Cernetic signs on with CU

CEDARVILLE, Ohio (7-6-2006) - Cedarville High School graduate Faith Cernetic has signed a letter of intent to attend Cedarville University. She will compete in the throwing events for CU following a successful prep career with the Indians.
Cernetic was a two-time district champion in the discus and a four-time region qualifier. Her career best in the event was a heave of 119-feet 9-inches. She is a former Ohio Heritage Conference champion and All-OHC performer. Her personal best in the shot put is 34-7.75 and she was a regional qualifier once.
Cernetic follows the footsteps of her sister, Michaela Bolton, who was a thrower for the Lady Jackets from 2000 through 2004.
Cedarville inks Leaman, Sipe
CEDARVILLE, Ohio (6-21-2006) - Track & field head coach Jeff Bolender announces that Tara Leaman and Jessi Sipe have signed letters of intent to attend Cedarville University and participate in the Lady Jacket track & field program.
Leaman, a versatile athlete from Tacoma (Wash.) Baptist High School placed in four events in the state meet as a senior. She was 2nd in the discus, 4th in the hurdles, 4th in the javelin, and 4th in the 4 x 100 meter relay. Tara is the daughter of Tim and Darcy Leaman of Puyallup, Wash.
Sipe earned All-Allen County Athletic Conference recognition in the shot put while throwing for Adams Central High School in Indiana. She is the daughter of John and Jill Sipe of Monroe, Ind.

Maat, Peacock earn NAIA academic recognition
OLATHE, Kansas (5-31-2006) - Samantha Maat and Emily Peacock have been named NAIA All-America Scholar-Athletes for the 2006 campaign. The program honors juniors and seniors who maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average.
Maat is a junior biology major from Walker, Mich. She earned NAIA All-America honors in both the 5,000 and 10,000 meters this spring. It was the third year in a row for Maat to be so recognized in the 10K. Peacock is a junior psychology and criminal justice double major from Falling Waters, W.Va. She qualified for the NAIA Nationals in the hammer throw and won the NCCAA title in the event. [NAIA ALL-AMERICA SCHOLAR-ATHLETES]

Maat, Pyles gain NAIA All-America honors
FRESNO, Calif. (5-27-2006) - Samantha Maat earned All-America honors in two events and Elisabeth Pyles placed 2nd in the steeplechase to highlight the Lady Jackets' showing at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championship. Cedarville totaled 19 points to finish tied for 12th place out of 92 schools at the meet hosted by Fresno Pacific University.
Maat became an NAIA All-American in the 10,000 meter run for the third straight year with a school-record performance of 36:14.24 to place 3rd. She later finished 4th in the 5K in 17:33.80. The top six finishers in each event are All-Americans.

Pyles completed an outstanding freshman season with her runner-up performance in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Her time of 11:06.98 gave CU its third All-American in the event in the last four years.
Elsewhere, Courtney Reid failed to advance out of the 100 meter hurdles prelims despite setting a school record of 14.79 seconds to place 5th in her heat. Keri Hilty advanced to the 800 meter semifinals after placing 5th in her heat in 2:15.12, but then did not get to the finals after a 2:23.95 clocking in the semis. Emily Peacock was 17th in the hammer throw with a toss of 130-feet even. The 4 x 400 meter relay squad of Reid, Marla Rice, Elise O'Neal, and Bethany Davies posted a time of 3:59.11 which was 6th in their heat of the prelims. [COMPLETE RESULTS]
Reid qualifies for NAIA hurdles
MARION, Ind. (5-11-2006) - Courtney Reid won two events which included an NAIA automatic qualifying mark in the 100 meter hurdles at the Indiana Wesleyan Qualifier. Her time in the hurdles was 14.84 seconds to go along with a 1st-place effort of 1:03.20 in the 400 meter dash.
Emily Peacock was a winner in both the discus (130-feet 5-inches) and hammer (143-0). Samantha Maat won the 800 meters in 2:27.0 and the 4 x 800 meter relay quartet of Jenna Hakala, Maria Harley, Elise O'Neal, and Bethany Davies was 2nd in 9:48.19.
Reid leads Jackets' NCCAA All-Americans
UPLAND, Ind. (5-6-2006) - Courtney Reid won the NCCAA 100 meter hurdles and scored 19.25 total points to lead the Lady Jackets to a 3rd-place finish at Taylor University. Malone won the 13-team meet with 169.50 points and was followed by Greenville (148.50) and Cedarville (109).
Reid's winning time in the 100 meter hurdles was 15.21 seconds. She was 3rd in the 200 meters in 26.33 and joined Keri Hilty, Marla Rice, and Elise O'Neal to place 2nd in the 4 x 400 meter relay in 3:55.53 which set a school record and met the NAIA automatic qualifying mark.
CU had five other NCCAA All-Americans (top 3 finishers), four of which were individual champions. Samantha Maat set a school record and met the NAIA qualifying standard after winning the 10,000 meters for the second straight year in 36:16.77. Elisabeth Pyles advanced to the NAIA Nationals in the 3,000 meter steeplechase with a winning time of 11:04.93.
Hilty won the 800 meters in 2:14.20 and was 3rd in the high jump at 5-feet 0.50-inches. Emily Peacock won the hammer throw with a toss of 150-10 and Brittany Simpson was 3rd in the 5,000 meters in 18:13.38. [COMPLETE RESULTS and PHOTO GALLERY]

Hilty, Maat are NAIA All-Americans
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (3-11-2006) - Cedarville had two athletes earn NAIA Indoor All-America honors with Keri Hilty placing 4th in the 600 meters and Samantha Maat finishing 6th in the 5,000 meters. The top six finishers in each event are All-Americans.
Hilty posted a time of 1:35.94 in the 600 meters after winning her heat a day earlier with a school-record time 1:34.51. Maat's time in the 5,000 meters was 17:42.92 following a preliminary time of 18:02.04 to finish 4th in her heat. Sarah Ensslen placed 8th in the triple jump with a leap of 37-feet 9.50-inches and she was 20th in the long jump at 17-feet even. Kelly Steingass placed 10th in the 3,000 meter racewalk (16:42.05), Christina Reyes was 12th in the mile (5:16.26), and Emily Peacock was 13th in the weight throw (49-4.50).
Others who failed to advance in their respective event were Elisabeth Pyles (18:36.26) and Brittany Simpson (19:03.03) in the 5K; Nicole Santos in the 3K (10:46.13), and Courtney Reid in the 60 meter hurdles (12.10). The 4 x 400 meter relay squad of Reid, Hilty, Elise O'Neal, and Marla Rice did not advance but still set a school-record time of 3:59.14. [COMPLETE RESULTS and PHOTO GALLERY]

Lady Jackets take NCCAA; Maat named top performer
UPLAND, Ind. (2-18-2006) - Samantha Maat was named the Outstanding Performer of the Meet and the Lady Jackets won the NCCAA Indoor Track & Field Championship at Taylor University. She won the 3,000 meters in a school-record time of 10:14.10 and then followed up with a victory in the 5K at 17:30.06. Cedarville rolled up 137 points while runner-up Roberts Wesleyan finished with 122.5.
Courtney Reid and Sarah Ensslen both enjoyed four All-America performances (top 3 finishers). Reid won the 55 meter hurdles and automatically qualified for the NAIA with an effort of 8.53 seconds to go along with a 2nd-place finish in the 200 meter dash in a school-record time of 26.40. Ensslen won her third straight triple jump title at 38-feet 7-inches and took 1st place in the long jump at 17-10.25. The twosome joined Bethany Davies and Marla Rice to place 2nd in the 4 x 200 meter relay in 1:48.89 and then finished their day by teaming with Keri Hilty and Elise O'Neal in the 4 x 400 where they were the runner-up in a school-record time of 4:02.52.
Emily Peacock won the weight throw with a heave of 47-11 and she set a school record in the shot put at 38-4 which placed 6th. O'Neal finished 3rd in the 400 meters (1:01.90) while Hilty was 2nd in the 800 meters setting a new school record in 2:17.12 plus she was 3rd in the high jump (5-1). The last group of All-Americans came in the distance medley relay where Davies, Jenna Hakala, Stephanie Graff, and Audree Goodew were clocked in 12:55.42 to finish 3rd.
