CEDARVILLE, Ohio (6-22-2005) - Cedarville University men’s soccer coach Ben Belleman has been elected to the Ohio Scholastic Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame. He will be inducted at the association’s annual all-state banquet in December.

Belleman, a 1979 Cedarville graduate, has posted a 56-30-6 record in four years as head coach at his alma mater. He came to CU after recording 256 victories during a 21-year high school coaching career. He spent 18 years at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy in Ohio where he served as athletic director and won 205 matches as the boys' head soccer coach.

Belleman took one team to the Ohio Division II semifinals and seven squads to the quarterfinals. He was a two-time Ohio Division II Coach of the Year and was accorded the same honor for Division III following the 2000 season. He was active in all facets of high school soccer and is a past president of the OSSCA.

CVCA's soccer team was a five-time recipient of the Sandor Reinor Sportsmanship Award as selected by the Greater Akron Soccer Officials Association. Belleman was presented the 1988 Ron Pinschenshum Memorial Award for outstanding character by the OSSCA. [MORE]

Belleman brings on seven signees
CEDARVILLE, Ohio (6-13-2005) - No less than seven players have signed letters of intent to attend Cedarville University and play soccer for the Yellow Jackets according to head coach Ben Belleman. The list includes three midfielders, two forwards, one defender, and one goalkeeper.

Dave Malpass is a forward from Cary, N.C. He was a two-time team MVP at St. David’s High School and played on the ODP (Olympic Development Program) state team. Malpass’ older sister, Kristen, is a starting defender for the Lady Jackets. The other forward is Wellington (Ohio) High School product Ryan Hyde. He was named to the All-Ohio Division III First Team, was the district Player of the Year, and was the Cleveland Plain Dealer Lorain County Player of the Year for all divisions.

Heading up the list of midfielders is Jesse Fox, a transfer from Trinity International University in Illinois. He was a team captain and two-year starter for the Trojans. West Chester, Ohio native Ryan Lustig was an All-Greater Miami Conference selection at Lakota East High School. He played on the ODP state team and his club team won the State Cup. Rounding out the midfielders is Cedarville High School graduate Jason Cunningham. Though the Indians do not have varsity soccer, Cunningham, who was an All-Ohio Division VI First Team defensive back in football, played four years with the Cedarville Soccer Association club team.

Scott Crawford, a defender from Columbus, Ohio, was the Mid-Ohio Christian Athletic League Player of the Year representing Tree of Life Christian School. He was a four-year starter and was an OHSAA Central District Senior All-Star. Jeremy Auyer is a goalkeeper from Faith Heritage Christian High School in Liverpool, N.Y. He played for the ODP state team, was an NACA All-American, earned all-conference first team honors, and was tabbed to the All-Central New York Third Team.
