Kurt Hopkins received a wealth of playing experience his rookie season and will be expected to make a big contribution in his second year.....batted .290 in 36 games with a team-high eight doubles, one triple, 17 RBI's, and 11 runs scored.....33 of his 34 starts were at shortstop where he turned in a team-high 71 assists in the field.....had six multi-hit games, including a pair of three-hit efforts, and twice drove in three runs.....had a season-high six-game hitting streak.....made six pitching appearances posting an 0-2 record with a 4.09 ERA.....will be moved to center field this season. High School - Garnered 11 letters during his prep career in baseball, basketball, and football at Rockville High School.....pre-season all-state first team selection, who was twice named all-state honorable mention.....two-time team batting champion with a career-best .505 season average.....team MVP in basketball and three-time all-conference selection on the hardwood.....conference scoring champion as a sophomore.
