van der Aa named NAIA All-American
OLATHE, Kansas (12-6-2001) -- Cedarville University senior Heather van der Aa has been named to the NAIA All-America Volleyball Third Team for the 2001 season and is the first Lady Jacket player to earn the honor. A 6-foot-2 middle hitter, van der Aa was voted the NAIA Region IX and American Mideast Conference Player of the Year after leading the league with 4.75 kills per game and a .402 attack percentage. She paced Cedarville to a 29-14 record this fall and to a 113-56 mark during her career. van der Aa is Cedarville's all-time kills leader with 2,390. She also ranks first at CU in total attacks (4,466), attack percentage (.379), block assists (390), and total blocks (586). Her 132 block assists this fall was a new single-season record and she tied an NAIA national single-match record with an .882 attack percentage in a victory over Central State with 15 kills in 17 attempts. CU season ends at AMC Tournament
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (11-15-2001) -- The Lady Jackets ended their season with a 29-14 record for the second straight year after knocking off Seton Hill, but losing to Walsh at the American Mideast Conference Tournament. Cedarville, the No. 6 seed in the 12-team event, swept the No. 11 Spirit by scores of 30-21, 30-21, 30-21. Heather van der Aa buried 21 kills in the match while Melissa Holland added nine. Carrie Hartman was credited with 38 assists and Cheryl Meyer had 14 digs. [STATS] No. 3 seed Walsh ended Cedarville's campaign with a 30-22, 30-26, 30-14 decision. The attack was again paced by van der Aa with 16 kills as she ended her career as CU's all-time leader with 2,390 kills. Hartman handed out 23 assists, Paula Thompson had 13 digs, and Richelle Clem added 12 more. [STATS]

van der Aa tabbed AMC Player of the Year
CEDARVILLE, Ohio (11-13-2001) -- Lady Jacket senior Heather van der Aa has been named the American Mideast Conference Player of the Year. The 6-foot-2 middle hitter, who is CU's all-time kills leader, is the first player in school history to be named conference Player of the Year in volleyball. Amy Martin was named to the All-AMC Second Team while Carrie Hartman and Melissa Holland were honorable mention.
