Melissa Mattner is a four-year student at Cedarville University and is in her second season as a member of the cross country program.....will serve as a team captain.....finished the 2003 campaign as the team’s #4 runner and competed in all nine varsity meets.....broke the 20:00 barrier six times.....ran a career-best 19:32 and finished 9th overall in the Friendship Invitational.....placed 54th at the Louisville Classic (19:45), 12th at Wilmington (19:48), 6th at Wittenberg (19:52), and 35th in the NCCAA Nationals (19:58).....CU’s #4 finisher at the NAIA Nationals in 19:49.....NCCAA All-America Scholar-Athlete. Spring 2003 - Participated on the track & field team as a sophomore which was her first experience in intercollegiate athletics.....competed in the 800 and 1,500 meter runs.....placed 6th in the 1,500 at the NCCAA Outdoor Nationals with a career-best time of 4:58.03.....finished 3rd in the event at the Taylor Invitational in 4:59.60.....fastest time in the 800 was 2:31.18. High School - Participated in three sports during her prep career at Elkhart Baptist Christian High School, but did not have any distance running experience.....played three seasons of basketball with two letters, three years of volleyball with one letter, and also played one year of softball.....National Honor Society student. Personal - Dean's List student as a middle childhood education major at Cedarville University.....born 6/20/83 in Northvale, NJ.....daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Mattner.....has two younger sisters. | ||
