Steve Wakefield is in his fourth cross country season with the Yellow Jackets.....finished among the team's top four finishers in all eight meets last fall.....Rio Grande Invitational champion.....also the team's top runner at the Midwest Collegiate and the Friendship Invitational.....had five times under 27:00 including a career-best 26:16 for the 8K at the NCCAA Nationals where he placed 21st overall.....competes in the 5,000 meter run during the outdoor track season.....Placed 2nd in the AMC 5,000 and was 4th in the event at the NCCAA Nationals last spring.

1998 - Ran in all ten varsity meets as a sophomore and was among Cedarville's top four finishers in all but one outing.....made the American Mideast Conference Team by placing 7th in 26:46.....posted a season-low 26:33 at the Rio Grande Invitational where he placed 8th.....had six times under 27:00.

1997 - Competed in four varsity meets as a freshman.....finished in a season-low 27:18 at the Friendship Invitational.

High School -- Earned four letters in track and two in cross country at Southwestern High School.....received the Chautauqua County Sportsmanship Award as well as the Scholar-Athlete Award.....member of county track championship team.

Personal -- Dean's List student as a Mechanical Engineering major at Cedarville University.....born 7/2/79.....son of Mr. Harry Wakefield and Mrs. Gail Wakefield.....has one older sister.
