Netters finish season with 5-2 win
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (5-8-2002) -- Cedarville ended the season by defeating Piedmont, 5-2, to finish fourth at the NCCAA National Tournament. The Yellow Jackets took a 2-1 lead after doubles with victories from #2 John Bailey and Victor Puhy as well as #3 Gertjan Flikweert and Aaron Franke. CU clinched the match on singles wins by Flikweert, Bailey, and Puhy. [MATCH RESULTS]

Jackets drop two at NCCAA
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (5-7-2002) -- The Yellow Jackets suffered losses to Gardner-Webb and Spring Arbor during day two action at the NCCAA National Tournament. Host and NCAA Division I GWU hung a 9-0 defeat on Cedarville. The Bulldogs swept the doubles competition, but Cedarville was in all three matches losing by 8-5, 9-7, and 8-6 scores. Gardner-Webb won the six singles matches in straight sets. [MATCH RESULTS] The Jackets rallied against Spring Arbor, but fell short in a 5-4 setback. The Cougars jumped out to a 3-0 lead upon sweeping the doubles. Cedarville received singles wins from #2 Gertjan Flikweert, #3 John Bailey, #5 Victor Puhy, and #6 Aaron Franke. [MATCH RESULTS]

CU opens NCCAA play with loss, win
BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. (5-6-2002) -- Cedarville opened play at the NCCAA National Tournament with a 9-0 loss to NCAA Division II North Greenville before posting an 8-1 win over Greenville. The Jackets could never get going against North Greenville as they lost all three doubles matches by identical 8-3 scores. The Crusaders won the six singles matches in straight sets. [MATCH RESULTS] CU rebounded with an impressive victory against Greenville. The Jackets took a 2-1 lead after doubles play with #2 John Bailey and Aaron Franke grabbing an 8-3 decision and #3 Gertjan Flikweert and Victor Puhy winning, 8-1. Cedarville swept through the singles action on victories by Dave Dice, Flikweert, Bailey, Dan DeHaan, Puhy, and Franke. [MATCH RESULTS]
