(11-23-2002) - Sergio Reyes completed his stellar Cedarville distance running career by placing 4th at the NAIA Nationals to earn All-America honors. He toured the 8,000 meters in 25:22 to finish 19 seconds behind the champion. Reyes, the Jackets' lone representative in the meet, was beaten by just four runners all season long. He won seven races total and his only other non-victory was a 2nd-place finish at the All-Ohio Championships. After transferring to Cedarville his junior year, Reyes was a 2000 NAIA All-American in cross country before sitting out the 2001 campaign. He finished the 8,000 meter course in 24:55 to win by three seconds. NAIA No. 7 Malone won the team banner with 42 points, No. 3 MidAmerica Nazarene was the runner-up with 52 points, and the Yellow Jackets tied No. 18 Grace for 3rd position with 105 points.
