2000 Meet Recaps Nov. 18, NAIA NATIONALS Cedarville ran to an eighth-place finish at the NAIA Nationals which was one spot better than their final ranking in the Top 25 poll. Sophomore Erin Nehus earned All-America recognition (top 30 finishers) for the second straight year by placing 16th out of 248 runners in 18:52 for the 5,000 meters. Others to score for the Lady Jackets were Sarah Roberts (54th; 19:36), Jennifer Roman (63rd; 19:41), Corrie Grigorenko (78th; 19:53), and Jennifer Nikerle (92nd; 20:01). [COMPLETE RESULTS] Nov. 11, NCCAA NATIONALS The Lady Jackets narrowly missed out on their fourth NCCAA championship after running to a first-place tie with Spring Arbor at John Bryan State Park. Cedarville, ranked No. 9 in the NAIA, and the No. 12 Cougars tallied 72 points each while No. 7 Northwest WA had 76 in the 18-team field. However, Spring Arbor won the tiebreaker by virtue of a higher finish by their number six runner. Erin Nehus (3rd; 18:38) and Sarah Roberts (9th; 18:52) garnered All-America honors by placing in the Top 15. Others scoring for the Jackets were Jennifer Nikerle (18th; 19:17), Corrie Grigorenko (22nd; 19:22), and Jennifer Roman (24th; 19:31). Grigorenko was named an All-America Scholar-Athlete which recognizes juniors and seniors with a minimum 3.40 cumulative grade point average. Cedarville placed fifth in the NCCAA Scholar-Team category with a combined 3.41 GPA. [MEET WEBSITE] Nov. 4, at American Mideast Conference Cedarville swept the American Mideast Conference and NAIA Region IX championships. The NAIA No. 10 Lady Jackets registered 40 points in the AMC portion while runner-up No. 25 Walsh had 47. Defending national champion and No. 18 Malone was third with 49 points. Erin Nehus (4th; 19:17) paced three Cedarville runners on the all-conference team (top seven finishers). She was joined by Sarah Roberts (5th; 19:23) and Jennifer Roman (7th; 19:49). It was the first region title and sixth conference championship for Cedarville, but their first AMC title in four years. Cedarville totalled 25 points to easily outdistance runner-up Hanover (74) as well as host and third-place Wilmington (96) in the 14-team field. Erin Nehus covered the 5,000 meters in 19:05 to place third. Others scoring for the Jackets were Sarah Roberts (4th; 19:06), Jennifer Roman (6th; 19:40), Corrie Grigorenko (7th; 19:41), and Jennifer Nikerle (10th; 19:49). Oct. 13, at All-Ohio Championship Cedarville placed ninth overall and won the college division at the All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championships. The Jackets totalled 241 points and seven of the eight teams ahead of them in the 36-team field were NCAA Division I schools. Erin Nehus led the way in 20:00 for the 5K course to place 21st out of 249 runners. [SEE COMPLETE RESULTS] Sept. 30, at Greensboro Invitational Erin Nehus and Sarah Roberts finished 1-2 to pace the Lady Jackets to the 14-team Greensboro Invitational championship with 36 points while runner-up West Virginia Wesleyan had 72. Nehus covered the 5,000 meters in 18:52 while Roberts was timed in 18:57 for the NAIA's No. 8 ranked team. Sept. 23, FRIENDSHIP INVITATIONAL The Lady Jackets posted an impressive victory in winning their own Friendship Invitational for the first time in five years. Cedarville registered 42 points to outrun second-place Findlay, who finished with 61 points, and Wright State, who tallied 70. Erin Nehus took third place overall in 19:19 for the 5K John Bryan State Park course to lead four Lady Jackets in the top ten. Others scoring for Cedarville were Sarah Roberts (6th; 19:37), Corrie Grigorenko (8th; 19:45), Jennifer Nikerle (10th; 19:48), and Heidi Wright (15th; 19:55). [COMPLETE RESULTS] Sept. 16, at Midwest Collegiate Championship The Lady Jackets made an impressive showing at the Midwest Collegiate Championships upon finishing 6th of 30 schools with 178 points. Calvin was the winner with 82 points. Cedarville is preseason ranked No. 17 in the NAIA. Erin Nehus placed 18th overall in 19:08 for the 5,000 meters. Sept. 2, at Rio Grande Invitational Cedarville took the first five places and nine of the first 11 in easily winning the Rio Grande Invitational. The Jackets had 15 points, Rio 48, and Ohio Valley 75.
