Courtney Thayer is back for her third season with the CU softball team after transferring from NCAA Division I Liberty University.....will hold down the catching duties......played in 38 games last spring with 35 starts - 34 behind the plate and 1 as DH.....compiled a .250 batting average with 27 hits in 108 at bats.....tied for team lead with five doubles.....fourth on the squad with 34 total bases.....registered just one error in 247 chances for a school-record .996 fielding percentage.....posted four two-hit games during the year.....drove in two runs and scored a run in a win against Rio Grande. 2003 - Appeared in 29 games with 25 starts behind the plate and three starts as the DP in her first season with the Lady Jackets....hit .234 on 18 hits in 77 at bats.....recorded a .988 fielding percentage.....registered two doubles and one triple while posting three multiple-RBI games.....added three hits in a loss to Rio Grande.....produced three hits and two RBI’s in a 6-2 victory over Shawnee State. High School - Four-year letter winner in softball at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy.....voted to the Northern Ohio Second Team and played in the Ohio North-South All-Star Game.....three-time Akron Area All-Star.....team was ranked No. 4 in the state as a senior.....graduated with school all-time marks in RBI's (68), runs scored (80), doubles (28), and home runs (16).....played in the 2000 World Cup in France.....earned three letters in volleyball and two more in basketball. Personal - Carries an early childhood education major at Cedarville University.....born 2/28/83 in Akron, OH.....daughter of Bud and Holly Thayer.....has one younger brother and a younger sister.
