Jason Mattern is one of six pole vaulters on the Yellow Jacket roster and is the only senior on the list.....finished 3rd in the Yellow Jacket Open with a career-best mark of 14-feet even.....cleared 13-11.25 to place 5th in the NCCAA Outdoor Championship and produced the same effort at Miami.....cleared an indoor career-high 13-6.25 at Ohio Northern.....placed 6th in the NCCAA Indoor Championship at 13-feet even and was 5th in the American Mideast Conference (12-6).....sat out the 2003 season. 2002 - Cleared a season-high 13-feet as a freshman at both the Miami Invitational and the Cincinnati Classic.....finished 6th in the AMC with an 11-5.75 effort and was 11th at the NCCAA Nationals at 11-11.75.....best indoor performance was a 13-0 mark at Denison. High School - Four-year letter winner in track & field at nearby Shawnee State High School which has produced a number of track athletes for the Yellow Jackets.....earned All-Central Buckeye Conference honors in the pole vault and was an All-Clark County selection.....cleared a career-best 12-6.....four-year participant in cross country and earned three letters.....National Honor Society student. Personal - Carries a physical activities and sports studies major at Cedarville University.....born 9/21/82 in Springfield, OH.....son of Timothy and Debra Mattern.....younger brother, Justin, is a junior pole vaulter with the Yellow Jackets.....has one other younger brother.
