CEDARVILLE, Ohio (6-24-2005) - Two student-athletes have signed letters of intent to attend Cedarville University and play golf for the Yellow Jackets according to CU head coach Ryan Bowen.

Scott Aker will transfer from nearby Wittenberg University, located in his hometown of Springfield, Ohio. He has two years of eligibility remaining and can begin play immediately this fall. Aker averaged 77.8 strokes per 18 holes as a sophomore at Wittenberg where he earned all-conference second team honors. He carried a 76.4 average as a freshman and had the second-lowest average on the team during both of his seasons with the Tigers.

Most recently, Aker placed 3rd in the USGA Amateur Public Links sectional with rounds of 70-76-146. He was also the medalist in the stroke qualifier for the Miami Valley Match Play Championship with 70-73-143. Aker, who was the 2003 Springfield City Amateur champion and the 2004 runner-up, was a two-time all-state golfer at Shawnee High School. He was also a two-time Springfield Area, Clark County, and Central Buckeye Conference Player of the Year.

Also joining the CU linksters is Brett Bigler, who is from Concord High School in Elkhart, Ind. He led his team to a state tournament berth after carding a 72 in the regional to tie for second place. Bigler helped the Minutemen to a sectional championship this spring and to a runner-up finish in the regional.
