April 29, SHAWNEE STATE
Kiel Boynton tossed a complete game four-hitter and Cedarville ended a long 2006 season with a 3-2 victory over Shawnee State to gain a split of their AMC South Division doubleheader. The Bears handed the Yellow Jackets their 13th straight setback in the opener, 9-4. CU, who finishes 12-33 overall and 4-20 AMC, produced only four hits in the second contest and two of their runs were unearned. Shawnee State, 16-25 and 8-16 AMC, scored two runs in the 6th inning to knot the score at 2-2. Andrew Noble opened the bottom of the 6th with his 13th double of the season. Matt Houchin, who was 2-for-2 in the game with a run scored, delivered an RBI single to score pinch runner Tim Hubler with the winning run. Boynton then finished the 7th for his third victory and fourth complete game of the season. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE] In the first game, Shawnee State broke a 3-3 deadlock with three runs in both the 5th and 6th innings. Paul Wilson was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. April 28, at Shawnee State
The Yellow Jackets managed just five hits all day and went down to defeat twice at Shawnee State in AMC South Division action. The Bears won by scores of 3-1 and 4-0. Paul Wilson led off the opener with a single and that was the only hit Cedarville could muster in the contest. He advanced to second on a sacrifice, stole third, and then came home on an error which would be the only run CU would produce in 14 innings. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] In the nightcap, Matt Bonin started his final game as a Yellow Jacket and spun a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts. However, Shawnee State, 15-24 and 7-15 AMC, made the most of a triple, a home run, and two walks. Andrew Noble doubled for one of four hits for Cedarville, 11-32 and 3-19 AMC. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]

April 26, OHIO DOMINICAN
Ohio Dominican clinched at least a share of the AMC South Division title by grabbing both ends of a doubleheader at Cedarville. The Panthers, 28-15 overall and 17-7 AMC, won by scores of 10-2 and 13-5. ODU started quickly with a four-run 1st inning in the opener with the lead quickly swelling to 6-0. The Panthers totaled 14 hits in the contest and stole five bases to aid their cause. Matt Houchin was 2-for-3 with a double for the Yellow Jackets. Brady Workman was also 2-for-3 with a run scored. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] After leading the nightcap 8-0, Ohio Dominican withstood a five-run 5th inning by Cedarville to pull away for another eight-run victory which included 16 hits. April 22, URBANA
Urbana flexed its muscle by overpowering the Yellow Jackets, 11-2 and 9-3, to wrap up a sweep of their AMC South Division four-game series. The rejuvenated Blue Knights, who suffered through a 7-43 season last spring, upped their record to 33-16 overall and 13-7 AMC. In the opener, Urbana broke open a close contest by scoring six runs in the 6th inning. Six of their eight hits went for extra bases and they also made the most of nine walks and two hit batters. Andrew Noble doubled for one of Cedarville's four hits to go along with an RBI and run scored. Matt Houchin drove in the other run. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] The Blue Knights broke a 3-3 tie in the second game with two runs in the 6th inning and four more in the 7th. The pounded 12 hits, including two homers, and held the Jackets in check by allowing just five hits. Paul Wilson was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored for Cedarville, 11-28 and 3-15 AMC. April 21, at Urbana
Urbana cruised to a 9-1 victory and then rallied for a 12-6 win to finish off an American Mideast Conference South Division twinbill sweep against the Yellow Jackets. The second game was halted after five innings due to lightning. The Blue Knights jumped out to a 4-0 lead and pounded out 13 hits - four of which went for extra bases - as they rolled in the opener. Derek Woloshyn had two of Cedarville's six hits and drove in the team's lone run. Tim Hubler added two hits. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] Paul Wilson and Richie Reeder both homered in the 1st inning of the nightcap and the Jackets maintained a 5-2 lead after two innings. It was 6-5 entering the bottom of the 5th when Urbana struck for seven runs after two were out before the game was called because of lightning. Wilson added a double and finished with three hits, two runs scored, and two RBI's. Reeder had two hits and Matt Houchin doubled for the Jackets, 11-26 overall and 3-13 AMC. April 19, WILMINGTON (at Fifth/Third Field, Dayton)
More than 500 fans turned out at Dayton's Fifth/Third Field to watch Wilmington knock off Cedarville, 4-1, in a non-conference game. The Yellow Jackets, 11-24, had a 9-8 advantage in hits, but the Quakers used three triples and two doubles to spark their offense. Wilmington, 12-9, scored two runs in both the 3rd and 5th innings to take a 4-0 lead. Richie Reeder's RBI single in the 6th brought Paul Wilson home with CU's only run. Matt Houchin was 3-for-4 with a double while Reeder and Wilson added two hits each. Kiel Boynton, 2-3, went all nine innings for his third complete game of the season. [BOXSCORE and PHOTO GALLERY]

April 18, at Tiffin
Tiffin wrapped up a four-game season series sweep of the Yellow Jackets with 11-8 and 11-0 victories in an AMC South Division doubleheader. Cedarville hammered 16 hits and rallied from an 8-2 deficit in the opener to tie the contest following a six-run 6th inning. The Dragons quickly responded with three runs in their half of the frame to account for the final. Paul Wilson was 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI's, and a run scored. Tim Hubler, Richie Reeder, Derek Woloshyn, Brady Workman, and Phil Buben added two hits each. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] Tiffin plated six runs, five of which were unearned, in their first at bat of the second game to take control. The Dragons, 20-23 overall and 10-10 AMC, combined 10 singles and four walks with four Yellow Jacket errors to score seven unearned runs total. April 17, CAPITAL
NCAA Division III Capital never trailed in outscoring the Yellow Jackets, 8-6, in a non-conference game. The Crusaders improved their record to 10-15 while Cedarville drops to 11-21. Matt Houchin was 3-for-5 at the plate with a double and two RBI's. Richie Reeder was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI's, and a run scored. April 14, at Mount Vernon Nazarene
Derek Woloshyn had three hits and Kiel Boynton pitched a complete game as Cedarville ended a nine-game losing streak with a 6-2 win at Mount Vernon Nazarene. The Cougars won the opening contest, 12-2, in the American Mideast Conference South Division doubleheader. Woloshyn went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, a run scored, and an RBI to spark the offense. Paul Wilson had two hits, including a solo homer, and scored twice. David DiLernia and Andrew Noble also smacked doubles for the Yellow Jackets, 11-20 overall and 3-9 AMC. Boynton, 2-2, tossed his second complete game of the season and held MVNU, 15-14 and 6-6 AMC, to eight hits total - seven of which were singles. April 13, MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE
Mount Vernon Nazarene held the Yellow Jackets to nine total hits while sweeping an AMC South Division doubleheader, 14-2 and 7-3. The Cougars jumped on CU with five runs in the 1st inning of the opener and then finished off the contest with a seven-run 4th inning. Tim Hubler had two hits for the Jackets and Kevin Brown had an RBI double. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] Cedarville, 10-19 overall and 2-8 AMC, managed only three hits in game two and those came during a three-run 6th inning. Andrew Noble doubled in a run, but MVNU pitchers fanned 12 Yellow Jacket batters while improving their record to 14-13 and 5-5 AMC. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]

April 8, at Taylor
Taylor stifled Cedarville's bats with a pair of non-conference shutouts, 2-0 and 7-0. The Yellow Jackets, 10-17, have dropped six straight. Losing pitcher Matt Houchin, 3-4, deserved a better fate in the opener when he fired a one-hitter. The Trojans scored both runs in the 2nd inning on a walk, stolen base, single, a ground out, and an error. Paul Wilson, Richie Reeder, and Brady Workman had singles for CU, who had just one runner reach third base and he was thrown out at the plate in the 6th inning. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] Taylor, 25-9 overall, totaled 12 hits and scored four unearned runs in the second game to complete the sweep. April 5, BLUFFTON
Bluffton jumped out to a huge lead and then held off Cedarville, 12-10, in a non-conference game at Yellow Jacket Field. It was the fourth straight loss for CU, 10-15 overall. The Beavers, 8-11, built a 12-0 lead through six innings and threatened to end the contest via the 10-run mercy rule in seven innings. The Jackets entered the 7th with just two hits total, but then struck for five runs in the frame, one in the 8th, and four more in the 9th. Cedarville had the tying run at the plate when the game ended. David DiLernia had two hits including a double, two runs scored, and a run batted in. Paul Wilson recorded two hits with a double. April 4, TIFFIN
Tiffin rallied in their final at bat and then defeated the Yellow Jackets in extra innings to sweep an American Mideast Conference South Division doubleheader. The Dragons coasted in the opener, 15-3, and then shocked CU 8-6 in eight innings to finish the day. Cedarville took a 6-2 lead into the top of the 7th inning of the nightcap, but Tiffin came off the mat with four runs on five hits to knot the score. The Dragons, 12-17 overall and 4-6 AMC, struck for four more hits and two runs in the 8th to win it. Kevin Brown and Matt Totten had two hits each for the Yellow Jackets, 10-14 and 2-6 AMC. April 1, at Ohio Dominican
The Yellow Jackets rallied for a 7-6 AMC South Division victory at Ohio Dominican before the Panthers returned the favor in game two, 5-4. Cedarville scored two runs in the top of the 7th inning to force extra innings and then Matt Houchin singled in Paul Wilson with the gamewinner in the 9th. Rookie centerfielder Brady Workman, who delivered a three-run double in the 1st inning, threw a runner out at the plate in the bottom of the 9th to help preserve the victory. Wilson was 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored. Houchin had a pair of hits while Andrew Noble added two hits and two RBI's. Derek Koogler, 3-2, pitched the final three innings in relief to get the victory. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] The Jackets were looking for the rare sweep at ODU following a three-run 1st inning in the nightcap and they took a 4-3 advantage into the 6th. However, the Panthers, 13-10 overall and 5-3 AMC, scored twice in the frame to grab the lead and then held on. Kevin Brown doubled and had two of CU's eight hits. March 29, INDIANA WESLEYAN
The Jackets knocked off Indiana Wesleyan, 4-1, for their third win in a row before the Wildcats took the second game of the non-conference doubleheader, 2-0. Cedarville scored all four of its runs in the 2nd inning. Matt Totten singled in a run, Alex Pummell beat out a bunt to bring home Totten, and Andrew Noble delivered a two-out, two-run single. Noble and Totten had two hits in the game, Paul Wilson doubled, and Brady Workman had a triple. Winning pitcher Derek Koogler squared his record at 2-2 and Matt Bonin worked the 7th inning to get the save. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] The Yellow Jackets, 9-11 overall, scratched out three singles in the second game and had two runners stranded at third base. March 28, MYERS
Matt Houchin and Kiel Boynton each tossed a complete game to lead Cedarville to a pair of non-conference wins over Myers, 5-2 and 6-0. Houchin improved to 3-2 in the opener after striking out eight and walking one. The Yellow Jackets made the most of four hits. David DiLernia tripled in a run while Andrew Noble contributed a double, a run scored, and an RBI. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] Boynton limited the Mustangs, 6-14 overall, to four hits in the second contest with five strikeouts and two walks. The first 11 CU batters that went to the plate were retired, but then the offense awoke to produce nine hits. Matt Totten was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored, and an RBI. March 24, RIO GRANDE
Rio Grande scored three times in the 6th inning to beat the Yellow Jackets, 9-6, and finish off a sweep of their AMC South Division doubleheader. It was the completion of a game suspended a day earlier due to darkness and the final three innings were wrapped up in 29-degree wind chill and snow flurries. The Redmen won the opener, 17-13 in eight innings. The Jackets, who had just two hits total in the second game, took advantage of six walks, a hit batter, and five Rio errors to rally from a 6-0 deficit to tie the game, 6-6, after five innings. The Redmen, 15-12 overall and 6-2 AMC, used the 6th inning to secure the win. Kevin Brown and pinch hitter David DiLernia had the hits for CU, 6-10 and 1-3 AMC. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE] In the opener the previous day, Cedarville erased a nine-run deficit, but then the Redmen pulled out a 17-13 victory in eight innings. The Jackets trailed 11-2 after four innings and still faced a 13-4 deficit heading to the bottom of the 6th. They scored four times in the frame on only two hits to make it 13-8. CU then plated five unearned runs in the 7th to knot the contest at 13-13. The big blows were a three-run double by Matt Houchin and a two-out game-tying single from Jordan Shumaker. The Jackets appeared poised to pull out a dramatic victory, but they left the winning run at third. Rio immediately responded with four runs in the 8th inning to get the victory in a marathon that took nearly four hours to complete. Houchin had four RBI's, Paul Wilson scored four times, and Tim Hubler and Kevin Brown recorded two hits each. March 23, at Rio Grande
Matt Totten hit a two-run homer and Matt Houchin tossed a four-hitter to give Cedarville a 2-1 win at Rio Grande in the first game of their AMC South Division doubleheader. In the nightcap, the Redmen broke open a tight game late for a 13-3 victory. Totten's long ball came in the 2nd inning of the opener after Kevin Brown reached base with a one-out single. Rio scratched out a run in the 6th inning and got a leadoff double in the 7th before Houchin closed the door with a complete-game performance. He struck out two and walked two. Totten was 2-for-2, Brown had two hits, and Paul Wilson doubled to account for CU's five hits. March 11, at Berea
Alex Pummell and Paul Wilson delivered four hits apiece to lead the Yellow Jackets to an 11-4 victory at Berea to gain a split of their non-conference doubleheader. The Mountaineers took the opener, 9-2. Pummell and Wilson were two of four Cedarville players with a multi-hit game to lead the 17-hit attack in the second contest. Matt Houchin was 3-for-4 with a double, Micah Wilson was 2-for-2, and Tim Hubler added a double. The Jackets' big innings came in the 3rd and the 6th in which they scored four runs each. Derek Koogler pitched a complete game to get the win. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE] Berea plated four runs in the 1st inning of game one and never looked back. CU's two runs came in the 6th inning when Brady Workman doubled, he scored on Matt Houchin's RBI single, and Houchin later came across on an error. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE]

March 10, Kenyon (Eastern Mennonite Classic)
Cedarville closed out its stay at the Eastern Mennonite Classic with a 17-7 setback to Kenyon. The Lords, 9-1 overall, broke a 7-7 tie with a run in the 7th inning and nine more in the 8th to win by the 10-run mercy rule. Richie Reeder had three hits in three at bats as the Jackets totaled 14 hits as a team. Brady Workman, Matt Totten, and Jordan Shumaker produced two hits each for Cedarville. Reeder, Andrew Noble, and Tim Hubler earned spots on the all-tournament team. [BOXSCORE]

March 9, Trinity International (Eastern Mennonite Classic)
Trinity International broke a tie game with three late runs for an 8-5 victory over Cedarville. The Trojans got a three-run homer in the bottom of the 6th inning to pull out the win. Brady Workman was 2-for-3 with a double and a home run. Richie Reeder tallied two hits including a double and Tim Hubler contributed a pair of hits. [BOXSCORE]

March 9, Northwestern IA (Eastern Mennonite Classic)
The Yellow Jackets belted five home runs to outslug Northwestern IA, 14-13, in the first of two games at the Eastern Mennonite Classic. Brady Workman, Andrew Noble, Richie Reeder, Alex Pummell, and Matt Totten all hit the long ball for CU. Pummell was 3-for-5 with three RBI's to lead the team's 16-hit attack while Tim Hubler was 3-for-4 with a double. Workman, Noble, Reeder, and Derek Koogler added two hits apiece. Matt Bonin notched his first victory of the season despite the Red Raiders rallying from a 14-4 deficit. Jared Griest was credited with the save. [BOXSCORE]

March 8, Kenyon (Eastern Mennonite Classic)
Kenyon scored in every inning as the Lords blasted Cedarville, 23-5, at the Eastern Mennonite Classic. All five Yellow Jacket runs came on the long ball. Richie Reeder drilled a three-run homer in the 1st inning and Andrew Noble added a two-run shot in the 7th. Kenyon exploded for 24 total hits while CU had eight. [BOXSCORE]

March 7, Northwestern IA (Eastern Mennonite Classic)
Northwestern handed the Yellow Jackets an 8-2 setback in the second meeting of the Eastern Mennonite Classic between the two teams. Cedarville totaled six hits with Andrew Noble going 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI single. Brady Workman and Matt Houchin scored the runs. [BOXSCORE]

March 6, Northwestern IA (Eastern Mennonite Classic)
Andrew Noble was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th inning to give Cedarville a 4-3 victory over Northwestern IA at the Eastern Mennonite Classic. Noble had two hits in two at bats while Paul Wilson was 2-for-4 at the plate. Pete Kraus provided an RBI triple for the Jackets, who managed six hits for the game. Jared Griest came on in relief of starting pitcher Tyler Owens to get his second win of the young season. CU limited the Red Raiders to just five hits. [BOXSCORE]

March 6, Trinity International (Eastern Mennonite Classic)
Trinity International avenged an 8-1 loss to the Yellow Jackets on the previous day with an identical 8-1 decision. The Trojans, who recorded nine hits total, broke open a tight contest with five unearned runs in their final at bat. Matt Totten had two of CU's four hits in two official at bats and the Jackets came up with four stolen bases. [BOXSCORE]

March 4, Trinity International (Eastern Mennonite Classic)
Cedarville erupted for seven runs in the 9th inning to knock off Trinity International, 8-1, at the Eastern Mennonite Classic. The two teams battled to a 1-1 tie until the Yellow Jackets exploded in the second extra frame. Paul Wilson broke the game open with a two-run single. Matt Houchin was 3-for-4 with a double, Andrew Noble was 2-for-4 with a double, Matt Totten recorded two hits, and Richie Reeder added a double. Starting pitcher Matt Bonin allowed one unearned run in six innings and reliever Jared Griest was credited with the victory following two scoreless innings. [BOXSCORE]

March 4, Eastern Mennonite (Eastern Mennonite Classic)
The Yellow Jackets began spring break in Florida at the Eastern Mennonite Classic with a 5-3 victory over the host Royals. Winning pitcher Matt Houchin took a 5-0 lead into the 9th inning before Kiel Boynton was brought in with two outs to secure the save. The Jackets broke a scoreless tie with a pair of bases loaded walks in the 6th inning. They added three more in the 7th on a sacrifice fly, a squeeze bunt, and an RBI double from Paul Wilson. Richie Reeder and Brady Workman had two hits each. [BOXSCORE]

Feb. 28, at Cumberlands KY
Cumberlands produced an unearned run with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 11th inning to pull out an 8-7 victory over Cedarville in the season opener for the Yellow Jackets. The Patriots, 4-1 with their fourth victory in a row, rallied from deficits of 5-1 and 6-3 to send the game to extra innings. They loaded the bases in the 11th with a single and two hit batters before ending the contest on a bobbled ground ball. Kevin Brown was 3-for-6 at the plate to lead the CU offense. Richie Reeder and Pete Kraus had a pair of hits and two runs batted in apiece. Matt Houchin recorded two hits including a double while Alex Pummell and Brady Workman added two hits each. Cedarville totaled 17 hits for the game but stranded 16 runners on base. [BOXSCORE]
