Kirsten Rossotti earned NAIA All-America honors for the second straight year.

Rossotti, Flunker NAIA All-Americans
OLATHE, Kansas (3-24-2003) - Kirsten Rossotti and Kari Flunker have been named to the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball All-America Teams for the 2002-03 season. They helped lead the Lady Jackets to a best-ever 31-3 record and their first-ever appearance at the NAIA National Tournament. Rossotti earned a spot on the 10-member NAIA All-America First Team after averaging 21.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game. She is Cedarville's first two-time All-American after picking up second team honors last winter. Rossotti, a two-time American Mideast Conference Player of the Year, finished her career as the Lady Jackets' all-time leader in scoring (2,229) and rebounding (1,159). Flunker was selected to the 10-member NAIA All-America Second Team upon averaging 14.5 points and 4.9 assists per game. She set school records with 74 three-pointers made and 168 assists. Flunker also led the club in free throw percentage (.790) and steals (87). Molly Earley and Julie Stauffer were both recognized as NAIA All-America Scholar-Athletes. The list includes juniors and seniors who maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average. Earley carries a middle childhood education major while Stauffer is a physical education major. Sioux Falls ends record CU season
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (3-14-2003) - Sioux Falls ended Cedarville's 21-game winning streak and brought to a close the finest Lady Jacket season in the history of the program with a 93-70 decision in the second round of the 12th Annual NAIA Division II National Tournament. CU held a 24-20 lead midway through the first half, but the Cougars finished the period with a 26-9 run for a 46-33 halftime advantage. Sioux Falls opened the second half with back-to-back treys to break the game open. Kirsten Rossotti finished with a team-high 16 points while Kari Flunker tallied 14. Julie Stauffer, who had started the first 93 games of her career, did not play in the first half and saw limited time in the second half due to recurring back problems. [STATS]

Jackets win NAIA opener; beat Morningside, 80-69
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (3-12-2003) - Kirsten Rossotti exploded for career-highs of 37 points and 21 rebounds to rally Cedarville to a 80-69 victory over Morningside (Iowa) in the first round of the 12th Annual NAIA Division II National Tournament. It was the 21st consecutive victory for the Lady Jackets, who are making their first-ever NAIA tournament appearance. The Mustangs, who received an at-large berth as the host school, jumped out to a 26-15 lead in the opening period and still held a 33-29 halftime advantage. Rossotti scored 20 of her points in the second half, CU took over the lead early in the frame, and then pulled away in the final minutes to move on to the second round. Kari Flunker finished with 15 points and nine rebounds while Molly Earley had 10 points and eight boards. Cedarville held a commanding 56-34 rebounding edge which included 29 offensive rebounds. Rossotti, Martin earn AMC South Division honors
CEDARVILLE, Ohio (2-28-2003) - Kirsten Rossotti was named the American Mideast Conference South Division Player of the Year while Kirk Martin earned Coach of the Year honors for the NAIA Division II No. 3 Lady Jackets. It's the second straight recognition for Rossotti, who was the AMC Player of the Year last winter when the conference played as one with no divisions. She averages 20.6 points and 9.8 rebounds for a 29-2 squad that owns 19 straight wins and has set a school record for most victories in a season. Rossotti is the school's all-time leading scorer and rebounder. Martin has put together a 52-12 record in his two seasons at his alma mater. Kari Flunker and Julie Stauffer were also named to the All-AMC South Division First Team. Emily Delimpo was honorable mention and earned a spot on the division's All-Freshmen Team.
