Samantha Maat returns for her third season with the Lady Jacket track program as one of the most honored distance runners ever at Cedarville University.....scored 110 individual points last spring.....qualified for the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field Championship in the 10,000 meters for the second consecutive season.....finished 4th in the event with a 36:50.24 effort to gain NAIA All-America honors.....captured the 5,000 meter title for the second straight year at the American Mideast Conference Championship with a 19:14.45 effort.....won the 10,000 meters at the NCCAA Outdoor Championships (36:43.52) and the Emory University Classic (37:22.26).....named an NCCAA All-American in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters.....earned AMC Team honors for the 5,000 meters and the 4 x 800 relay.....competed for the second season with the CU women's cross country team.....ran in all eight meets this fall.....best outing was 17:59 at the American Mideast Conference Championship which placed 2nd of 155 runners.....earned a spot on the All-AMC First Team.....garnered NCCAA All-American honor for a 3rd-place finish with an 18:04 peformance in the 5,000 meters.....placed 37th of 258 competitors at the NAIA National Championships with a 18:28 performance.....named an NAIA and NCCAA All-America Scholar-Athlete.....presented the Bullock Award as the NCCAA's Outstanding Runner recognizing accomplishments in athletics, academics, leadership, Christian character and Christian service.

2004-05 - One of five captains on the squad.....captured the AMC title in the 5,000 meters with a 18:00.97 effort.....named NAIA and NCCAA Outdoor All-American (10,000 meters), NAIA and NCCAA Indoor All-American (5,000 meters).....member of the All-AMC Team in the 5,000 meters.....won the 1,500 meter run at the Muskingum Invitational and the Yellow Jacket Open.....garnered the 10,000 meter title at the Indiana Wesleyan Invitational with a time of 41:06.67.....ran her first season of cross country for the Lady Jackets.....named NAIA and NCCAA All-American.....finished 18th at the NAIA Championships with an effort of 18:25 for the 5,000 meter course.....placed 6th at the NCCAA and AMC Championships.....won the Louisville Classic (357 runners) with a time of 18:10.

2003 - Put together a tremendous freshman year on the track.....NAIA Outdoor All-American in the 10,000 meters by placing 6th in 38:20.37.....NCCAA All-American in the event with a season-best time of 37:40.65 to finish 2nd.....Indoor All-American in the 5K at both the NAIA Nationals (3rd; 17:55.73) and NCCAA Nationals (3rd; 18:04.78).....AMC 5,000 meter champion in 18:00.97

High School - Assembled a succesful running career at Kenowa Hills High School.....four-year letter winner in track.....finished 8th at the state meet in the 3,200 meter run.....her 4 x 800 meter relay team also finished 8th at the state meet.....qualified for the state meet in the 1,600 meters.....3,200 meter regional champion and 1,600 meter regional runner-up.....member of the 3,200 meter regional runner-up relay squad.....earned OK Gold All-Conference honors in 2002 and 2003.....holds school record in the 3,200 meter run (11:36.5) and also part of 3,200 meter relay team that holds school record (9:40).....conference champion in the 1,600 and 3,200 meters.....also earned two letters in cross country and basketball.....National Honor Society vice-president.....class salutatorian.

Personal - Dean's List student as a biology pre-physical therapy major at Cedarville University.....born 11/13/84 in Grand Rapids, MI.....daughter of Ray and Sheryl Maat.....younger brother, Christian, competes on the men's track & field team this season.....has two other younger brothers.
