2003 Match Recaps Nov. 22, Walsh (at NAIA Region IX Tournament)
NAIA No. 14 Walsh swept Cedarville, 3-0, in the semifinals of the NAIA Region IX Tournament. The Cavaliers, who were victorious in all four matches played this fall between the two schools, won 30-20, 30-23, 30-26. Lauren Mable totaled 19 kills and 14 digs for the Lady Jackets. Richelle Clem had seven kills with 19 digs. Kelsey Jones came through with 37 assists and Kathy Godinez added 11 digs. [STATS]
Nov. 15, at Walsh (at AMC Tournament)
NAIA No. 15 Walsh defeated Cedarville, 3-0, in the American Mideast Conference Tournament Championship. The host Cavaliers won by scores of 30-22, 30-21, 30-24. Erica Paugh tallied 12 kills for the Lady Jackets while Paula Thompson and Julia Bradley had six each. Lauren Mable came up with 17 digs, Kathy Godinez added 10, and Kelsey Jones produced 27 assists. Nov. 15, Malone (at AMC Tournament)
The Lady Jackets eliminated Malone from the AMC Tournament, 30-21, 30-27, 30-20. Lauren Mable had 14 kills with 22 digs. Richelle Clem registered 10 kills with 18 digs, Paula Thompson buried 11 kills with four blocks, and Julia Bradley added 10 kills and three blocks. Nov. 14, Ohio Dominican (at AMC Tournament)
Lauren Mable posted team-highs of 14 kills and 19 digs to lead Cedarville to a 30-13, 30-28, 30-19 victory over Ohio Dominican in the quarterfinals of the American Mideast Conference Tournament. Julia Bradley came through with 12 kills and four blocks. Kelsey Jones provided 39 assists, Richelle Clem had eight kills and 16 digs while Kathy Godinez added 13 digs. [STATS]
Nov. 8, at Malone
Paula Thompson buried 18 kills to lead Cedarville to a 30-26, 30-18, 35-33 victory at American Mideast Conference foe Malone in the regular season finale. The outcome reversed a three-game setback at home to the Pioneers last month and gave the Lady Jackets second place outright in the division. Richelle Clem came through with 10 kills and a team-high 27 digs. Lauren Mable was good for nine kills and 19 digs. Kelsey Jones returned to the line-up to contribute 42 assists and break the school record for most assists in a season. Julia Bradley added seven kills while Kathy Godinez tallied 16 digs. [STATS]

Walsh won the American Mideast Conference South Division title with a three-game sweep over Cedarville. The NAIA No. 14 Cavaliers won by scores of 30-28, 30-16, 30-19. Richelle Clem tallied 10 kills and 14 digs to pace the Lady Jackets. Lauren Mable, who served as the primary setter in place of injured Kelsey Jones, produced 25 assists and 12 digs. Nov. 4, OHIO DOMINICAN
Julia Bradley pounded 21 kills with five blocks to lead Cedarville to a key American Mideast Conference South Division victory over Ohio Dominican in the final home match of the season. The Jackets won by scores of 25-30, 30-26, 30-15, 21-30, 15-12 to clinch no worse than a second-place finish in the division. Kelsey Jones, who was playing on a badly sprained ankle that she suffered four days ago at the NCCAA Nationals, grit her teeth for 63 assists and 14 digs. Oct. 31, Christian Heritage (at NCCAA National Tournament)
Christian Heritage ended Cedarville's stay at the NCCAA National Tournament by defeating the Lady Jackets 30-22, 30-25, 30-21. With the absence of injured Kelsey Jones, Lauren Mable moved into the role of primary setter and responded with 31 assists and 11 digs. Aaryn Phillips had a team-high 11 kills with 12 digs. Oct. 31, Union (at NCCAA National Tournament)
Union rolled past the Lady Jackets at the NCCAA Nationals 30-19, 30-16, 30-14. Julia Bradley tallied eight kills while Lauren Mable had seven kills and 19 digs. Oct. 30, Trinity International (at NCCAA National Tournament)
Cedarville completed the day at the NCCAA Nationals with a 30-27, 28-30, 30-26, 30-23 victory over Trinity International. Julia Bradley led the attack with 21 kills with Lauren Mable putting down 20 kills while tallying a team-high 30 digs. Paula Thompson buried 17 kills, Kelsey Jones had 63 assists with 21 digs, and Kathy Godinez came up with 20 digs. [STATS]
Oct. 30, Palm Beach Atlantic (at NCCAA National Tournament)
Palm Beach Atlantic rallied to knock off the Lady Jackets in the opening match of the NCCAA Nationals by scores of 28-30, 30-19, 19-30, 30-28, 15-9. Lauren Mable pounded 26 kills to go along with 24 digs. Julia Bradley added 11 kills while Paula Thompson chipped in 10. Kelsey Jones recorded 58 assists with 17 digs and Kathy Godinez had 16 digs. Oct. 28, CENTRAL STATE
Kelsey Jones handed out 48 assists and Julia Bradley pounded a team-high 16 kills to lead Cedarville to a three-game sweep over Central State in a non-conference match. The Lady Jackets won by scores of 30-11, 30-13, 30-10. Lauren Mable added 15 kills, 10 digs, and 4 service aces to the attack while four other players buried five or more kills apiece. Kathy Godinez tallied a team-high 11 digs. Jones and Michelle Ince served up three aces each. Cedarville posted a .611 team attack percentage and recorded 13 aces total in the three games. [STATS]

Paula Thompson pounded 18 kills and Julia Bradley added 15 as Cedarville swept Urbana in an American Mideast Conference South Division match. The winning numbers for the Lady Jackets were 30-25, 30-24, 30-18. Lauren Mable contributed 12 kills and a team-high 18 digs in the win. Oct. 18, INDIANA WESLEYAN (NCCAA Midwest Regional)
Indiana Wesleyan won the title match by scores of 30-28, 30-21, 30-27. Lauren Mable had 15 kills as the only Lady Jacket to reach double figures. Paula Thompson put away six kills to become the 10th player in school history to surpass 1,000 career kills. Kelsey Jones totaled 31 assists and 17 digs while Kathy Godinez had 16 digs. Cedarville began the day with a 30-23, 25-30, 30-7, 30-22 win versus Spring Arbor. Lauren Mable pounded 17 kills, Paula Thompson tallied 15, and Julia Bradley added 10 kills with eight blocks. Oct. 14, at Ohio Dominican
Julia Bradley buried a career-high 26 kills to lead the Lady Jackets to a 3-0 win at Ohio Dominican in American Mideast Conference South Division action. Cedarville swept the Panthers 30-25, 30-26, 30-21 as they rebounded from a two-match setback over the weekend. Bradley also came up with three blocks to lead the way at the net. Paula Thompson pounded 11 kills with four blocks while Lauren Mable tallied 11 kills and 14 digs. Kelsey Jones racked up 45 assists and joined Mable for team-high honors with 14 digs. Malone spoiled the Lady Jackets' Homecoming by sweeping Cedarville, 3-0, in an American Mideast Conference South Division match. The Pioneers won by scores of 30-22, 30-28, 30-27. Lauren Mable was the only CU player to reach double figures in kills with 12 to go along with 12 digs. A Callan Athletic Center record women's volleyball crowd of more than 900 watched NAIA No. 12 Walsh bounce back to defeat Cedarville, 3-1, in a match pitting the top two teams in the American Mideast Conference South Division. The Cavaliers won by scores of 25-30, 30-27, 30-21, 30-26 to stop the Lady Jackets' winning streak at eight. Lauren Mable pounded 17 kills and came up with 29 digs - both team highs. Paula Thompson put down 15 kills while Julia Bradley added 12. Kelsey Jones totaled 41 assists with 20 digs while Richelle Clem had 19 digs. The Lady Jackets limited host Central State to 18 points total while sweeping the Lady Marauders, 3-0, in a non-conference match. Cedarville won by scores of 30-5, 30-5, 30-8. Julia Bradley buried 14 kills with seven blocks while Lauren Mable totaled 13 kills and 14 digs. Kelsey Jones handed out 50 assists. [STATS]
Oct. 2, WILMINGTON
The Lady Jackets cruised to their fifth consecutive victory with a 30-17, 30-14, 30-6 non-conference decision over visiting Wilmington. Cedarville has won every match during the streak by 3-0 counts and they have been victorious in 10 of their last 11 matches overall. Freshmen middle hitter Julia Bradley led a balanced attack with 10 kills and five blocks. NAIA National Setter of the Week Kelsey Jones had 40 assists while Lauren Mable recorded a team-high nine digs. Richelle Clem served up four of the squad's 13 aces. Paula Thompson and Anne Lohrenz buried seven kills apiece, and Michelle Ince added eight digs. It was the 58th meeting on the volleyball court between the two longtime rivals. The Lady Jackets have won four straight matches overall and nine of their last ten. Lauren Mable had 16 kills and 15 digs to pace CU while Kelsey Jones produced 32 assists and 19 digs. Cedarville kept its American Mideast Conference South Division unbeaten streak alive by sweeping host Shawnee State, 3-0. The Lady Jackets won by scores of 30-15, 30-17, 30-17 to take both matches played against the Bears this season. Lauren Mable buried 16 kills and came up with 16 digs to lead Cedarville. The Lady Jackets won by scores of 30-12, 30-12, 30-14 as all 11 players in uniform for CU saw action in at least two games. Julia Bradley paced a balanced Cedarville attack with eight kills to go along with five blocks. Paula Thompson buried eight kills, Aaryn Phillips chipped in seven while Lauren Mable and Erica Paugh had six each. The Lady Jackets moved to 4-0 in the American Mideast Conference South Division by knocking off Tiffin for the second time in five days. Cedarville swept the Dragons 30-19, 38-36, 30-22. Paula Thompson pounded a team-high 17 kills to lead the offense. Lauren Mable registered 12 kills and 32 digs while Richelle Clem came through with 12 kills and 16 digs. The Jackets won by scores of 30-25, 30-28, 28-30, 30-20. Julia Bradley came through with 14 kills. Paula Thompson had 11 kills and six blocks while Richelle Clem produced 11 kills and 21 digs. Kelsey Jones handed out 52 assists to go along with 18 digs and Kathy Godinez added 19 digs. It was the fourth straight win for the Lady Jackets and their sixth in the past eight matches. [STATS]

Paula Thompson pounded 23 kills and Lauren Mable put down 22 more to rally Cedarville to a 3-2 victory at Mount Vernon Nazarene in American Mideast Conference South Division action. The winning numbers for the Lady Jackets were 27-30, 30-24, 30-26, 26-30, 15-12. Cedarville, which had never won on the Cougars' home court until last year, made this year's trip without head coach Teresa Clark, who stayed behind due to illness. Her husband and assistant coach, Jim Clark, as well as assistant Merilee Shank took over and the Jackets bounced back from an 11-7 deficit in the fifth game to win it. Mable totaled 31 digs, Kathy Godinez had 30, and Richelle Clem chipped in 25. Kelsey Jones recorded 60 assists and 19 digs. Cedarville entered the match ranked No. 5 in NAIA Region IX and MVNU is No. 2. [STATS]

Sept. 11, SHAWNEE STATE
Cedarville opened the American Mideast Conference South Division schedule with a difficult 3-2 victory over Shawnee State. The Yellow Jackets won by scores of 20-30, 30-22, 30-24, 25-30, 15-9 in what was their fifth five-game match out of ten played to date. Cedarville needed a rally after dropping the first game. The hosts eventually took immediate control in the fifth game by jumping out to a 10-3 advantage. Lauren Mable hammered 19 kills with a career-high 34 digs. Aaron Phillips powered a career-high 14 kills. Julia Bradley had 14 kills and Paula Thompson added 13. Bethel eliminated the Lady Jackets, 3-2, in the semifinals of the 16th Annual Cedarville Invitational. However, CU landed three players on the 12-member all-tournament team. The Pilots took control early and hung on for a 30-23, 30-15, 25-30, 23-30, 15-11 win. Lauren Mable pounded a career-high 20 kills to go along with 25 digs. The Lady Jackets took care of Central State 30-12, 30-9, 30-4. Paula Thompson produced 16 kills and Kelsey Jones set up 30 assists. Rachel Anderson set a new school record for the most serves attempted in one match with 44. [STATS]
Sept. 5, GRACE (16th Annual Cedarville Invitational)

Sept. 2, SAINT FRANCIS (Ind.)
Lauren Mable pounded 18 kills and recorded 18 digs to lead Cedarville to a 3-2 victory over Saint Francis (Ind.) in non-conference volleyball action. It was the home opener for the Lady Jackets, who have already played three five-game matches in their first five assignments. CU's winning numbers were 30-28, 24-30, 30-22, 23-30, 15-13. The Jackets broke a 6-6 tie in the fifth game with three unanswered points and never relinquished the lead the rest of the way. The Lady Jackets opened the 2003 schedule with a five-game marathon victory at Saint Vincent. Cedarville outlasted the Bearcats 30-21, 27-30, 32-30, 24-30, 16-14.
