Scott wins NAIA pole vault
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (5-29-2004) - Freshman Jason Scott won the NAIA pole vault championship with a school-record effort of 16-feet 7.50-inches thus becoming only the third Yellow Jacket to ever win an NAIA title. He finished the season by winning his last five competitions and seven overall.

Scott added 4½ inches to the school record with his winning leap. He joins 5K race walk champion Chad Eder (1996) and 10K winner Sergio Reyes (2002) as CU's only NAIA champions.

Elsewhere, Joel Smith placed 9th in the high jump (6-7.50), Tim Beck was 12th in the javelin (187-6), James Yahara was 17th in the hammer (150-5), and Dan Campbell placed 19th in the 5,000 meters (15:48.71). Kevin Hall was 9th in his heat of the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a time of 10:06.90.

The 10 points that Scott was awarded for winning the pole vault placed Cedarville in a tie for 28th place out of 101 competing institutions. [COMPLETE RESULTS and PHOTO GALLERY]
