Josh Smith is the most experienced member of the Yellow Jacket pitching staff.....has appeared in 33 games during his career with 30 as a starter..... returns for his fifth season in the program after being granted a medical hardship upon injuring his shoulder in 2004.....went 2-4 last spring with a complete-game.....got the victory in a 4-3 decision over AMC foe Tiffin. 2003 - Ranked second on the club with 11 starts.....went eight innings to notch a 5-2 win versus Wittenberg.....allowed six hits in six innings in an 8-6 American Mideast Conference victory at Tiffin. 2002 - Appeared in 11 games with nine starts on the mound as a sophomore.....tossed all 12 innings and allowed just five hits with seven strikeouts in a 1-0 victory against American Mideast Conference foe Urbana.....50 innings pitched was the second-highest on the staff.....posted 2 victories and 7 losses. 2001 - Experienced a notable rookie season with a 4-5 record coupled with a 3.77 ERA.....honorable mention selection on the NCCAA Midwest Region Team.....ranked second on the staff in starts (10), complete games (4), and innings pitched (57 1/3).....won his first two collegiate decisions at Asbury and Toccoa Falls. High School - Four-year letter winner in both baseball and basketball at Open Door Christian High School.....school's Senior Athlete of the Year.....had a 7-1 record on the mound as a senior with a 0.98 ERA.....two-time all-county performer.....two-time all-district and all-county basketball player, who averaged 21 points per game as a junior and 15 as a senior.....National Honor Society student. Personal - Carries a sport management major at Cedarville University.....born 9/14/81 in Lorain, OH.....son of Michael and Rosalie Smith.....has one younger sister.
