Four CU players earn AMC honors
CEDARVILLE, Ohio - Melissa Holland was tabbed to the American Mideast Conference South Division First Team while Lauren Mable was selected AMC South Division Freshman of the Year in voting by the league's coaches. AMC split ends season for spikers
AMHERST, N.Y. (11-15-2002) - Cedarville defeated Seton Hill in the first round of the American Mideast Conference Tournament but lost to Mount Vernon Nazarene to end the season with a 28-17 record. The Jackets rolled to an easy 30-11, 30-19, 30-24 victory against the Griffins in the opener. Melissa Holland put down 15 kills and became the ninth player in CU volleyball history to surpass 1,000 career kills needing just two seasons to accomplish the feat. Carrie Hartman had 38 assists while Courtney Williams was credited with 11 digs. [STATS] Mount Vernon Nazarene finished Cedarville's season with a 30-27, 38-40, 30-26, 30-25 decision. Holland tallied 25 kills and Paula Thompson added 20. Williams totalled 37 digs and Hartman racked up 54 assists which gives her 1,669 assists for the season to break the previous record of 1,619 set by Lori Bunger in 2000. [STATS]

Malone rallies for AMC win over Cedarville
CANTON, Ohio (11-9-2002) - Host Malone rallied from a 2-1 deficit to knock off Cedarville in five games during an American Mideast Conference South Division match to close out the regular season. The Pioneers won by scores of 30-25, 29-31, 28-30, 30-26, 17-15. Melissa Holland pounded 26 kills while Lauren Mable added 19 kills with 21 digs. Primary setter Carrie Hartman was unable to play so rookie Kelsey Jones stepped in and responded with a career-high 49 assists. Courtney Williams totalled 21 digs and Paula Thompson had 18. [STATS]
