Melissa Mattner is in her third year at Cedarville University and her first as a member of the cross country program.....participated on the track & field team as a sophomore which was her first experience in intercollegiate athletics.....competed in the 800 and 1,500 meter runs.....placed 6th in the 1,500 at the NCCAA Outdoor Nationals with a career-best time of 4:58.03.....finished 3rd in the event at the Taylor Invitational in 4:59.60.....fastest time in the 800 was 2:31.18.

High School - Participated in three sports during her prep career at Elkhart Baptist Christian High School, but did not have any distance running experience.....played three seasons of basketball with two letters, three years of volleyball with one letter, and also played one year of softball.....National Honor Society student.

Personal - Dean's List student as a middle childhood education major at Cedarville University.....born 6/20/83 in Northvale, NJ.....daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Mattner.....has two younger sisters.
