Rossotti named NAIA All-American
OLATHE, Kansas (3-13-2002) -- Cedarville forward Kirsten Rossotti has been named to the NAIA Division II All-America Second Team for the 2001-02 season. She is only the second Lady Jacket basketball player to ever earn the honor. Rossotti, a six-foot senior, who will return for her fourth year of athletic eligibility next season, came back to the hardwood after taking a year off from basketball to average 19.5 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. She was voted the American Mideast Conference Player of the Year after leading Cedarville, 23-10 overall, to the most victories in school history. Rossotti was also named to the National Christian College Athletic Association All-America First Team. She was tabbed the NCCAA Midwest Region Player of the Year. Selected to the NCCAA All-America Second Team was 5-6 sophomore guard Julie Stauffer, who averaged 14.4 points per game. In just three seasons, Rossotti is Cedarville's sixth all-time leading scorer with 1,515 points and she rates eighth in rebounding with 819 boards. The only other Lady Jacket to be named an NAIA All-American was Amy Zehr, who earned a spot on the First Team following the 1992-93 campaign. [NAIA DIVISION II ALL-AMERICANS]

Spring Arbor ends CU season, 76-72
CEDARVILLE, Ohio (2-28-2002) -- Spring Arbor brought Cedarville's record-setting season to a halt with a 76-72 win in the semifinals of the NCCAA Midwest Regional. The #3 seeded Cougars held the lead for all but 2:30 of the contest and iced the outcome with four free throws in the final 21 seconds. Spring Arbor shot 58 percent from the field in the first half and inflated the difference to as much as 14 points before settling for a 42-34 lead at the intermission. CU, the #2 seed, recovered to take their only lead since 3-0 when Julie Stauffer scored to make it 55-54 at the 10:15 mark. The Cougars then reeled off six straight points and never relinquished the lead. Kari Flunker poured in a game-high 23 points while Kirsten Rossotti posted her 16th double-double of the season with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Stauffer tallied 12 points as the Lady Jackets closed out the campaign with a school-record 23 victories. [STATS]

Rossotti voted AMC Player of the Year
CEDARVILLE, Ohio (2-25-2002) -- Cedarville forward Kirsten Rossotti has been voted the American Mideast Conference Player of the Year by the league's women's basketball coaches. The six-foot senior, who will return for her fourth year of athletic eligibility next season, returned to the hardwood after taking a year off from basketball to average 19.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Rossotti has guided the Lady Jackets to a school-record 23 victories and they advanced to the AMC Tournament semifinals before losing to top seed Shawnee State in overtime. In just three seasons, Rossotti is Cedarville's third all-time leading scorer with 1,496 points. She rates sixth in rebounding with 807 boards. Sophomore guard Julie Stauffer, freshman guard Kari Flunker, and sophomore center Molly Earley were All-AMC honorable mention selections. Flunker was named to the five-member All-AMC Freshmen Team.
