Jason Mattern returns to the Jackets after sitting out the 2003 season.....cleared a career-high 13-feet as a freshman at both the Miami Invitational and the Cincinnati Classic.....finished 6th in the American Mideast Conference with an 11-5.75 effort and was 11th at the NCCAA Nationals at 11-11.75.....best indoor performance was a 13-0 mark at Denison. High School - Four-year letter winner in track & field at nearby Shawnee State High School which has produced a number of track athletes for the Yellow Jackets.....earned All-Central Buckeye Conference honors in the pole vault and was an All-Clark County selection.....cleared a career-best 12-6.....four-year participant in cross country and earned three letters.....National Honor Society student. Personal - Carries a physical education major at Cedarville University.....born 9/21/82 in Springfield, OH.....son of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Mattern.....younger brother, Justin, is a sophomore pole vaulter with the Yellow Jackets.....has one other younger brother.
