500 and 5,000 meter runs, Eddie Nehus in the 800, Ben Evenson in the pole vault, and the 4 x 400 meter relay. [RESULTS]

March 22-24, at Florida State Relays
Sergio Reyes met the NAIA automatic qualifying mark in the 10,000 meters with a time of 31:29.88 that placed fifth at the Florida State Relays. Josh Mark was third in the 3,000 meter steeplechase (9:38.81), Cliff Reynolds finished fifth in the 400 meter hurdles (55.03), and Eddie Nehus placed sixth in the 800 meters (1:53.70). In Division II competition, Nehus won the 1,500 (3:57.66) while Steve Wakefield won the 5,000 meters (15:31.59). [RESULTS]

March 2-3, at NAIA Indoor Championships
Mike Marsh, Eddie Nehus, and Sergio Reyes each earned All-America honors and paced the Yellow Jackets to a 13th-place finish at the NAIA National Indoor Track & Field Championships. Marsh scored 3,480 points in the pentathlon which includes the 55 meter hurdles, long jump, shot put, high jump and 1,000 meter run. Nehus, a two-time outdoor All-American in the 800 with back-to-back third-place finishes, acheived the indoor recognition for the first time with another third-place showing in 1:52.82. Reyes was second in the 5,000 meters in 14:53.09. Those finishes gave CU 20 points which put them 13th among the 44 teams that scored. [RESULTS]

Feb. 23, at Denison Invitational
Andy Paugh was the Yellow Jackets only individual winner by taking the high jump competition at the Denison Indoor Invitational. His winning effort was 6-feet 6-inches. Paugh also placed third in the 55 meter hurdles in 8.12 seconds. Mike Marsh was sixth in the shot put at 39-feet 1½-inches and Ken Loescher was sixth in the 1,500 meters in 4:07.65. The distance medley relay squad of Josh Mark, Cliff Reynolds, Eddie Nehus, and Sergio Reyes was a winner with a fieldhouse record time of 10:17.53. [RESULTS]

Feb. 16, at Ohio Northern Invitational
Eddie Nehus won the 800 and 1,500 meter runs to pace Cedarville to a second-place finish at the Ohio Northern Indoor Invitational. Wilmington won the 13-team meet with 115 points and was followed by the Yellow Jackets with 83 points and host Ohio Northern with 60. Nehus took the 800 meter title in 1:58.68 and won the 1,500 with a time of 3:59.64. Sergio Reyes won the 5,000 meters in 15:18.70 while teammate Jody Fox was 2nd in 15:26.43. Cliff Reynolds was 2nd in the 500 meters (1:07.93) and Josh Mark finished 2nd in the 1,000 meters (2:35.74). Mike Marsh qualified for the NAIA pentathlon with 3,419 points. [RESULTS]  

Feb. 10, at All-Ohio Championships
Sergio Reyes was victorious in the 5,000 meter run and Cedarville won the NAIA division of the All-Ohio Championships. The Yellow Jackets finished with 90 points and was followed by Malone with 72, Central State, 42, Wilberforce, 10, and Tiffin, 0. Reyes met the NAIA qualifying mark with his winning time of 15:17.6. Eddie Nehus was 2nd in the 800 in 1:54.62; Jody Fox met the NAIA automatic qualifying standard in the 3,000 meters after finishing 7th in 8:47.17; and Carl Traub placed 8th in the 35-pound weight throw with an NAIA provisional qualifying mark of 48-feet 4-inches. Feb. 10, at Denison Invitational
While qualifiers were competing at the All-Ohio Championships,most of the squad participated at the non-scoring Denison Invitational where Mike Marsh won the high jump title by clearing 6-feet 4-inches. Josh Mark was 3rd in the 1,500 meters in 4:08 while Adam Hall placed third in the 3,000 with a time of 9:03.13. [RESULTS]

Feb. 3, at Kent State Open
NAIA All-American Eddie Nehus won an indoor 800 meter title for the second straight week by claiming the event at the Kent State Open in 1:51.55 - the fastest time in the NAIA nationally this winter by more than two seconds. Entering the weekend, the senior from Gallipolis, Ohio ranked fourth in the country with a 1:54.54 clocking he used to win at Findlay the previous week. The victory at Kent scorched the NAIA's best mark to date of 1:53.60 set by Michael Kamami of Central Methodist (Mo.). Andy Paugh placed 7th for the Yellow Jackets in the high jump by clearing 6-feet 4-inches. Jody Fox was 15th in the 5,000 meters, but his time of 15:19.07 met the NAIA qualifying mark of 15:24. Jan. 27, at Findlay Classic
Eddie Nehus won the 800 meter run in 1:54.54 to highlight Cedarville's showing at the Findlay Classic. Cliff Reynolds was 5th in the 600 meters (1:22.90), Jody Fox finished 5th in the 3,000 meters (8:50.44) while teammate Sergio Reyes was next (8:52.62). Mike Marsh placed 5th in the pentathlon with 3,257 points and the distance medley foursome of Josh Mark (1,200 meters), Drew Nelson (400), Eddie Nehus (800), and Justin Whitaker (1,600) was 4th in 10:32.39. Jan. 19, at Ohio Northern Invitational
Cedarville opened the indoor portion of their 2001 schedule by winning the seven-team Ohio Northern Indoor Track & Field Invitational. The Yellow Jackets had 123 points and were followed by Findlay, 115, and host Ohio Northern, 95. Eddie Nehus won the 800 (1:56.90) and 1,500 (4:12.84) meter runs as the distance runners paved the way to victory. Josh Mark finished first in the 1,000 meters (2:36.61) and Jody Fox claimed the 5,000 (15:41.90) in a meet record time. [RESULTS]
