Jackets 3rd at NCCAA with 86-73 win;
Gast, Chamberlin named All-Tournament

BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (3-16-2002) -- Cedarville completed the season with its 21st victory by outgunning North Greenville 86-73 in the consolation game of the National Christian College Athletic Association Tournament. The Yellow Jackets sprinted to a 47-27 halftime lead and expanded the bulge to as much as 56-29 early in the second period. However, the Crusaders exploded on a 30-6 run to cut the difference to 64-59 with 7:10 left. CU responded with a 12-2 spurt to regain command. Barry Chamberlin notched his seventh straight double-double with 19 points and 11 rebounds while Josh Gast buried four treys en route to 17 points. David Dingeman scored 12 points and finished his career with 1,033 points and senior classmate Brad Kormash netted three bombs and finished with 11 points. Gast and Chamberlin were both voted to the NCCAA National All-Tournament Team. [STATS]

Gardner-Webb hangs on to beat CU, 75-65
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (3-15-2002) -- No. 1 seed and defending champion Gardner-Webb made 11-of-12 free throws in the final 1:30 to hold off Cedarville, 75-65, in the semifinals of the National Christian College Athletic Association Tournament. The #4 seed Yellow Jackets gave the NCAA Division I bound Bulldogs all could they handle and led by as much as 37-29 with 3:30 left in the first half. But, GWU scored the final 11 points of the period for a 40-37 halftime advantage. Cedarville took their only lead of the second half, 45-44, on a Brad Kormash three-pointer at the 14:30 mark. The Jackets were within 62-56 with less than two minutes left before the hosts put the game away at the charity stripe. Barry Chamberlin recorded his sixth straight double-double and 16th overall with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Josh Gast tossed in five treys and scored 17 points while David Dingeman added 14 points. Fifteen of CU's 22 field goals came outside the three-point arc. [STATS]

CU rips Asbury; advances to NCCAA semis
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (3-14-2002) -- Barry Chamberlin racked up 19 points and 13 rebounds as Cedarville rolled to an impressive 101-82 victory over Asbury in the first round of the National Christian College Athletic Association Tournament at Gardner-Webb University. The Yellow Jackets expanded a three-point halftime lead to as much as 23 points by shooting 67 percent from the field in the second half. Jason Weakley and Andrey Arkhipov fired in 15 points each; David Dingeman netted 14 and became the 37th CU player to surpass 1,000 career points; Josh Gast tallied 13 points with 10 rebounds; and Greg Guiler scored 12 points. The Jackets face host and defending champion Gardner-Webb on Friday night in the semifinals. [STATS]
