May 12, Bethel (NCCAA National Tournament)
Bethel edged Cedarville, 5-4, in the 3rd place match at the NCCAA National Tournament. The Jackets had won a 5-4 decision in a non-conference match played between the two schools on April 23. Everything played out the same with the exception that CU won one doubles match this time instead of two. The #1 tandem of Jodi Kraker and Alisa Rutt were 8-5 winners. The Jackets earned points in singles from #3 Jolene Bennington (6-0, 6-2), #4 Laura McCully (6-2, 6-0), and #6 Courtney Ruffin (7-6, 7-5). [RESULTS]

May 11, Palm Beach Atlantic (NCCAA National Tournament)
Palm Beach Atlantic edged the Lady Jackets, 5-4, is the semifinals of the NCCAA National Tournament. PBA came out of doubles with a 2-1 advantage. The Jackets’ lone point came at the #3 spot as Courtney Ruffin and Melinda Workman produced an 8-2 win. The Sailfish won at the top three singles positions while CU controlled the bottom three. Lady Jacket winners were Laura McCully (6-4, 6-4), Workman (6-2, 6-2), and Ruffin (4-6, 6-1, 6-4). [RESULTS]

May 11, Indiana Wesleyan (NCCAA National Tournament)
NAIA No. 14 Indiana Wesleyan blanked Cedarville, 5-0, to close out pool play at the NCCAA National Tournament. The Wildcats swept the three doubles matches and wrapped up the contest with wins at #4 and #5 singles. [RESULTS]

May 10, Geneva (NCCAA National Tournament)
The Lady Jackets knocked off fellow American Mideast Conference member Geneva, 5-0, at the NCCAA Nationals. Cedarville swept the doubles to take command early. The #1 squad of Jodi Kraker and Alisa Rutt came through with an 8-2 win. Jolene Bennington and Laura McCully were 8-4 victors while Courtney Ruffin and Melinda Workman cruised to an 8-1 decision. Workman at #5 singles (6-2, 6-0) and Ruffin at #6 (6-1, 6-4) secured the 5-0 victory. [RESULTS]

May 10, Emmanuel (NCCAA National Tournament)
Cedarville opened NCCAA National Tournament play with a 5-2 win versus Emmanuel. Jolene Bennington and Laura McCully were 8-4 winners at #2 doubles. The #3 duo of Courtney Ruffin and Melinda Workman posted an 8-2 decision. CU clinched the outcome with three singles victories. They came from #2 Alisa Rutt (6-0, 6-1); #3 Bennington (6-1, 6-3), and #6 Ruffin (6-0, 6-1). [RESULTS]

April 23, BETHEL
Cedarville wrapped up the regular season by edging Bethel, 5-4, in a non-conference match. The contest was played indoors at the Springfield Racquet Club due to snow. Jodi Kraker and Alisa Rutt won their #1 doubles match, 8-3, and the #3 duo of Courtney Ruffin and Melinda Workman also won, 8-5. Laura McCully cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 decision at #4 singles. Then, it was seniors Jolene Bennington, who was a 7-5, 6-2 winner at the #3 spot, and #6 Courtney Ruffin, who won 6-7, 6-4, 6-2, who clinched the outcome in the final home match of their careers. April 22, WALSH
AMC South Division foe Walsh beat the Lady Jackets, 7-2, which denied the three-time defending NAIA Region IX champions a playoff berth. Cedarville will host the six-team regional tournament but did not earn a spot to play in it. The Jackets fell behind 3-0 after doubles. That forced them to attempt to win five of the six singles matches and a victory would have propelled them into the regional tournament. The points Cedarville came away with were produced by #2 Alisa Rutt (6-1, 6-2) and #3 Jolene Bennington (6-1, 7-5). The match was played indoors at the Springfield Racquet Club. [RESULTS]

April 19, SHAWNEE STATE
Cedarville squared its American Mideast Conference South Division record at 2-2 with a 9-0 victory over Shawnee State. The netters have won three of their last four matches. The Jackets cruised through the three doubles matches losing just three games total. CU swept the singles in straight sets with wins coming from Alisa Rutt, Jolene Bennington, Laura McCully, Melinda Workman, Courtney Ruffin, and Olivia Dolph. [RESULTS]

April 18, MALONE
Cedarville won its first AMC South Division match of the season with a convincing 8-1 decision over visiting Malone. The Lady Jackets took a slim 2-1 lead following doubles play. The #2 squad of Jolene Bennington and Laura McCully posted an 8-4 victory and the #3 tandem of Melinda Workman and Courtney Ruffin rolled to an 8-0 win. CU closed out the match by sweeping all six singles matches in straight sets. The winners were Jodi Kraker (6-2, 6-1), Alisa Rutt (6-1, 6-0), Bennington (6-1, 6-1), McCully (6-0, 6-0), Workman (6-3, 6-1), and Ruffin (6-1, 6-4). [RESULTS]

April 16, at Indiana Wesleyan
NAIA No. 13 Indiana Wesleyan handed the Lady Jackets a 9-0 setback in a non-conference match. Cedarville did not go down easy after the Wildcats won the three doubles matches by 8-5, 8-4, and 8-2 scores. Three of the singles matches went three sets and CU players held a 1-0 lead in two of them. Those pushing their opponents to the three-set limit were #1 Jodi Kraker (6-4, 5-7, 3-6), #2 Alisa Rutt (2-6, 6-3, 5-7), and #6 Olivia Dolph (7-6, 3-6, 2-6). [RESULTS]

April 15, at Taylor
The Lady Jackets bounced back with four singles wins in six matches to rally for a 5-4 non-conference victory at Taylor for their second win in a row. The Trojans took a 2-1 lead after the doubles competition. CU’s lone point came from the #3 duo of Courtney Ruffin and Melinda Workman, who posted an 8-2 win. In singles, #1 Jodi Kraker and #2 Alisa Rutt recorded victories against the same two players who edged them 9-8 at #1 doubles. Kraker won by scores of 6-3, 6-2 and Rutt endured a 7-6, 7-6 outcome. Cedarville claimed the victory with additional points from Workman at the #5 spot, 6-2, 6-1; and #6 Ruffin, 6-3, 6-2. [RESULTS]

April 14, at Georgetown
Cedarville ended a three-match losing streak with a 7-2 victory at Georgetown in a non-conference match. No. 1 player Jodi Kraker and #2 Alisa Rutt gave the Lady Jackets a boost by securing three points between themselves. They won their #1 doubles match 8-4. Then, both picked up singles victories in straight sets with Kraker pulling out a 7-6, 7-6 decision and Rutt having an easier time by 6-4, 6-0 scores. Melinda Workman and Courtney Ruffin also combined for three points. They were winners at #3 doubles, 8-6, before Workman won her #5 singles assignment 7-5, 6-2 and #6 Ruffin posted a 7-5, 6-1 win. CU’s other point came from #4 singles player Laura McCully, 7-6, 6-2. [RESULTS]

April 11, at Ohio Dominican
Ohio Dominican handed the Lady Jackets their third straight loss in a 5-4 decision in AMC South Division play. It’s the first time since 1996 that Cedarville has suffered two conference losses in the same season. The Panthers led 2-1 after doubles. CU’s point came in an 8-3 decision from #3 Courtney Ruffin and Melinda Workman. The two teams split the six singles matches. Lady Jacket winners were #1 Jodi Kraker, 6-4, 6-3; #5 Workman, 6-3, 6-2; and #6 Ruffin, 6-1, 6-0. [RESULTS]

April 9, INDIANA-SOUTHEAST
Indiana-Southeast handed Cedarville a convincing 7-2 setback in a non-conference match played on the campus courts. It was the Lady Jackets’ second straight loss. The Grenadiers swept the three doubles matches to take control. CU’s only points came in singles with #4 Laura McCully posting a 7-6, 6-3 victory and #5 Melinda Workman taking a 6-2, 7-5 decision. April 5, at Tiffin
Tiffin surprised three-time defending NAIA Region IX champion Cedarville, 6-3, in an AMC South Division match. It was the first American Mideast Conference loss in two seasons for the Lady Jackets and just their second in the last 30 league assignments. CU earned one point in doubles with the #3 pairing of Courtney Ruffin and Melinda Workman posting an 8-5 victory. Singles wins came from #2 Alisa Rutt, 6-2, 6-1; and #3 Jolene Bennington, 6-2, 6-0. March 19, at Grace
Cedarville swept all six singles matches picked up an 8-1 non-conference victory at Grace. The Jackets led 2-1 coming out of doubles with the #2 tandem of Jolene Bennington and Laura McCully (8-3) as well as the #3 squad of Courtney Ruffin and Melinda Workman (8-5) producing wins. Straight-set singles winners were #1 Jodi Kraker, #2 Alisa Rutt, #5 Workman, and #6 Ruffin. Working overtime for points were #3 Bennington (6-2, 6-7, 7-5) and #4 McCully (3-6, 6-1, 6-2). [RESULTS]

March 17, CENTRAL STATE
The Jackets cruised by Greene County rival Central State, 9-0, in a non-conference match. It was the first competition of the season played on the outdoor campus courts. Jodi Kraker and Alisa Rutt won 8-0 at #1 doubles and Jolene Bennington and Laura McCully took their #2 doubles match by the same 8-0 count. Courtney Ruffin and Melinda Workman won by forfeit at the #3 spot. Cedarville lost just one set and 14 games total in sweeping the six singles matches. [RESULTS]

March 11, at Judson (Ala.)
Cedarville completed its spring break trip with a 9-0 victory at Judson (Ala.). The Jackets took the top two doubles matches by 8-0 scores and won the third one, 8-3. Singles winners were Jolene Bennington, Melinda Workman, Courtney Ruffin, Olivia Dolph, Colleen Derry, and Jade Burley. [RESULTS]

March 10, at Spring Hill
Spring Hill downed the Lady Jackets, 9-0, in a non-conference match played in Mobile, Ala. Cedarville was swept in straight sets in singles, but #5 Melinda Workman and #6 Courtney Ruffin went down in tight matches. Workman lost 6-7, 7-6, 10-5 and Ruffin dropped her match, 4-6, 7-5, 10-5. [RESULTS]

Feb. 28, WILMINGTON
Cedarville began the 2005 campaign with an 8-1 non-conference victory over Wilmington. The match was played indoors at the Springfield Racquet Club. Alisa Rutt, Jolene Bennington, Melinda Workman, Laura McCully, and Courtney Ruffin ran off straight-set wins in singles positions 2-thru-5. The Jackets also swept the three doubles matches. [RESULTS]
