CU signs five for 2005
CEDARVILLE, Ohio (6-9-2005) - Lady Jacket cross country coach Elvin King has signed five athletes to join Cedarville’s nationally-ranked program for the 2005 campaign. Local product Elisabeth Pyles moves across the street from Cedarville High School as the Ohio Division III state champion in the 3,200 meters this spring on the track.

Beth Davies, a graduate of nearby Shawnee High School in Springfield, returned to the Ohio Division II state track & field meet in the 800 meters. Jessica Squier, a homeschool student from Montrose, Pa., was the state cross country runner-up last fall while running for Elk Lake High School; Brittany Simpson, a graduate of Kennebunk (Maine) High School, placed 4th in the Class A state cross country meet as a senior; and Stacey Keller, a product from Harrisburg (Pa.) Christian High School, was a two-time state meet participant.

King has developed Cedarville into a perennial NAIA power in women’s cross country. The Lady Jackets won the 2001 NAIA national title and have posted five straight NAIA Top 10 finishes. Cedarville returns two All-Americans from last year’s 9th-place squad.
