Jackie Greetham

Greetham earns scholar-athlete recognition
CEDARVILLE, Ohio (5-26-2005) - Jackie Greetham has been named an NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete for the 2005 season. The list includes juniors and seniors who maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average.

Greetham, a junior outfielder, carries a graphic design major. She was also tabbed an NCCAA All-America Scholar-Athlete as well as an American Mideast Conference Scholar-Athlete. On the field, Greetham started 41 games for the 27-15 Lady Jackets and ranked 2nd on the club with a .344 batting average after hitting .556 in the last nine games of the season. Fox, Honeycutt head up Lady Jacket AMC honors
CEDARVILLE, Ohio (5-20-2005) - Natalie Fox was selected to the All-AMC South Division First Team for the fourth straight year and Jessica Honeycutt was named Freshman of the Year in voting by the league’s coaches. They were two of five Lady Jacket players to be recognized.

Fox, a senior righthander, was 16-9 this spring with a 2.05 earned run average. She holds many of CU’s all-time pitching records including most victories (56) and strikeouts (559). Joining Fox on the first team were senior center fielder Ginger Keithley as well as senior catcher Courtney Thayer. Keithley led the Lady Jackets with a .359 batting average, 30 runs, and 27 steals. She started all 171 games over the past four years and stole a school record 132 bases and scored 115 runs. Thayer hit .339 this year with a team-leading 12 doubles. The threesome was also chosen for the All-NAIA Region IX Team.

Junior righthander Allie Smith earned a spot on the All-AMC South Division Second Team. She was 9-5 in the circle with a 1.71 ERA. Honeycutt, who was All-AMC South honorable mention, was voted the division’s Freshman of the Year. The rookie third baseman hit .340 with 15 RBI’s. Cedarville season ends at NAIA regional
COLUMBUS, Ohio (5-12-2005) - Tiffin eliminated Cedarville from the NAIA Region IX Tournament with a 4-1 decision. The Lady Jackets began the day with a 7-3 victory over Urbana.

AMC North Division champion Tiffin broke a scoreless tie with a two-out, three-run homer in the bottom of the 4th inning. CU averted the shutout when Ginger Keithley beat out an infield single with two out in the 7th which allowed Jessica Honeycutt to score. Whitney Kirby recorded two of the team’s eight hits. The Lady Jackets never trailed in taking out Urbana after Keithley opened the game with a double and later scored. Kirby had three hits and two runs batted in, Jackie Greetham added two hits and two runs scored, and Aubree Munson tripled in two runs. Winning pitcher Natalie Fox registered her 16th victory of the season and the 56th of her career. [BOXSCORE]

It’s the second consecutive season that Cedarville finished with a 27-15 overall record. It’s also the fifth time in head coach Sue Carpenter’s six seasons that the Jackets posted a .500 record or better. [NAIA REGION IX TOURNAMENT BRACKET]
