2003-04 Match Recaps April 29-30, at AMC/NAIA Region IX Tournament It was a tough go at the American Mideast Conference/NAIA Region IX Tournament for the Yellow Jacket linksters as they wrapped up the season by placing 13th. Adam Schlappi was the only Cedarville golfer to make the 27-hole cut in the 54-hole event. He had rounds of 81-81-78 for a 240 total which tied for 26th overall. Ben Foreman carded an 88 in the 1st round and a 39 on the 9 holes prior to the cut for a 127 total. Other CU players were Travis Roach (84-45-129) and Jonathan Brust (97-45-142). [SEE COMPLETE AMC AND NAIA REGION IX RESULTS] April 19-20, 23rd ANNUAL CEDARVILLE INVITATIONAL Shawnee State maintained its six-stroke first-round lead to win the 23rd Annual Cedarville Invitational at Country Club of the North. It's the fourth time in the past eight years that the Bears have won the team title. The host Yellow Jackets, who finished 5th, were paced by Travis Roach. He had rounds of 76-77 and his 153 total tied for 6th place. Other CU scores were Adam Schlappi (80-80-160), Ben Foreman (80-83-163), Aaron McDivitt (88-75-163), and Jonathan Brust (90-85-175). Shawnee State finished with scores of 308 at Beavercreek Golf Club and 299 at CCN for a 607 total. The Bears were followed by Tiffin (314-299-613), Mount Vernon Nazarene (317-309-626), Urbana (313-315-628), Cedarville (324-315-639), Ohio Dominican (333-326-659), and Wilmington (329-334-663). [COMPLETE RESULTS] April 16-17, at Mount Vernon Nazarene Invitational The Yellow Jackets finished in 7th place at the nine-team Mount Vernon Nazarene Classic at the Apple Valley Golf Club. The host Cougars won the tournament with back-to-back rounds of 300 for a 600 total while CU posted scores of 314-322-636. Travis Roach had the team's low score for the second straight day. He finished at 76-77 for a 153 total. Other CU scores were Aaron McDivitt, 78-79-157; Adam Schlappi, 77-81-158; Ben Foreman, 83-85-168; and Jonathan Brust, 83-85-168. April 12-13, at Walsh Invitational Adam Schlappi carded rounds of 76 and 82 to tie for 6th place with a 158 total at the Walsh Invitational. The Yellow Jackets finished 10th in the 11-team event that was played in 40° temperatures with rain and wind both days. Schlappi grabbed the first-round lead by a shot but finished the tournament six strokes out of medalist honors. Other Yellow Jacket scores were Travis Roach (84-81-165); Ben Foreman (87-82-169); Jonathan Brust (87-85-172); and Aaron McDivitt (90-90-180). Mount Vernon Nazarene won the tournament with rounds of 333 and 300 for a two-day total of 633. CU's team scores were 334-330-664. April 9-10, at Urbana Invitational Cedarville placed 7th out of 10 schools at the 36-hole Urbana Invitational which was played at the Woodland Golf Club. Malone rallied on the second day with a 297 total, 10 strokes better than every other team, to win by four shots with a two-round score of 604. The Jackets posted rounds of 315 and 322 for a 637 total. Adam Schlappi led the way for CU with a 75 and 79 for a 154 total. Other scores for the Yellow Jackets were Aaron McDivitt (81-79-160); Ben Foreman (78-82-160); Travis Roach (81-82-163); and Jonathan Brust (83-84-167). March 29, at Shawnee State Invitational Adam Schlappi and Aaron McDivitt each carded rounds of 77 to pace Cedarville to a 5th-place finish at the Shawnee State Invitational. The 18-hole, 11-team event was played at the Elks Country Club. Travis Roach turned in a 78, Ben Foreman had an 80, and Jonathan Brust tallied a 90 on the 6,677 yard layout. Mount Vernon Nazarene and Tiffin tied for the top spot with a 296 total and MVNU won the tiebreaker. The rest of the top five included Shawnee State, 300; Ohio Dominican, 309; and the Yellow Jackets, 312. March 26-27, at Malone Invitational Adam Schlappi turned in rounds of 74 and 72 for a 146 total to place 5th individually at the Malone Invitational. The Yellow Jackets finished 11th in the 16-team field which was won by the host Pioneers with a 593 total at the Tannenhauf Golf Club. Cedarville posted team scores of 320 and 301 on the soggy course. The Jackets second-round score was the fifth-best of the day. Schlappi earned a spot on the all-tournament team. Other CU scores were Aaron McDivitt (82-74-156); Jonathan Brust (81-78-159); Ben Foreman (83-80-163); and Travis Roach (87-77-164). March 22, at Central State Adam Schlappi carded a 78 in brutal weather conditions to lead Cedarville to an easy 325-386 win at Central State in a dual match. The contest was played in breezy, 30-degree conditions at the Sebastian Hills Golf Club. Aaron McDivitt carded a 79 as the only other player to break 80. Other scores for the Yellow Jackets were Travis Roach, 82; Ben Foreman, 86; and Jonathan Brust, 88. Oct. 13-14, at NCCAA Nationals Cedarville moved up one spot to finish 10th out of 19 schools at the National Christian College Athletic Association Championship. The 36-hole event was played at The Hombre Golf Club. Master's hung on to win the tournament with a 292-307-599 total which nipped American Mideast Conference member Malone, who was at 295-305-600, by a single stroke. Cedarville's total was 321-330-651. Adam Schlappi had rounds of 82-80 for a 162 total which tied Aaron McDivitt, who had 79-83-162, for team-low honors.
