Clark joins elite list of sportsmanship honorees

CEDARVILLE, Ohio (6-10-2006) - Teresa Clark, the 2006 recipient of the NAIA Coach of Character Award, was recognized at the National Sportsmanship Awards dinner in St. Louis on June 10. [MORE - NAIA RELEASE]

Hartman signs three new Lady Jackets

CEDARVILLE, Ohio (6-2-2006) - Head volleyball coach Melissa Hartman has announced the signing of three players to attend Cedarville University and play volleyball for the Lady Jackets. The trio of Justine Christiaanse, Amy Garner, and Liz Sweeney joins Emily Berger (see release below), who signed with CU last October.

Melissa Hartman named new head volleyball coach

CEDARVILLE, Ohio (2-20-2006) - Cedarville University athletic director Pete Reese has announced that Melissa Hartman is the new head volleyball coach of the Lady Jackets.

Hartman becomes just the fifth head coach in the 43-year history of the program. She takes over for Teresa Clark, who resigned from coaching after winning a school-record 322 matches during her 10-year stay at the helm. Clark will remain at the school in her role as an assistant professor in the Department of Exercise and Sport Science. [MORE]

Jones, Bradley are NAIA All-Americans

CEDARVILLE, Ohio (12-6-2005) - Cedarville University senior Kelsey Jones and junior Julia Bradley have been selected NAIA All-Americans in volleyball for the 2005 season. They become just the third and fourth CU players, respectively, to earn NAIA All-America honors in the sport after leading the Lady Jackets to a 45-6 record and a second straight national tournament appearance.

Jones, a 5-foot-8 setter who holds most all of the school's assist records, was named to the NAIA All-America Second Team. She set a new mark of 13.91 assists per game this fall, finished her career with 6,662 assists, and last season set the NAIA national single-season record with 2,403 assists. Jones was named the American Mideast Conference South Division and NAIA Region IX Player of the Year.

Bradley, a six-foot middle hitter, earned a spot on the NAIA All-America Third Team. She averaged a team-high 4.99 kills per game and matched her school record of a .431 attack percentage. Bradley set new school single-season marks for most kills (869), block assists (137), and total blocks (201).

Jones and Bradley join Sarah Zeltman, a 6-1 sophomore middle hitter, who made the NAIA All-America Third Team as a freshman in 2004. Cedarville first All-American was Heather van der Aa, who was a Third Team choice in 2001. [NAIA ALL-AMERICA VOLLEYBALL TEAM]

CEDARVILLE, Ohio (11-18-2005) - Senior setter Kelsey Jones has been selected the NAIA Region IX Player of the Year in voting by the region coaches. Lady Jacket head coach Teresa Clark was tabbed Region IX Coach of the Year for the second consecutive time by her peers. Junior middle hitter Julia Bradley and sophomore middle hitter Sarah Zeltman, the 2004 Player of the Year, joined Jones on the 12-member all-region squad. [ALL-NAIA REGION IX VOLLEYBALL TEAM]

Jones AMC Player of the Year; Clark voted top coach

CEDARVILLE, Ohio (11-11-2005) - Cedarville University setter Kelsey Jones has been named the 2005 Player of the Year in the American Mideast Conference South Division. The 5-foot-8 senior was chosen in a vote by the league's coaches which also selected Teresa Clark as AMC South Coach of the Year.

Jones has led the NAIA No. 18 Lady Jackets to a 41-2 overall record and their second straight 16-0 mark in the AMC South Division. She leads the AMC in assists by averaging 13.95 per game and set an NAIA national record last fall with 2,403 assists.

Jones was joined on the six-member All-AMC South Division First Team by junior middle hitter Julia Bradley and sophomore middle hitter Sarah Zeltman. Senior defensive specialist Lauren Mable was honorable mention. Outside hitter Cari Greetham and libero Libby Short secured two spots on the All-AMC South Division Freshmen Team. ST. PAUL, Minn. (11-5-2005) - The top-seeded Lady Jackets, led by Tournament MVP Kelsey Jones, swept No. 2 Bethel (Ind.) in three games to win their first-ever NCCAA national title. Teresa Clark was tabbed NCCAA National Coach of the Year after Cedarville defeated the Pilots 30-26, 30-23, 30-25 to improve to a phenomenal 40-2 on the season.

Jones handed out 52 assists to set the pace in the championship match against Bethel, 35-6. Julia Bradley put down 17 kills and became just the second player in CU volleyball history to surpass 2,000 for her career. Sarah Zeltman buried 14 kills and Cari Greetham tallied 11. Libby Short and Maija Hampton came up with 17 digs apiece. It was the first time the Jackets had ever advanced to the title match in nine trips to the national tournament. [STATS]

Cedarville eliminated defending champion and No. 3 seed Palm Beach Atlantic in the semifinals 30-27, 30-26, 30-27. Bradley and Erica Paugh hammered 14 kills each and Zeltman had 10. Bradley also tallied four blocks. Jones registered 43 assists and 17 digs, Kari Flunker had a team-high 19 digs while Lauren Mable produced 18. [STATS]

Bradley joined Jones on the national all-tournament team. Bradley, Jones, and Zeltman all earned spots on the NCCAA All-America First Team and Mable was chosen to the Second Team. Flunker was recognized as an NCCAA All-America Scholar-Athlete. [NCCAA National Tournament Information]

Tournament teams put first things first

Volleyball team members from Cedarville University, Grace College, Indiana Wesleyan University, and Spring Arbor University got together for a praise and worship service prior to competing in the NCCAA Midwest Regional at Cedarville on Oct. 21-22.

Berger signs with Lady Jackets

CEDARVILLE, Ohio (10-20-2005) - Greenville (Ohio) High School senior Emily Berger has signed a letter of intent to attend Cedarville University and play volleyball for the Lady Jackets. The 5-foot-10 outside hitter has been a four-year starter for the Green Wave and a three-time team captain.

Berger, who is Greenville's all-time kills leader, has led her squad to a 20-win season and an 11-1 mark in the Mid-Miami League. She was named to the All-Darke County First Team as a junior and was the District 9 Co-Player of the Year.

CU preps for season with missions trip

CEDARVILLE, Ohio (8-5-2005) - The Lady Jacket volleyball team is expected to have a championship caliber team this fall following a record-setting 44-10 campaign last year.
