Ashley Smith is in her third season with the Lady Jackets as one of the team's best all-around players.....missed 25 games last spring due to a knee injury, but is ready to go this year.....started 24 of the 27 games in which she played - all at shortstop.....batted .324 with team-highs of four triples and two home runs.....became just the sixth player in school history to hit a grand slam.....named to the All-NCCAA Midwest Region Tournament Team for the second straight time.....recorded four two-hit games and had three hits in a contest three times. 2001 - Made an immediate contribution as a freshman.....started all 35 games at shortstop and batted in the leadoff spot.....hit .286 with team-highs in at bats (119), runs (23), triples (4), homers (3), and steals (14).....voted to the NCCAA Midwest Region All-Tournament Team.....recorded 10 multi-hit games, five multiple-RBI efforts including a four-RBI game, and put together a six-game hitting streak.....two-year member of the Lady Jacket basketball team that won a school-record 23 games in 2001-02 High School - Earned nine letters total in softball, basketball, and volleyball at Arcanum High School.....four-time All-Darke County and All-Cross County Conference selection at shortstop.....four-year letter winner on the diamond.....team finished as the 2000 regional runner-up.....batted .450 or higher all four seasons with a career-high .620 batting average as a sophomore.....three-year letter winner in basketball who averaged 11 points per game as a senior.....named to the all-conference team as well as the all-county team.....collected two letters in volleyball. Personal - Dean's List student as a multi-age physical education major at Cedarville University.....sister-in-law Diane Rank Smith, who played softball and basketball for the Lady Jackets, is a member of the Cedarville University Athletic Hall of Fame....born 2/1/82 in Greenville, OH.....daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith.....has two older brothers.
