April 28, SHAWNEE STATE
A long baseball season came to a close when Shawnee State escaped Yellow Jacket Field with a pair of one-run American Mideast Conference South Division victories. The Bears won by scores of 5-4 and 6-5. In the opener, Pete Kraus singled home Jordan Shumaker with the game's first run in the bottom of the 1st inning. Shawnee State rebounded for a 4-1 lead, but Paul Wilson ripped a two-run triple in the 5th and scored the tying run when the relay throw went into the dugout. The Bears retook the lead in the 6th and watched as CU left the tying run on second base in both the 6th and 7th innings. Wilson was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple while Shumaker scored twice. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] The Jackets were close, but could never grab the lead in the second game. CU recovered from a 3-0 deficit to knot the score and Shawnee, 21-15 and 9-9 AMC, took the lead for good with three unearned runs in the 5th inning. Cedarville, who ends the season at 4-36 and 0-24 AMC, again left the tying run at second base in their final at bat. Wilson was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI's. April 27, at Shawnee State
Shawnee State pulled out a close first game before blanking Cedarville in the nightcap of an American Mideast Conference South Division twinbill. The Bears won by scores of 5-4 and 4-0. The Yellow Jackets came up with three runs in the top of the 7th inning to tie the opener at 4-4. Matt Totten and Tim Hubler produced back-to-back RBI doubles prior to Hubler coming across with the equalizer on a passed ball. The Bears responded in the bottom half of the inning with three singles wrapped around a sacrifice bunt to win it. Hubler had two hits to lead the CU offense and Totten scored twice. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] Cedarville, 4-34 overall and 0-22 AMC, was checked on two hits in the second game with singles coming off the bats of Totten and Brandon Young. Shawnee State, 19-15 and 7-9 AMC, scored all four of its runs in the 4th inning. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]

April 24, at Wright State
NCAA Division I Wright State scored in each of the first six innings and cruised to an 11-3 victory over the Yellow Jackets under the lights at Nischwitz Stadium. The Raiders, 23-14, registered 14 hits in the contest and eased out to a 6-0 lead through five innings. After Cedarville plated a run in the sixth, WSU put up four more in their half of the frame. Brady Workman tallied two of CU's six hits. Richie Reeder had a double and an RBI while Paul Wilson drove in another run for the Jackets, 4-32. [BOXSCORE]

April 23, at Urbana
Urbana scored four times in the bottom of the 6th inning to pull out a 4-3 victory and complete a doubleheader sweep over Cedarville in AMC South Division action. The Blue Knights pounded out a 16-6 win in the opener. The Yellow Jackets appeared headed toward their first AMC win of the season by taking a 3-0 lead in game two. They scored twice in the 2nd inning on an RBI groundout from Matt Owens and a successful squeeze by Tim Hubler. The visitors added an unearned run in the 4th. Losing pitcher Jordan Shumaker locked down Urbana on one hit until the 6th inning when they scored four times on three hits. The game winner was unearned. Hubler, Brandon Young, and Richie Reeder had two hits each. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE] The Blue Knights, 26-19 overall and 6-12 AMC, exploded for eight runs in their first at bat in the opener. Cedarville, 4-31 and 0-20 AMC, crawled back to within 9-6, but Urbana scored seven unanswered runs to end it in the 5th inning via the 10-run mercy rule. With the wind blowing out, the two teams combined for six home runs. Young was 2-for-3 with a homer, two runs scored, and two RBI's. April 21, TIFFIN
Tiffin wrapped up a four-game American Mideast Conference South Division series sweep with two wins at Yellow Jacket Field. The Dragons won the opener, 9-5, and then took the nightcap, 13-2, in a contest called after six innings due to the 10-run mercy rule. A five-run 2nd inning sparked Tiffin in the opener. Pete Kraus ripped a pair of doubles to lead Cedarville. Matt Totten had two hits including a double and two runs batted in. Brandon Young added a pair of hits and two RBI's while Tim Hubler had two hits. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] The Dragons, 17-26 overall and 8-8 AMC, never trailed in the second contest thanks to a pair of four-run innings. Eight different players singled for the Yellow Jackets, 4-29 and 0-18 AMC. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]

April 19, at Tiffin
Tiffin kept Cedarville winless in the American Mideast Conference South Division with a doubleheader sweep. The Dragons posted victories of 3-2 and 6-1. Seven different Yellow Jackets had hits in the opener with Brady Workman coming up with a double. Paul Wilson and Brandon Young tallied RBI's. The host Dragons broke a 2-2 tie with the go ahead run in the 5th inning. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] Cedarville, 4-27 overall and 0-16 AMC, were held to a pair of singles in the nightcap. Tiffin improved to 15-24 and 6-6 AMC. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]

April 17, MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE
American Mideast Conference South Division power Mount Vernon Nazarene used a pair of big innings to manhandle the Yellow Jackets in a doubleheader. The Cougars, 24-10 overall and 12-4 AMC, cruised to 11-0 and 15-0 victories in games that were both halted after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule. MVNU ended a scoreless dual in the opener by scoring nine times in the 3rd inning. The visitors finished the contest with 11 hits, five of which went for extra bases, while the Jackets were held without a hit. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] Cedarville, 4-25 and 0-14 AMC, posted only a single by Brady Workman in the second game, yet it remained close for four innings. The Cougars led 1-0 before exploding for 14 runs in the 5th inning to end it. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]

April 16, INDIANA WESLEYAN (at Fifth Third Field)
The Yellow Jackets jumped out to an early lead before Indiana Wesleyan bounced back for an 11-5 win in the Second Annual Cedarville Baseball Classic at Fifth Third Field. A crowd of 695 turned out to watch the non-conference encounter at the home of the Class A Dayton Dragons. The Jackets scored twice in the 1st inning when Matt Totten doubled down the right field line, Paul Wilson walked, and Richie Reeder delivered a two-out RBI single to plate Totten. Brady Workman singled through the left side to score Wilson for a 2-0 lead. CU made it 3-0 in the 2nd inning when Tim Hubler opened with a triple and later scored on a suicide squeeze bunt by Phil Buben. Indiana Wesleyan, came up with 10 unanswered runs with three in the 3rd, three in the 5th, and four more in the 6th. The Wildcats, 12-17 overall, totaled 17 hits in the contest. Reeder was 3-for-4 for the Yellow Jackets, 4-23. Wilson doubled twice and scored two runs while Workman added a pair of hits. [BOXSCORE]

April 13, at Mount Vernon Nazarene
Mount Vernon Nazarene pinned a couple of American Mideast Conference South Division losses on Cedarville by scores of 12-0 and 4-2. The Yellow Jackets, 4-22 overall, remain winless in 12 league contests while the host Cougars improve to 22-10 and 10-4 AMC. MVNU scored six runs in each of their first two at bats of the opener which was halted after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule. Cedarville's only hit was a 2nd-inning single off the bat of freshman Brandon Young. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] The Jackets produced five hits in the second game, but four errors led to a pair of unearned runs for the Cougars. CU scored in the 1st inning when Jordan Shumaker walked and later came across on a throwing error. After MVNU tied the score, Young walked in the 2nd and came home on an RBI single from Matt Owens. The Cougars scored twice in the 3rd and added an insurance run in the 6th. The two teams combined to leave 20 runners on base. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]

April 10, at Earlham
The Yellow Jackets racked up a season-high 19 hits and pounded host Earlham, 16-7, in a non-conference game. Cedarville won its second consecutive contest by scoring ten more runs than any previous contest this year with the help of four players registering at least three hits. The Jackets, 4-20 overall, scored in all but two innings and they broke a 3-3 tie by crossing the plate seven times in the 3rd. Paul Wilson singled and Pete Kraus followed with his first home run of the season to give CU the lead for good. Richie Reeder added a solo homer to lead off the 6th inning. Jordan Shumaker sparked the offense by going 4-for-5 with a double, two stolen bases, two runs scored, and three RBI's. Kraus was 3-for-6 with three runs batted in; Micah Wilson was 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and three RBI's; and Brady Workman was 3-for-5 with three runs and a pair of RBI's. Wilson chipped in a couple hits and two RBI's while Joshua Chamberlin scored three times. Starting pitcher Colby Stoltzfus worked the first five innings and picked up his first career victory with four strikeouts and one walk. Earlham falls to 5-15. [BOXSCORE]

April 6, MYERS
Richie Reeder drew a bases loaded walk in the bottom of the 9th inning to give Cedarville a snowy 6-5 non-conference victory over Myers. The second 7-inning game of the twinbill plus Saturday's scheduled doubleheader were all cancelled due to the weather. With one out in the 9th, Brandon Young and Paul Wilson both walked and later moved up on a wild pitch. Pete Kraus was intentionally walked to load the bases. Reeder took two balls before the game was halted for 10 minutes with heavy snow. When play resumed, the senior third baseman took two more inside fast balls to force in the winning run and end the Yellow Jackets' 10-game losing streak. Matt Totten was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, and a run scored. Wilson was 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI, Young scored twice, and Kraus and Joshua Chamberlin provided doubles. Starting pitcher Andrew Lockridge went seven innings with seven strikeouts and a walk. Rob Wasem, 2-1, worked the final two innings to get the win in relief. Cold weather was expected for the weekend with a 35-degree temperature and a 28-degree wind chill in the air when the game started, but the snow came as a surprise. The three-hour contest was delayed twice with heavy squalls blowing in. [BOXSCORE]

April 2, OHIO DOMINICAN
NAIA No. 21 Ohio Dominican pounded out a total of 32 hits including 11 for extra bases during an American Mideast Conference South Division sweep of the Yellow Jackets. The Panthers, 22-4 overall and 8-0 AMC, registered 12-3 and 13-0 victories. ODU jumped out to a 6-0 lead after their first two at bats in the opener. Cedarville's only scoring of the day came with a three-run 2nd inning. Pete Kraus scored on a throwing error, Matt Totten singled in a run, and Phil Buben put down a suicide squeeze for another tally. Paul Wilson had two of the team's eight hits. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] The Jackets, 2-20 and 0-10 AMC, were held without a hit in the second contest which was called after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule. March 30, at Ohio Dominican
NAIA No. 21 Ohio Dominican rolled to 10-1 and 9-0 victories over the Yellow Jackets in AMC South Division action. Cedarville managed just seven hits total in the doubleheader. The host Panthers held a 1-0 lead in the opener and then broke it open with eight runs in the 5th inning. Only four of ODU's 10 runs in the contest were earned. Paul Wilson had two of the Jackets' six hits and he drove in Tim Hubler with the team's only tally in the 6th. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] Ohio Dominican, 20-4 overall and 6-0 AMC, held CU to two hits in the nightcap which were singles off the bats of Brady Workman and Wilson. Three Yellow Jacket errors led to five unearned runs. Cedarville drops to 2-18 and 0-8 AMC. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]

March 27, WILMINGTON
Wilmington scored four times in the 1st inning and never let go of the lead in an 8-5 non-conference win at Cedarville. The Yellow Jackets, 2-16 overall, have dropped six in a row. The Quakers, 10-3, got off to their quick start on the strength of three hits, a walk, and a hit batter. Wilmington totaled 14 hits - 13 of which were singles. Paul Wilson was 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, and an RBI for Cedarville. Pete Kraus tallied two hits and two RBI's, Jordan Shumaker was 2-for-5 with two RBI's and a run scored, and Matt Totten was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Both teams left 11 runners on base and the Jackets turned two double plays. [BOXSCORE]

March 26, RIO GRANDE
Rio Grande wrapped up a four-game AMC South Division series sweep with two more victories over the host Yellow Jackets. The Redmen won by scores of 9-4 and 7-3. Rio scored five unearned runs in the opener as a result of five Cedarville errors. A four-run 2nd inning got things started for the Redmen. Pete Kraus had two hits including a two-run double with a run scored for the Jackets. Paul Wilson added two hits. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] Rio Grande, 15-11-1 overall and 4-0 AMC, jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second contest. After CU cut the difference to 4-3 through five innings, two unearned runs in the 6th sparked the visitors to victory. Jordan Shumaker had two hits and Richie Reeder recorded a two-run double for the Jackets, 2-15 and 0-6 AMC. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]

March 24, at Rio Grande
Cedarville's young pitching staff held Rio Grande's offense in check, but the Redmen still came away with two American Mideast Conference South Division victories. Rio won by scores of 3-0 and 4-3 in 9 innings. Rookie righthander Andrew Lockridge held the Redmen scoreless through four innings and allowed just five hits total. The hosts got the only tally they needed in the 5th on an unearned run. Brandon Young, Paul Wilson, and Joshua Chamberlin had singles for CU. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] The Jackets bounced back from a 2-0 deficit to lead the second contest, 3-2, only to lose in extra innings. Rio plated the equalizer in the bottom of the 7th inning and scored the winner, unearned, on a wild pitch in the 9th. Brady Workman was 3-for-3 with a run scored and an RBI. Phil Buben had two hits including an RBI double. Wilson and Richie Reeder added two hits apiece to Cedarville's 12-hit attack. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]

March 20, CONCORDIA
The Yellow Jackets ended a six-game losing streak with a 6-3 victory over Concordia in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader. The visiting Cardinals claimed game two, 3-1, in a meeting originally scheduled to be played in Michigan but moved to Cedarville when the Cards' field was deemed unplayable. The Jackets needed four runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to rally from a 3-2 deficit in the opener. Pete Kraus' two-run double gave Cedarville the lead to stay. Insurance runs came on an RBI double by Brady Workman and a pinch hit single from Joshua Chamberlin. Paul Wilson had a pair of hits and scored twice; Richie Reeder tallied two hits and two RBI's; and Kraus, Workman, and Tim Hubler added two hits each. Rob Wasem was the winning pitcher in relief and Andrew Lockridge notched the save. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] The Yellow Jackets, 2-11 overall, managed only three hits in the second game. Kraus drove in Wilson with CU's only run in the 6th inning. Freshman outfielder Brandon Young recorded two singles. Concordia improved to 9-5. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]

March 14, URBANA
Cedarville received solid pitching, but the bats were relatively silent in a doubleheader loss to Urbana in the AMC South Division opener for both teams. The Blue Knights, 9-4 overall, posted 1-0 and 4-2 victories with the second contest going eight innings. Rookie righthander Andrew Lockridge tossed a complete game in the opener and surrendered just six hits. A leadoff Urbana home run in the 5th inning was the lone tally of the contest. Four separate players came up with singles for CU. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE] Brady Workman's two-run double in the 6th inning tied the second game. However, the Blue Knights got the go ahead runs in the 8th without the benefit of a hit by scoring on a bases loaded walk and a sacrifice fly. Brandon Young and Paul Wilson had two hits each for Cedarville, 1-10. Freshman Colby Stoltzfus was the starting pitcher and allowed two earned runs in six innings. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE]

March 9, Trinity International (at Clearwater Invitational)
The Yellow Jackets wrapped up play at the Clearwater Invitational with a 9-6 loss to Trinity International. The Jackets got on the board first with three runs in the top of the 2nd inning, but the Trojans answered with five runs in their half of the frame to take the lead for good. After Cedarville closed the gap to 5-4, TIU struck back with four runs in the 6th to put it out of reach. Pete Kraus led Cedarville's 11-hit attack with three hits and a run scored. Brandon Young had a pair of singles with two runs batted in, Richie Reeder tallied two hits including a double, and Paul Wilson singled twice. [BOXSCORE]

March 8, Northwestern IA (at Clearwater Invitational)
The Jackets managed just three hits in a 10-0 setback to Northwestern. Brady Workman had a double for the lone extra base hit while Jordan Shumaker and Brandon Young recorded singles. The contest was called after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule. [BOXSCORE]

March 8, Grace (at Clearwater Invitational)
Paul Wilson's three-run homer in the top of the 7th inning forced extra innings against Grace, but the Lancers plated in the game winner in the 8th inning for a 5-4 victory. He was 3-for-3 with two runs scored. Matt Totten and Brandon Young both singled and scored ahead of Wilson's homer. [BOXSCORE]

March 7, Northwestern IA (at Clearwater Invitational)
Northwestern (Iowa) used a 10-run inning to bury Cedarville, 14-3, at the Clearwater Invitational. The Yellow Jackets, 1-6, got on the board first with two runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Brandon Young singled and later scored on an error. Paul Wilson doubled and eventually crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly by Pete Kraus. The Red Raiders blew the game open with a big 3rd inning. CU's other tally came in the 4th when Richie Reeder tripled and scored on a groundout by Kraus. Northwestern completed the scoring with four runs in the 6th. [BOXSCORE]

March 6, Grace (at Clearwater Invitational)
Freshman pitcher Clint Price tossed a complete game and the Yellow Jackets defeated Grace, 6-4, at the Clearwater Invitational for their first victory of the season. The Jackets, 1-4 overall, trailed Grace 2-1 until scoring four times in the bottom of the 4th inning. Joshua Chamberlain stroked a two-run single in the frame and Tim Hubler singled in another. Brady Workman's solo homer in the 6th completed the scoring. Brandon Young was 2-for-3 at the plate and Micah Wilson was 2-for-2 with a double. [BOXSCORE]

March 6, Trinity International (at Clearwater Invitational)
Trinity International scored seven runs in their first three at bats to take control for an 8-4 victory at the Clearwater Invitational. Paul Wilson was 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI's. Pete Kraus was 2-for-3 with a double and a triple. [BOXSCORE]

March 5, Kenyon (at Clearwater Invitational)
Kenyon rallied from four runs down to complete a sweep of a non-conference doubleheader over Cedarville at the Clearwater Invitational. The Lords won by scores of 6-2 and 6-5. The Yellow Jackets, 0-3 overall, had leads of 4-0 and 5-3 in the nightcap. However, Kenyon, 2-0, recovered with two runs in the bottom of the 5th inning before scoring the winner in the 7th. Richie Reeder was 3-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and two runs batted in. Micah Wilson was 2-for-3 with an RBI while Paul Wilson was 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored. [GAME 2 BOXSCORE] Cedarville started the scoring in the opener with two runs in the bottom of the 1st inning. Matt Houchin had an RBI groundout and Reeder singled home the other run. Kenyon took the lead with three unearned runs in the 3rd. The Jackets had just three hits total with the others coming on singles from Matt Totten and Paul Wilson. [GAME 1 BOXSCORE]

Feb. 27, at Indiana Southeast
Indiana Southeast scored in every inning and dealt Cedarville an 11-3 setback in the 2007 baseball opener. The Grenadiers, 2-4 overall, stroked 14 hits and scored in every inning. The Yellow Jackets totaled six hits and got on the board in the top of the 1st inning when Matt Totten doubled and scored on Paul Wilson's RBI single. CU's other two runs came in the 6th as Matt Houchin doubled and scored when Richie Reeder reached base on an error. He later scored on a single by Pete Kraus. Brady Workman also tripled in the contest to round out the offense. [BOXSCORE]
