Bennington earns All-AMC honors; Jackets 6th
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (5-3-2002) -- Craig Bennington finished 4th in the American Mideast Conference championship to earn All-AMC honors and the Yellow Jackets placed 6th out of 11 teams. Bennington carded rounds of 78-75-73 for a 226 which was two shots off of medalist honors. He is the first all-conference golfer for Cedarville in 12 years. Other scores for CU were Tom Simon 87-82-78-247; Mike Poelzer 80-85-82-247; Jonathan Brust 84-84-84-252; and Ben Foreman 84-85-84-253. Walsh won the 54-hole event with a 917 total while Mount Vernon Nazarene and defending champion Malone tied for 2nd, nine shots back. Cedarville was 6th at 969. [COMPLETE RESULTS]

CU 6th after round one of AMC/NAIA Region IX
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (5-2-2002) -- Cedarville finds itself right in the middle of the pack, 6th place of 11 teams, following the opening round of the 54-hole AMC/NAIA Region IX Tournament. The final 36 holes will be played Friday at the Apple Valley Golf Club. Walsh leads at 307 and is followed by Mount Vernon Nazarene, 313; Urbana, 314; Shawnee State, 317; Malone, 320; and Cedarville, 326. Craig Bennington led the Yellow Jackets with a 78. Other CU scores were Mike Poelzer, 80; Ben Foreman, 84; Jonathan Brust, 84; and Tom Simon, 87.

Jackets 4th in 21st Annual CU Invitational
BEAVERCREEK, Ohio (4-23-2002) -- The Yellow Jackets shot their best team score in 18 years, but still finished 4th out of five schools in the 21st Annual Cedarville Invitational. CU carded a 306 total in the second round - their lowest score since firing a 306 in the 1984 NCCAA District III Tournament - as all five players broke 80. Urbana won the event at 606 winning a tiebreaker with runner-up Shawnee State, who also had 606. Mount Vernon Nazarene was at 616, Cedarville was fourth at 627, and Central State totalled 803. Ben Foreman led the Jackets with rounds of 79-76-155. Other CU scores were Mike Poelzer, 80-76-156; Craig Bennington, 81-78-159; Jonathan Brust, 81-78-159; and Tom Simon, 86-76-162. [COMPLETE RESULTS]
