NAIA NATIONAL CHAMPIONS!
KENOSHA, Wis. (11-17-2001) -- Erin Nehus was one of three Lady Jacket All-America runners as Cedarville captured their first NAIA national title in any sport by winning the NAIA Women's Cross Country Championship. Elvin King, who is in his 33rd year as head coach at CU, was voted NAIA National Coach of the Year. The Lady Jackets totaled 147 points to outrun second-place Concordia NE, who had 169 points. Hastings NE was third with 173 points. Nehus earned All-America honors for the third straight time by touring the 5,000 meters in 18:16 to place 3rd. Joining the junior on the All-America unit were Jennifer Tetrick, who was 12th in 18:36, and Heidi Wright, who finished 29th in 18:53. The top 30 finishers are All-Americans. Others running for the Jackets were Sarah Roberts (59th; 19:25), Kim McNeilance (83rd; 19:46), Abigail Winburn (113th; 20:05), and Jen Roman (136th; 20:15). There were 28 teams and 238 competitors in all. CU claimed the national title without a senior among the top seven runners. [COMPLETE RESULTS]

Jackets, Nehus win NCCAA championship
CEDARVILLE, Ohio (11-10-2001) -- Erin Nehus won the individual title in leading Cedarville to the National Christian College Athletic Association championship. The Yellow Jackets, ranked No. 2 in the NAIA, had 38 points for top honors in the 22-team field. Malone finished with 63 points while defending champion Spring Arbor had 110. Nehus joined two-time winner Jane Romig, Krista Pritchard, Michelle Burson, and Julianne Pletcher as NCCAA champions from Cedarville. She toured the 5,000 meters in 18:19. Other Lady Jackets earning All-American recognition for finishing among the Top 15 were Jennifer Tetrick (4th; 18:42), Heidi Wright (5th; 18:43), and Sarah Roberts (8th; 18:54). Jen Roman was 22nd in 19:45 to round out the CU scoring. Elvin King was tabbed NCCAA Coach of the Year in guiding the Jackets to their fourth overall title and their first since 1996. Lady Jackets win AMC title
RIO GRANDE, Ohio (11-3-2001) -- Erin Nehus was the individual winner as NAIA No. 2 Cedarville repeated as American Mideast Conference champions. The Lady Jackets had 33 points while runner-up Malone tallied 43 points in the 13-team field. Nehus covered the 5,000 meters in 18:28 and was joined in the CU top five by Jennifer Tetrick (4th; 18:51), Sarah Roberts (6th; 19:02), Heidi Wright (7th; 19:15), and Abigail Winburn (15th; 19:46).
