May 12, Berry (NAIA National Tournament)
Jen Roman established a new school mark for career singles victories as the Lady Jackets dropped a 7-1 decision to Berry at the NAIA National Tournament. Roman notched an 8-6 win at #6 singles for Cedarville's lone point. She finishes her career with 52 victories which surpasses the 51 set last year by Amy Gregory. [STATS]

May 7, OLIVET NAZARENE (NCCAA National Tournament)
No. 3 seed Olivet Nazarene rolled to a 5-1 win over No. 4 Cedarville in the final match of the NCCAA National Tournament. The contest was played indoors at the Springfield Racquet Club due to rain. The Jackets scored their point at #1 doubles on an 8-6 decision by Jodi Kraker and Sarah Rogers The Tigers clinched the match with points at #3, #4, and #5 singles. [STATS]

May 6, BETHEL (NCCAA National Tournament)
The No. 4 Jackets edged No. 5 Bethel, 5-4, in the second match of the day. Cedarville built a commanding 3-0 lead after doubles with wins from #1 Carrie Hartman and Bethany Staten; #2 Jodi Kraker and Sarah Rogers; and #3 Jen Roman and Courtney Ruffin. Hartman was a 7-6, 6-2 winner at #2 singles. Roman rallied for a 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 victory at #6 singles which allowed her to tie the school record for career singles wins at 51 set last spring by 2002 graduate Amy Gregory. [STATS]

May 6, PIEDMONT (NCCAA National Tournament)
No. 4 Cedarville bounced back on Day 2 at the NCCAA National Tournament with a pair of wins as the event moved outdoors to the Yellow Jacket Tennis Complex. CU blanked No. 6 Piedmont, 6-0, in a rematch of a contest played on March 28 when the Jackets were on spring break. The hosts swept the doubles by identical 8-2 scores. The winning tandems were Carrie Hartman and Bethany Staten at #1; Jodi Kraker and Sarah Rogers at #2; and Jen Roman and Courtney Ruffin at #3. Rogers, Jolene Nourse, and Roman were straight-set winners in the bottom three singles positions. [STATS]

May 5, NORTH GREENVILLE (NCCAA National Tournament)
Top seed North Greenville downed the No. 4 Jackets, 5-1, in a match played indoors at the Springfield Racquet Club due to rainy and windy weather.. Cedarville's lone point came at #3 doubles where Jen Roman and Courtney Ruffin picked up an 8-4 decision. After winning two-out-of-three doubles matches, the Crusaders closed out the contest with victories at #1, #2, and #4 singles. [STATS]

May 5, INDIANA WESLEYAN (NCCAA National Tournament)
The No. 4 seed and host Lady Jackets opened play at the NCCAA National Tournament with a 5-0 setback to No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan. The match was played indoors at the Springfield Racquet Club due to rainy and windy weather. The Wildcats, who are ranked No. 8 nationally in the NAIA, opened by sweeping all three doubles matches. They clinched the victory with wins at 4th and 6th singles. [STATS]

May 2, OHIO DOMINICAN (NAIA Region IX Tournament - Championship)
The Lady Jackets won their second straight NAIA Region IX championship, and their third in the past four years, with a 5-2 victory over Ohio Dominican. Cedarville came out of doubles with a 2-1 lead. The #2 tandem of Jodi Kraker and Sarah Rogers were 8-5 winners while #3 Jen Roman and Courtney Ruffin notched a 8-6 decision. In singles, the Lady Jacket points came from #2 Carrie Hartman 6-3, 6-0; #5 Jolene Nourse 6-0, 6-1; and #6 Jen Roman, 6-2, 6-2. Matches at #3 and #4 singles were not completed due to rain, but CU was up one set and leading in the second in both. [STATS]

May 1, ROBERTS WESLEYAN (NAIA Region IX Tournament - Semifinals)
The Lady Jackets have the opportunity to defend their NAIA Region IX championship after defeating AMC North Division champ Roberts Wesleyan, 9-0, in the semifinals. Cedarville won all six singles matches in straight sets and also swept the doubles. It was CU's sixth shutout of the season. [STATS]

April 30, WALSH (NAIA Region IX Tournament - First Round)
Defending NAIA Region IX champion Cedarville surrendered the first two points of its first round match with Walsh and then won out for an impressive 7-2 victory. The two teams began with singles and things did not look so good for the Lady Jackets, who dropped the first two decisions and trailed in two other matches on the court. CU recovered to win the four remaining singles matches and then swept the doubles. Carrie Hartman rolled to a 6-1, 6-4 win at #2 singles and rookie Bethany Staten rallied for a 2-6, 7-6, 6-1 victory at #3. Jolene Nourse posted a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win at #5 and Jen Roman remained unbeaten at 13-0 with a 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 victory at #6 singles. [STATS]

April 26, at Huntington
The Lady Jackets posted their seventh consecutive 10-win season after defeating Huntington, 7-2, in a non-conference match. Head coach Pam Johnson's new doubles line-up came up with a three-point sweep. The rearranged pairings include #1 Carrie Hartmanand Bethany Staten; #2 Jodi Kraker and Sarah Rogers; and #3 Jen Roman and Courtney Ruffin. Hartman, Rogers, Roman, and Jolene Nourse racked up singles wins. [STATS]

April 25, at Taylor
Taylor hung on to nip the Lady Jackets, 5-4, in a non-conference match. The Trojans won two doubles matches before the two teams split the singles with three points apiece. Jodi Kraker and Sarah Rogers were 8-4 winners at #2 doubles. In singles, Cedarville got victories from #3 Bethany Staten, #4 Rogers, and #6 Jen Roman. [STATS]

April 23, at Central State
Cedarville did not surrender a point anywhere in the match during a 9-0 non-conference decision over Central State. Head coach Pam Johnson gave her top three players the day off, but the Jackets did not let up. The visitors won all three doubles matches by 8-0 counts and all six singles matches by identical 6-0, 6-0 scores. Gretchen Vuurens, at #5 singles, and Ashley Duff, at #6 singles, saw their first varsity action of the spring. They also teamed up to win at #3 doubles. [STATS]

April 22, GEORGETOWN
The Lady Jackets played for the first time in a week and responded with a 6-3 non-conference victory against Georgetown. Singles victories came from #2 Carrie Hartman, 6-2, 6-1; #3 Bethany Staten, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2; #5 Sarah Rogers, 6-2, 6-3; and #6 Jen Roman by forfeit. Cedarville grabbed a pair of doubles wins by #1 Hartman-Staten, 8-4, and by #3 Rogers-Jodi Kraker by forfeit. [STATS]

April 15, at Ohio Wesleyan
Ohio Wesleyan swept the doubles en route to a 6-3 non-conference victory over the Lady Jackets. Cedarville rebounded to pick up points in three singles matches. The CU winners were #3 Bethany Staten, 6-2, 6-4; #5 Sarah Rogers, 6-4, 6-4; and #6 Jen Roman, 6-1, 6-3. [STATS]

April 12, MALONE
The Lady Jackets rolled to a convincing 9-0 victory over Malone in American Mideast Conference South Division action. Jodi Kraker, Carrie Hartman, Bethany Staten, Jolene Nourse, Sarah Rogers, and Jen Roman were all straight-set singles winners. Cedarville controlled the doubles play by winning all but six games total in the three matches. [STATS]

April 11, WALSH
Four singles victories carried Cedarville to a key 5-4 American Mideast Conference South Division win over Walsh. No. 2 Carrie Hartman remained unbeaten at 7-0 with a 7-6, 6-2 win. Other Lady Jacket points came from No. 3 Bethany Staten, 6-1, 6-1; No. 5 Sarah Rogers, 6-2, 6-4; and No. 6 Jen Roman, 6-3, 6-2. The No. 3 doubles team of Rogers and Diana Locke won their match, 8-4. April 8, OHIO DOMINICAN
Ohio Dominican ended Cedarville's 21-match American Mideast Conference winning streak by stunning the Lady Jackets, 5-4, in a South Division encounter played indoors at the Springfield Racquet Club. The Lady Jackets won four of the six singles matches, which were played first, with points coming from #2 Carrie Hartman, #3 Bethany Staten, #5 Sarah Rogers, and #6 Jen Roman. The Panthers rallied by sweeping all three doubles matches against a CU squad that entered the match 15-0 in doubles this spring. [STATS]

April 5, at Bluffton
Cedarville moved to 5-0 on the season with a 9-0 victory at Bluffton in a non-conference match played in blustery conditions. The Lady Jackets took command by sweeping the doubles. Jodi Kraker and Sarah Rogers teamed up for the first time this season in the No. 1 slot for an 8-1 decision. The No. 2 tandem of Carrie Hartman and Courtney Ruffin had an 8-1 win while Diana Locke and Jolene Nourse were easy 8-2 winners at No. 3 in their first-ever pairing together. Kraker, Hartman, Nourse, Rogers, Jen Roman, and Ruffin all won their singles matches. [STATS]

April 3, SHAWNEE STATE
Two-time defending American Mideast Conference champion Cedarville opened South Division play with a 9-0 victory against Shawnee State for their 21st straight league win. The Lady Jackets lost only four games total in the match. CU swept the doubles action by identical 8-0 scores. Singles winners were Jodi Kraker, Carrie Hartman, Sarah Rogers, Jolene Nourse, Jen Roman, and Courtney Ruffin. [STATS]

March 28, at Piedmont
The Lady Jackets finished off their spring break trip with an 8-1 win at Piedmont to remain unbeaten. Cedarville swept the doubles for the third straight match with freshmen Jodi Kraker and Bethany Staten winning 8-5 at the No. 1 spot. Carrie Hartman and Courtney Ruffin won by the same 8-5 difference in the No. 2 match while Sarah Rogers and Jen Roman picked up an 8-2 win at No. 3. Singles winners for CU were Kraker, Hartman, Staten, Roman, and Ruffin. [STATS]

March 27, at Emmanuel
Cedarville had no problem in defeating non-conference foe Emmanuel, 9-0. The Lady Jackets dropped just 14 games total in the match. Jodi Kraker and Bethany Staten won the No. 1 doubles match by an 8-3 count. Carrie Hartman and Courtney Ruffin followed with an 8-2 decision, and Sarah Rogers and Jen Roman rolled to an 8-0 win. Kraker, Hartman, Staten, Rogers, and Roman won their singles matches in straight sets while Ruffin was awarded a victory by default at the No. 6 position. [STATS]

March 18, WILMINGTON
The Lady Jackets opened the 2003 season with a 7-2 victory over longtime rival Wilmington in a non-conference match. Cedarville jumped out to a 3-0 lead after sweeping the doubles. The freshmen tandem of Jodi Kraker and Bethany Staten led the way with an 8-3 decision at the No. 1 spot. Carrie Hartman and Courtney Ruffin teamed up for an 8-3 win while Sarah Rogers and Diana Locke were 8-5 winners in the No. 3 position. Kraker, Hartman, Staten, and Jolene Nourse were straight-set victors in the top four singles slots. [STATS]
