Nehus closed out her outstanding career with a 2nd-place finish in the 5,000 meters in 17:49.03 after earlier placing 3rd in the 10K in 37:27.82. The top six finishers in each event are All-Americans. Nehus graduates from Cedarville as an NAIA All-American four times outdoors, twice indoors, and three times in cross country. Roberts was 4th in the first-ever running of the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase in 11:04.35. Rulapaugh, a two-time indoor All-American in the race walk, picked up her first outdoor honor with a 4th-place showing in the 3K race walk in 16:44.99. Castro repeated as an All-American in the pole vault after clearing 11-feet 5.75-inches to finish 4th. Elsewhere, Jennifer Tetrick was 15th in the 10,000 meters in 39:02.96. Sarah Bailey was 7th in her qualifying heat of the steeplechase in 12:02.47. Michalina Gluchowski placed 10th in the hammer throw with a school-record toss (158-8) and Michaela Bolton was 14th (149-1). Gluchowski, Nehus, Rulapaugh, and Tetrick were recogized as NAIA All-America Scholar-Athletes. The list includes juniors and seniors who maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average. [SEE COMPLETE RESULTS AND SCHOLAR-ATHLETES] Castro, Mable place 5th at Akron AKRON, Ohio (5-10-2003) - Rachael Castro placed 5th in the pole vault while Lauren Mable was 5th in the 400 meter dash at the Akron Open. Castro cleared 11-feet 6-inches in the pole and Mable's time in the 400 was a season-low 59.24 seconds. She also turned in a season-best 26.0 seconds to finish 7th in the 200 meter dash. Only three other athletes competed for the Lady Jackets. Michalina Gluchowski was 9th in the hammer throw (155-6), Michaela Bolton was 14th in the hammer (143-3), and Jamie Tatum was 14th in the pole vault (9-6.25). [COMPLETE RESULTS] Nehus 'Outstanding' at NCCAA; four named All-America Scholar-Athletes MARION, Ind. (5-3-2003) - Erin Nehus was named the Outstanding Performer of the Meet at the NCCAA Nationals after winning the 10,000 meter run in meet and school-record time and also capturing the 5,000 meter title. She obliterated the previous 10K school record by 42 seconds with a time of 36:18.07 while her effort in the 5K was 17:50.34. Sarah Roberts won the first-ever running of the 3,000 meter steeplechase in 10:59.54 and Rachael Castro took the pole vault title by clearing 11-feet 1.75-inches. Other All-America performances (top three finishers) included Michalina Gluchowski, who was 3rd in the hammer throw by upping her previous school record by six inches to 156-11. Jennifer Tetrick was 2nd in the 10K (38:16.30) and Roberts placed 3rd in the 5K (18:07.17). Host Indiana Wesleyan won the 17-team meet with 172 points and was followed in the top three by Malone with 106 points and Cedarville with 94. Gluchowski, Nehus, Tetrick, and Heidi Wright were named All-America Scholar-Athletes. The group consists of juniors and seniors who maintain a minimum 3.40 cumulative grade point average.
