Jackets sign two players for 2006
CEDARVILLE, Ohio (8-5-2005) - Two players have committed to Cedarville University and will play tennis for the Lady Jackets. Anna Strayhorn, a native of Falmouth, Maine comes to CU following a successful high school career. She played doubles for her undefeated high school squad that won the 2005 Maine state championship.

Also coming to the Lady Jackets is junior transfer Betsy Verwys from Grand Rapids, Mich.. She posted an 8-2 singles record last season at Grand Rapids Community College.

Kraker leads NAIA, NCCAA recognition for CU
CEDARVILLE, Ohio (5-18-2005) - Jodi Kraker was voted to the NCCAA All-America Team in both singles and doubles for the third straight year to head up a short list of Lady Jacket honorees. She was also named an NCCAA All-America Scholar-Athlete which recognizes juniors and seniors who maintain a minimum 3.40 cumulative grade point average.

Kraker earned a spot on the All-America first team in singles and on the second team in doubles. CU freshman Alisa Rutt was also tabbed an NCCAA Second Team All-American in both singles and doubles. Kraker was named an NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete (minimum 3.50 GPA) while senior four-year performer Jolene Bennington joined her as an NCCAA All-America Scholar-Athlete. Bethel nips Cedarville in season finale
GREER, S.C. (5-12-2005) - Bethel edged Cedarville, 5-4, in the 3rd place match at the NCCAA National Tournament. The Jackets had won a 5-4 decision in a non-conference match played between the two schools on April 23.

Everything played out the same with the exception that CU won one doubles match this time instead of two. The #1 tandem of Jodi Kraker and Alisa Rutt were 8-5 winners. The Jackets earned points in singles from #3 Jolene Bennington (6-0, 6-2), #4 Laura McCully (6-2, 6-0), and #6 Courtney Ruffin (7-6, 7-5). [RESULTS]

CU drops 5-4 decision in NCCAA semis
GREER, S.C. (5-11-2005) - Palm Beach Atlantic edged the Lady Jackets, 5-4, is the semifinals of the NCCAA National Tournament. Earlier in the day, NAIA No. 14 Indiana Wesleyan blanked Cedarville, 5-0, to close out pool play.

PBA came out of doubles with a 2-1 advantage. The Jackets’ lone point came at the #3 spot as Courtney Ruffin and Melinda Workman produced an 8-2 win. The Sailfish won at the top three singles positions while CU controlled the bottom three. Lady Jacket winners were Laura McCully (6-4, 6-4), Workman (6-2, 6-2), and Ruffin (4-6, 6-1, 6-4). [RESULTS]

Indiana Wesleyan shut out Cedarville for the second time this season. The Wildcats swept the three doubles matches and wrapped up the contest with wins at #4 and #5 singles. [RESULTS]
