[COMPLETE RESULTS] Nov. 10, NCCAA NATIONALS The Yellow Jackets closed out their 2001 season with a fourth-place showing at the NCCAA Nationals. Northwest Nazarene won the 20-team meet with 33 points and was followed in the top four by Malone, 43; MidAmerica Nazarene, 94; and Cedarville, 128. Jody Fox was CU's top runner with a time of 26:23 for the 8,000 meters. Others to score for the Jackets were Josh Mark (23rd; 26:46),Justin Gerber (24th; 26:51), Alan Bruder (27th; 27:02), and Justin Whitaker (33rd; 27:31). [COMPLETE RESULTS] Nov. 3, at American Mideast Conference Cedarville, ranked No. 25 in the NAIA, placed second in the American Mideast Conference Championship. No. 3 ranked Malone had 15 points while the Jackets had 101 points in the 11-team field. Josh Mark was the top finisher for CU by placing 9th in 26:23 for the 8,000 meters. Others scoring for the Jackets were Justin Gerber (18th; 26:48), Justin Whitaker (26th; 27:25), Jody Fox (28th; 27:27), and Ken Loescher (32nd; 27:47). [COMPLETE RESULTS] Oct. 19, at Wilmington Classic Cedarville put three runners among the top seven finishers en route to winning the Wilmington Classic. The Yellow Jackets had 33 points while runner-up John Carroll totaled 52 and third-place Shawnee State recorded 74 points in the 12-team field. Jody Fox led the way for CU placing 3rd in 26:16 for the 8,000 meters. Other Jackets to score were Josh Mark (5th; 26:34), Alan Bruder (7th; 26:45), Justin Gerber (14th; 27:07), and Jason Gray (18th; 27:18). Oct. 5, at All-Ohio Championship Cedarville finished 15th out of 33 schools at the All-Ohio Championship. Cincinnati won the race with 50 points and was joined in the top five by Kent State, 67; Youngstown State, 100; Malone, 112; and Ashland, 179. CU had 437 points. Alan Bruder paced the Jackets by covering the 8,000 meters in 27:42 which placed 76th out of 223 runners. Others scoring for Cedarville were Justin Gerber (80th; 27:49), Jody Fox (83rd; 27:52), Josh Mark (96th; 28:04), and Justin Whitaker (102nd; 28:11). [COMPLETE RESULTS] Sept. 29, at Greensboro Invitational Cedarville, ranked No. 23 in the NAIA, placed third at the Greensboro Invitational. Alderson-Broaddus won the meet with 60 points, West Virginia Wesleyan was second with 84, while the Yellow Jackets were next with 85 points. Josh Mark led CU by placing 10th in 27:11 for the 8,000 meters. Other finishers were Andy Hayes (15th; 27:28), Justin Gerber (16th; 27:29), Justin Whitaker (19th; 27:35), and Ken Loescher (25th; 27:51). Sept. 22, 11th ANNUAL FRIENDSHIP INVITATIONAL The host Yellow Jackets finished fourth out of 12 schools in the 11th Annual Friendship Invitational. Kenyon repeated as champions with 44 points and was followed by Heidelberg, 50; Wright State, 95; and Cedarville, 109. Josh Mark led CU by placing 7th in 26:14 for the 8,000 meters. Others who figured in the scoring were Jody Fox (20th; 26:59), Justin Gerber (21st; 27:02), Andy Hayes (31st; 27:36), and Jason Gray (35th; 27:47). [COMPLETE RESULTS] Sept. 15, at Midwest Collegiate Championship Josh Mark placed 35th and Cedarville finished 13th out of 28 schools with 423 points at the Midwest Collegiate Championship hosted by Wisconsin-Parkside. Mark was timed in 26:18 for the 8,000 meters and was followed by Jody Fox (87th; 27:00), Alan Bruder (128th; 27:27), Justin Whitaker (164th; 27:53), and Ken Loescher (186th; 28:16). Wisconsin-LaCrosse won the meet with 74 points. Sept. 1, at Rio Grande Invitational Host Rio Grande nipped Cedarville 25-30 in what turned out to be a dual meet in the Rio Grande Invitational. The Yellow Jackets, pre-season ranked No. 5 in the NAIA, were led by Jody Fox who covered the 8,000 meters in 28:05 and placed 2nd. Others to score for CU were Alan Bruder (4th, 28:12), Ken Loescher (7th; 28:28), Dan Plaatje (8th; 28:33), and Josh Mark (9th; 28:39). |
