Baseball Fact
The Yellow Jackets possess what is, arguably, the finest baseball field in the American Mideast Conference. The facility, designed and built by athletic director Pete Reese, was opened in the fall of 1999.

Jackets rip Asbury, 16-2, on Senior Day
CEDARVILLE, Ohio (5-4-2002) -- Cedarville honored its five graduating seniors and then scored seven first-inning runs en route to a 16-2 non-conference win over Asbury in the home finale. Scott VanDerAa, who began the season as CU's all-time leader in innings pitched, allowed four hits in six-plus innings while improving his record to 5-4. He ends his career with 269 1/3 innings to his credit. Fellow classmate Chad Hofstetter was 2-for-3 with a pair of sacrifice flies, two doubles, two runs scored, and four RBI's. The other seniors also produced as Drew Bennett had two hits with two runs scored, Bryan Mangin had a hit and scored twice, and Ben Saturley added a hit. Forest Greetham and O.J. Skiles each had two hits to aid the Jackets' 15-hit attack. [GAME BOXSCORE]

Rio Grande takes two from Jackets
RIO GRANDE, Ohio (5-2-2002) -- The American Mideast Conference season came to a close with Rio Grande winning two games from Cedarville, 6-2 and 4-3. The Redmen never trailed in either contest jumping out to a 4-0 advantage in the opener. CU cut the deficit in half on RBI doubles from Jon Oren and Jeff Lowe in the fourth inning before Rio completed the scoring. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] The hosts scored the first four runs of the nightcap as well, and a Jacket rally fell short. Lowe homered while Chris Grimm doubled and scored in the fourth inning. IWU edges Jackets for NCCAA region banner
MARION, Ind. (4-30-2002) -- Host and No. 1 seed Indiana Wesleyan rallied to beat Cedarville, 11-10 in eight innings, in the championship game of the NCCAA Midwest Regional Tournament. The Jackets reached the final earlier in the day with a 6-3 victory over No. 2 Spring Arbor. Indiana Wesleyan scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to force extra innings and then plated the game winner in the eighth after two were out. Bryan Mangin was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, three runs scored, and two RBI's. Chris Grimm had a pair of hits with three RBI's while Forest Greetham and Ben Saturley added two hits apiece. [GAME BOXSCORE] Cedarville defeated Spring Arbor behind the pitching and hitting of Ryan Zenn. The freshman righthander retired the first nine batters he faced and allowed two runs on four hits in five innings. Zenn, who bats lefthanded, belted a two-run homer for his fifth of the season. T.J. Couch worked the final two innings for his seventh save. Jeff Lowe added two hits with three RBI's. [GAME BOXSCORE]
