Nov. 30, Lee - (NAIA National Tournament - Pool Play)
The Lady Jackets played courageously without the services of all-time kills leader Julia Bradley, but dropped their final two matches at the NAIA National Tournament. The six-foot senior middle hitter injured her knee the previous day in the second game of the first match and was unable to continue. Lee pulled away for a 30-24, 24-30, 30-22, 30-27 victory over the Lady Jackets, 45-10 overall, in the final match of the campaign. Sara Zeltman pounded 16 kills with seven blocks while freshmen Emily Berger and Justine Christiaanse added 11 kills each. Rachel Thompson produced 38 assists and 14 digs, Maija Hampton tallied 16 digs and five blocks, and Libby Short chipped in 14 digs. Lee ends the year at 32-9. [STATS]
Nov. 30, California Baptist - (NAIA National Tournament - Pool Play)
Two-time defending national champion and No. 4 seed California Baptist swept Cedarville 30-21, 30-15, 30-16. Sarah Zeltman totaled six kills, Rachel Thompson had 16 assists, and Maija Hampton added 14 digs and four blocks. The Lancers improved to 30-7. [STATS]
Nov. 29, Albertson - (NAIA National Tournament - Pool Play)
No. 7 seed Albertson dropped the first game to Cedarville, but rebounded to take the next three in the first match of pool play at the NAIA National Tournament. The Coyotes, 34-2 overall, also defeated the Lady Jackets two months earlier at the Saint Francis (Ind.) Challenge. The Jackets had the momentum after winning the first game, 30-25, and they were playing even in the second until Julia Bradley, CU's all-time kills leader and an NAIA All-America Third Team performer, toppled to the court with a leg injury. She attempted to resume, but then had to leave for the remainder of the match. Alberston won the final three games 30-24, 30-16, 30-26. CU, 45-8 overall, rallied from an eight-point deficit to tie game four at 24-24 before the Coyotes closed it out. Sarah Zeltman tallied 12 kills and six blocks to lead the play at the net. Bradley had six kills in her brief appearance and Maija Hampton added seven kills and 20 digs. Rachel Thompson totaled 36 assists and 16 digs while Libby Short also came up with 16 digs. [STATS]
Nov. 18, at Walsh - (NAIA Region IX-X Tournament - Championship; North Canton, OH)
The NAIA No. 25 Lady Jackets finally solved No. 16 Walsh in the NAIA Region IX-X championship match to earn their third straight trip to the NAIA Nationals. Cedarville, 45-7 overall and losers of three matches to the Cavaliers this season, rolled to a 30-23, 30-26, 30-26 victory and heads to the 20-team NAIA National Championship on Nov. 29 through Dec. 2 in Columbia, Mo. Julia Bradley pounded 16 kills and turned away three blocks to lead CU's balanced play at the net. Region Player of the Year Sarah Zeltman added 10 kills and four blocks with nine kills each coming from Anne Lohrenz and Emily Berger. Rachel Thompson provided 49 assists and Libby Short was steady on the back row with 10 digs. The Jackets have won 18 of their last 20 matches - with both setbacks to Walsh - while ending the Cavs' 13-match winning streak and handing the hosts their only home loss this season. Nov. 18, Tiffin - (NAIA Region IX-X Tournament - Semifinals; North Canton, OH)
No. 3 seed Cedarville had to first get by No. 2 Tiffin in the NAIA Region IX-X semifinals and rallied for 28-30, 30-22, 30-22, 30-22 victory to take two-out-of-three matches from the Dragons this year. Julia Bradley exploded for 19 kills and nine blocks with Sarah Zeltman adding 17 kills and four service aces for the Lady Jackets, 44-7. Emily Berger tallied seven kills, Lohrenz totaled six kills and four aces, and Maija Hampton chipped in six kills with 14 digs. Rachel Thompson set up 47 assists with 15 digs while Libby Short came through with a team-high 21 digs. Tiffin finishes 35-10. [STATS]
Nov. 17, Maine-Machias - (NAIA Region IX-X Tournament - First Round; North Canton, OH)
NAIA No. 25 Cedarville had little problem eliminating Maine-Machias from the NAIA Region IX-X Tournament hosted by Walsh University. The Lady Jackets, 43-7, advanced to the semifinals with a 30-12, 30-5, 30-11 rout. Julia Bradley tallied six kills, five service aces, and three blocks. Rachel Thompson had five kills and 24 assists while Amy Garner added five kills. Libby Short served up five of Cedarville's 24 total aces. The Clippers end the season at 13-13. [STATS]
Nov. 11, Walsh - (AMC Tournament - Semifinals; Rochester, NY)
NAIA No. 17 Walsh eliminated the No. 22 Lady Jackets from the semifinals of the American Mideast Conference Tournament. Cedarville, 42-7, fell for the third time this season to the Cavaliers 30-24, 30-25, 27-30, 30-27. Sarah Zeltman was the lone player to reach double figures in kills with 15 to go along with six blocks. Julia Bradley totaled nine kills and eight blocks while Anne Lohrenz added nine kills and five blocks. Libby Short had 15 digs, Sarah Sheers contributed 14 digs and three service aces, Maija Hampton tallied 14 digs, and Rachel Thompson handed out 30 assists. Nov. 10, Geneva - (AMC Tournament; Rochester, NY)
The NAIA No. 22 Lady Jackets roughed up AMC North Division co-champion Geneva in the quarterfinals of the AMC Tournament to the tune of 30-19, 30-14, 30-13. Sarah Zeltman hammered 16 kills, Julia Bradley had nine, and Anne Lohrenz combined for five kills and seven service aces. Rachel Thompson totaled 34 assists with eight digs each coming from Libby Short and Melissa Parmerlee. [STATS]
Nov. 10, Houghton - (AMC Tournament; Rochester, NY)
NAIA No. 22 Cedarville rolled by Houghton 30-20, 30-14, 30-22 in the first round of the AMC Tournament. Sarah Zeltman downed 15 kills while Julia Bradley added eight. Rachel Thompson recorded 32 assists and Libby Short came up with seven digs. [STATS]
Nov. 7, TIFFIN
The NAIA No. 22 Lady Jackets recognized graduating seniors Julia Bradley and Anne Lohrenz before extending their winning streak in the Callan Athletic Center to 51 straight with a sweep of Tiffin. Cedarville, 40-6 overall and 12-4 in the American Mideast Conference South Division, avenged an earlier loss to the Dragons by scores of 30-17, 30-26, 30-21. Bradley, CU's all-time kills leader, and Lohrenz, also a member of the school's 1,000 Kill Club, were honored for their respective careers which have included 160 victories, two NCCAA national titles, a pair of NAIA Region IX and AMC championships, and two trips to the NAIA National Tournament. Bradley hammered a team-high 17 kills with Lohrenz chipping in six kills and a team-best four service aces. Sarah Zeltman added 12 kills and five blocks. Rachel Thompson dished out 42 assists and Maija Hampton came up with 19 digs. Tiffin, who had outlasted the Jackets in a five-game marathon on Oct. 14, drops to 31-8 and 13-3 AMC. [STATS]
Nov. 4, Palm Beach Atlantic - (NCCAA National Tournament - Championship)
Tournament MVP Sarah Zeltman and the Lady Jackets won the National Christian College Athletic Association championship for the second straight year at Northwestern College. Cedarville assembled a 6-0 record during a three-day run to become the first-back-back champions since Olivet Nazarene in 2001 and 2002. The Jackets, 39-6 and ranked No. 22 in the NAIA, swept Palm Beach Atlantic 30-25, 30-25, 30-26 in the final match. Julia Bradley led a balanced attack with 13 kills, Sarah Zeltman added 12 kills and five blocks, and Anne Lohrenz came through with 10 kills. Rachel Thompson handed out 42 assists, Libby Short produced 25 digs, and Maija Hampton had 18 digs. Bradley joined Zeltman on the NCCAA National All-Tournament Team. Both players were named to the All-America First Team, Melissa Hartman was selected NCCAA Coach of the Year, and Melissa Parmerlee was recognized as an NCCAA All-America Scholar-Athlete. Nov. 4, Mount Vernon Nazarene - (NCCAA National Tournament - Semifinals)
Cedarville had to knock off AMC South Division member Mount Vernon Nazarene 30-18, 22-30, 30-20, 30-18 for the third time this season in the NCCAA semifinals. Julia Bradley pounded 23 kills and turned away five blocks. Sarah Zeltman tallied 17 kills and six blocks while Anne Lohrenz added 10 kills. Maija Hampton racked up 20 digs and Rachel Thompson dished out 55 assists. [STATS]
Nov. 3, Bethel (Ind.) - (NCCAA National Tournament)
(from Northwestern College Sports Information) The defending champion Lady Jackets moved one step closer to repeating their title at the NCCAA Championship by closing out pool play with another win. The Lady Jackets, 37-6 overall, advanced to the semifinals where they will meet fellow AMC South Division member Mount Vernon Nazarene. The other semifinal features Palm Beach Atlantic and Hope International. Cedarville wrapped up pool play with a perfect 4-0 record as they slid by Bethel (Ind.) 30-25, 27-30, 30-28, 30-22 in a repeat of the 2005 national championship match. Three Lady Jackets reached double-figures for kills including Sarah Zeltman, who put down 15 and tallied seven blocks. Julia Bradley added 13 kills and Anne Lohrenz jumped in with 10 kills and nine digs. Rachel Thompson distributed 48 assists and aided defensively with 21 digs. [STATS]
Nov. 3, Oakland City - (NCCAA National Tournament)
(from Northwestern College Sports Information) No. 1 seed Cedarville defeated Oakland City 30-27, 30-22, 30-20 in pool play action at the NCCAA Nationals. The Jackets were led on offense by a trio of players highlighted by Sarah Zeltman, who had 15 kills. Following Zeltman's lead were Julia Bradley and Maija Hampton with 12 and 11 kills, respectively. Rachel Thompson recorded 44 assists while Libby Short had 14 digs. [STATS]
Nov. 2, Hope International - (NCCAA National Tournament)
Sarah Zeltman joined an elite group among the school's all-time kills leaders and the No. 1 seed Lady Jackets recovered to beat No. 5 seed Hope International 21-30, 30-17, 30-16, 30-12. . Cedarville, 35-6 overall and ranked No. 22 in the NAIA, was the only team in their five-team pool to get through the opening day unbeaten. Zeltman hammered 18 kills with six blocks and became just the third player in school history to surpass 2,000 career kills. The other two are teammate and all-time leader Julia Bradley, who added 11 kills in the match, and former NAIA All-American Heather van der Aa. Nov. 2, Faulkner - (NCCAA National Tournament)
The top-seeded and defending champion Lady Jackets opened pool play the NCCAA National Tournament by sweeping No. 9 seed Faulkner 30-14, 30-21, 30-19. Julia Bradley buried 15 kills while Sarah Zeltman tallied 10 kills with four blocks and five service aces. Rachel Thompson had 39 assists and Maija Hampton recorded 20 digs. [STATS]
Oct. 31, RIO GRANDE
It's 50 in a row and counting for the NAIA No. 24 Lady Jackets, who took care of AMC South Division foe Rio Grande 33-31, 30-25, 30-18 before departing for the NCCAA National Tournament. Top-seeded Cedarville, winners of 50 straight in the Callan Athletic Center, will look to defend its title at the 10-team event that begins on Thursday at Northwestern College in St. Paul, Minn. The Jackets' final home match of the season is Nov. 7 against Tiffin. First things first as CU, 33-6 overall and 11-4 AMC, defeated the Redwomen for the fourth time this season behind Sarah Zeltman's 16 kills and four blocks. She is just 16 kills shy of becoming the third player in school history to hit 2,000 in a career. Julia Bradley tallied 13 kills and three blocks. Rachel Thompson was good for 50 assists while Libby Short had 15 digs. Rio drops to 17-19 and 4-11 AMC. [STATS]
Oct. 28, at Walsh
NAIA No. 17 Walsh clinched a share of the AMC South Division crown with a victory over two-time defending champion and No. 24 Cedarville. The Cavaliers, 31-2 overall and 14-1 AMC, knocked off CU 30-16, 30-25, 27-30, 30-25 to eliminate the Jackets from the regular season title chase. Julia Bradley tallied 13 kills and six blocks for Cedarville, 32-6 and 10-4 AMC. Emily Berger buried 12 kills and Sarah Zeltman had 11. Oct. 27, at Malone
The NAIA No. 24 Lady Jackets knocked off Malone for the third time this season with a three-game sweep in an AMC South Division match. Cedarville defeated the host Pioneers 30-19, 30-23, 30-28 to improve to 32-5 overall and 10-3 AMC. Sarah Zeltman's 15 kills and four blocks set the pace at the net with Julia Bradley contributing 10 kills and five blocks. Freshman Emily Berger chipped in eight kills. Melissa Parmerlee came up with 14 digs while Rachel Thompson amassed 36 assists and 14 digs. Malone drops to 20-19 and 5-10 AMC. [STATS]
Oct. 24, MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE
Sarah Zeltman buried 18 kills with four blocks to lead NAIA No. 20 Cedarville to a three-game sweep over AMC South Division foe Mount Vernon Nazarene. The Lady Jackets, 31-5 overall and 9-3 AMC, extended their winning streak in the Callan Athletic Center to 49 straight with the 30-27, 30-22, 31-29 victory. Julia Bradley provided ample support at the net with 13 kills and the two middle hitters combined for a .424 attack percentage. Libby Short paced the back line with 15 digs while Maija Hampton and Sarah Sheers provided 12 each. Rachel Thompson totaled 45 assists and 12 digs, and Anne Lohrenz served up four aces. Oct. 21, at Indiana Wesleyan - (NCCAA Midwest Regional)
The NAIA No. 20 Lady Jackets began a trek toward defending their NCCAA national title by winning the Midwest Region banner for the second straight year. Top-seeded Cedarville finished off host and No. 2 seed Indiana Wesleyan 30-27, 30-25, 31-29 to finish 3-0 in the round-robin format. Julia Bradley had 17 kills and four blocks, Sarah Zeltman tallied 16 kills and three blocks, and rookie Emily Berger chipped in 10 kills. Libby Short led the defense with 17 digs while Rachel Thompson recorded 41 assists and 16 digs. IWU falls to 28-6. Oct. 21, Spring Arbor - (NCCAA Midwest Regional)
Top-seeded Cedarville rallied to stun No. 3 Spring Arbor in five games in the second match of the NCCAA Midwest Regional. The Cougars, 17-13, put the Jackets in a hole by winning the first two games 30-21 and 30-26, but CU rebounded by scores of 30-23, 30-19, 15-9. Julia Bradley hammered 21 kills with five blocks with Sarah Zeltman providing 20 kills and four blocks. Rachel Thompson handed out 58 assists, Libby Short came up with a team-high 31 digs, and Maija Hampton added 19 digs. [STATS]
Oct. 20, Grace - (NCCAA Midwest Regional)
NAIA No. 20 and defending NCCAA national champion Cedarville opened play in the Midwest Regional by defeating Grace for the third time this season. The top-seeded Lady Jackets, 28-5 overall, ended a three-match losing streak with a 30-16, 30-15, 24-30, 30-21 win over the Lancers in the four-team event hosted by Indiana Wesleyan. Sarah Zeltman led the attack with 21 kills while Julia Bradley supplied 14 kills and three blocks. Maija Hampton saw some action on the front row and responded with 10 kills and 13 digs. Rachel Thompson dealt out 54 assists, Libby Short had a team-high 19 digs, and Sarah Sheers chipped in 11. [STATS]
Oct. 17, at Urbana
Urbana sent the NAIA No. 12 Lady Jackets reeling to their third straight loss in an AMC South Division contest. The Blue Knights, 23-10 overall and 7-5 AMC, beat Cedarville 27-30, 31-29, 30-26, 30-26 for just their second victory in 54 meetings in the season series. Sarah Zeltman totaled 15 kills and nine blocks for the Jackets, who drop to 27-5 and 8-3 AMC. Julia Bradley added 10 kills and four blocks. Rachel Thompson recorded 46 assists and 18 digs, Libby Short came up with a team-high 20 digs, and Emily Berger chipped in 19. [STATS]
Oct. 14, Walsh (at Tiffin)
NAIA No. 23 Walsh, 24-2 and 8-1 AMC, took advantage of playing their first mach of the day in the AMC South Division tri-match by sweeping No. 12 Cedarville 30-27, 30-25, 30-26. Sarah Zeltman was the only player to reach double figures with 16 kills to go along with three blocks for the Jackets, 27-4 and 8-2 AMC. Emily Berger had eight kills and 10 digs with Rachel Thompson handing out 38 assists. Libby Short again led the back row with 15 digs and Maija Hampton added 10. [STATS]
Oct. 14, at Tiffin
The NAIA No. 12 Lady Jackets saw their 41-match AMC South Division winning streak come to a close with a loss at Tiffin 30-27, 24-30, 30-28, 27-30, 15-13. Cedarville, who had not lost a regular season conference match since a three-game setback at Walsh on Nov. 7, 2003, had beaten Tiffin five straight times. The Dragons, 23-6 overall and 8-1 AMC, were able to pull out the marathon encounter despite 28 kills from Julia Bradley plus 17 kills and nine blocks from Sarah Zeltman. Rachel Thompson totaled 64 assists and 12 digs. Libby Short came up with a team-high 25 digs while Maija Hampton had 20. [STATS]
Oct. 10, at Rio Grande
NAIA No. 12 Cedarville defeated AMC South Division foe Rio Grande for the third time this season in a three-game sweep on the Redwomen's home court. CU won by scores of 30-21, 30-15, 30-28. The two schools, who earlier played one another in tournaments at Madonna and Cumberland, will meet for the fourth and final time in the Callan Athletic Center on Oct. 31. Julia Bradley buried 15 kills and turned away six blocks for the Lady Jackets, 27-2 overall and 8-0 AMC. Sarah Zeltman pounded 14 kills with four blocks while Rachel Thompson handed out 45 assists to go along with 12 digs and three service aces. Other players to hit double figures in digs were Libby Short with a team-high 17 and Maija Hampton with 14. [STATS]
Oct. 7, OHIO DOMINICAN
Cedarville completed its two-match Homecoming sweep by taking care of Ohio Dominican 30-18, 30-22, 30-22 to improve to 26-2 overall and 7-0 AMC. Sarah Zeltman ripped 20 kills and provided six blocks as well. Julia Bradley also reached double figures with 11 kills. Rachel Thompson tallied 44 assists for the second time in a row to go along with 11 digs. Maija Hampton and Libby Short led the defense with 13 digs each. [STATS]
Oct. 7, SHAWNEE STATE
The NAIA No. 12 Lady Jackets coasted to a victory over AMC South Division foe Shawnee State in the Callan Athletic Center during Homecoming by scores of 30-13, 30-22, 30-14. After cruising in the first game against the Bears, Cedarville found themselves trailing 15-8 in the second game. The hosts turned the momentum around with a 14-point run and were never threatened again. Julia Bradley and Sarah Zeltman recorded 13 kills and five blocks apiece while Anne Lohrenz and Emily Berger pounded eight kills each. Rachel Thompson had 44 assists and three service aces with Maija Hampton adding 14 digs. [STATS]
Oct. 5, at Central State
NAIA No. 12 Cedarville defeated Greene County rival Central State for the second time this season in three games. The Lady Jackets, 24-2 overall, cruised by scores of 30-23, 30-22, 30-10. Amy Garner recorded a season-high 10 kills with three blocks and Libby Short moved to the net from her usual libero position to provide eight kills. Sarah Sheers handed out 17 assists and served up nine of the team's 14 service aces. [STATS]
Oct. 3, at Mount Vernon Nazarene
The NAIA No. 12 Lady Jackets defeated host Mount Vernon Nazarene for their 38th straight AMC South Division victory. Cedarville, 23-2 overall and 5-0 AMC, won by scores of 30-26, 30-20, 30-27. Sarah Zeltman, the reigning AMC Player of the Week, continued her dominant season with 19 kills while Julia Bradley produced 12 kills and two blocks. Emily Berger had seven kills and 11 digs, Anne Lohrenz had seven kills and three service aces, and Justine Christiaanse chipped in seven kills. Rachel Thompson totaled 46 assists, Libby Short had 16 digs, and Maija Hampton added 11 digs. [STATS]
Sept. 30, MALONE
NAIA No. 12 Cedarville remained unbeaten in the American Mideast Conference South Division by knocking off Malone in three games. The Lady Jackets, 22-2 overall and 4-0 AMC, won by scores of 30-18, 30-25, 30-24. Sarah Zeltman pounded 17 kills with four blocks to lead the play at the net. Julia Bradley added 14 kills, Rachel Thompson supplied 45 assists, and Libby Short tallied 13 digs. Julia Bradley and Sarah Zeltman buried 14 kills apiece and the NAIA No. 12 Lady Jackets cruised to an AMC South Division victory at Ohio Dominican. Cedarville rolled by scores of 30-14, 30-17, 30-15. Bradley, CU's all-time leader in kills and blocks, added a team-high six blocks to the cause and Anne Lohrenz provided nine kills. Maija Hampton paced the back row with 16 digs while Libby Short came up with 15. Rachel Thompson recorded 45 assists and three service aces. [STATS]
Sept. 26, URBANA
Sarah Zeltman pounded a season-high 28 kills and NAIA No. 11 Cedarville bounced back from an opening-game loss to beat Urbana in an AMC South Division match. The Lady Jackets, 20-2 overall and 2-0 AMC, won by scores of 24-30, 30-20, 30-20, 30-22 to run their winning streak in the Callan Athletic Center to 45 straight and their regular season conference string to 36 in a row. Zeltman added four blocks to her dominant play at the net. Julia Bradley registered 13 kills and five blocks. Rachel Thompson handed out 48 assists with 11 digs, Libby Short had a team-high 14 digs, and Liz Sweeney posted a season-high 13 digs. Urbana dropped to 17-6 overall and 3-2 AMC. [STATS]
Sept. 23, Hastings - (Saint Francis Challenge)
Julia Bradley became the school's all-time leader in kills and blocks, but the NAIA No. 11 Lady Jackets dropped their second straight contest in the consolation match of the Saint Francis Challenge. Cedarville, 19-2 overall, lost to No. 10 Hastings 30-28, 30-25, 26-30, 30-25. Bradley, an NAIA All-America Third Team performer last fall, passed former NAIA All-American Heather van der Aa in career kills and blocks. The six-foot senior had 11 kills and four blocks to run her career totals to 2,399 kills and 588 blocks. Sarah Zeltman, who was named to the 12-member all-tournament team, tallied 18 kills and five blocks while Anne Lohrenz added 13 kills. Rachel Thompson had 55 assists, Libby Short recorded 23 digs, and Melissa Parmerlee had 19 digs. [STATS]
Sept. 23, Albertson - (Saint Francis Challenge)
The NAIA No. 11 Jackets' 19-match run to start the season came to a halt in the semifinals during a 30-19, 30-17, 33-31 loss to No. 13 Albertson. Julia Bradley pounded 15 kills and Sarah Zeltman had 12 to pace the attack. Libby Short and Maija Hampton posted 13 digs each and Rachel Thompson supplied 41 assists. [STATS]
Sept. 22, Cornerstone - (Saint Francis Challenge)
The NAIA No. 11 Lady Jackets, 19-0, remained unbeaten after sweeping Cornerstone 30-25, 30-26, 30-21. Sarah Zeltman ripped 22 kills and Bradley added 20 to pace the play at the net. Rachel Thompson racked up 47 assists and Libby Short tallied 14 digs. [STATS]
Sept. 22, Berry - (Saint Francis Challenge)
NAIA No. 11 Cedarville outlasted Berry 30-27, 28-30, 26-30, 30-15, 15-11 to open play at the Saint Francis (Ind.) Challenge. Sarah Zeltman totaled 26 kills and five blocks to lead the attack while Julia Bradley came through with 18 kills and three blocks. Sept. 19, CENTRAL STATE
NAIA No. 12 Cedarville had little problem in sweeping a non-conference match from Greene County rival Central State in the Callan Athletic Center. The Lady Jackets, who improved to 17-0 overall, posted a convincing 30-13, 30-12, 30-9 victory over the Marauders, 0-11. Sarah Sheers played the role as primary setter and responded with 27 assists and a team-high six service aces. Julia Bradley was one of ten CU players to register a kill and led the balanced attack with seven kills. Libby Short was credited with 10 digs and Sarah Zeltman added five aces. Sept. 18, at Shawnee State
The NAIA No. 12 Lady Jackets opened AMC South Division play with a 3-1 victory at Shawnee State. Cedarville, who is the two-time defending AMC and NAIA Region IX champion, won by scores of 23-30, 30-13, 30-15, 30-22 to improve to 16-0 overall. Senior outside hitter Anne Lohrenz became the 15th player in CU volleyball history to reach 1,000 career kills. She contributed six kills and three service aces to the victory. Sarah Zeltman continue her dominant play at the net with 22 kills and six blocks. Julia Bradley had 11 kills and three blocks while freshman Emily Berger chipped in 11 kills. Rachel Thompson handed out 51 assists, Libby Short totaled 30 digs, and Maija Hampton added 14. The host Bears, who have never beaten the Jackets in 32 tries, fall to 4-4 overall and 0-2 AMC. [STATS]
Sept. 16, Rio Grande - (Cumberland Classic)
The Jackets knocked off Rio Grande in a non-conference tournament for the second straight weekend 30-20, 24-30, 30-27, 30-12 to finish the Cumberland Classic with a 4-0 record. Tournament MVP Sarah Zeltman ripped 18 kills with three blocks and three service aces. Julia Bradley came through with 12 kills and four blocks. Anne Lohrenz drilled eight kills and tallied six of CU's 15 total service aces. Rachel Thompson contributed 36 assists and three aces, Maija Hampton had a team-high 17 digs, and Libby Short added 14 digs. Bradley and Lohrenz joined Zeltman on the all-tournament team. [STATS]

CU swept Malone 30-10, 30-26, 30-26 at the Cumberland Classic. Sarah Zeltman pounded 13 kills, turned away four blocks, and served up five of the team's 10 aces. Emily Berger produced 12 kills while Julia Bradley added eight kills and a team-high six blocks. Rachel Thompson was good for 30 assists and Maija Hampton had 11 digs. [STATS]
Sept. 15, Pikeville - (Cumberland Classic)
The unbeaten and NAIA No. 12 Lady Jackets extended their winning streak to 13 straight by sweeping Pikeville 30-16, 30-20, 30-25. Anne Lohrenz paced the attack with 11 kills. Sarah Zeltman racked up 10 kills, five service aces, and four blocks with Julia Bradley adding nine kills. Rachel Thompson recorded 34 assists and Maija Hampton led the back row with 15 digs. [STATS]

Cedarville handled the host Bulldogs 30-12, 30-15, 30-21 in the opening match of the Cumberland Classic. Sarah Zeltman continued her torrid play with 11 kills and five blocks while Julia Bradley added nine kills. Rachel Thompson contributed 21 assists and 10 digs with Libby Short totaling nine digs. Sept. 9, Taylor - (Madonna Invitational)
Tournament MVP Sarah Zeltman buried 18 kills to lead CU past Taylor to finish 4-0 at the Madonna Invitational. The Lady Jackets, 11-0 overall, beat the Trojans for the second time in four days. Cedarville swept Taylor by scores of 30-24, 30-19, 30-25. Zeltman posted a .630 attack percentage in 27 attempts and served up five aces. Julia Bradley added 13 kills and Rachel Thompson dished out 42 assists. Libby Short again led the back row play with 15 digs. Bradley and Short joined Zeltman on the nine-member all-tournament team. Sept. 9, Rio Grande - (Madonna Invitational)
The Jackets opened the day with a 30-18, 30-19, 30-21 win versus fellow AMC South Division member Rio Grande. Julia Bradley totaled 18 kills and eight blocks while freshman Justine Christiaanse supplied 13 kills. Rachel Thompson tallied 20 assists with Anne Lohrenz adding 14. Libby Short racked up 16 digs, Liz Sweeney had 12, and Amy Garner contributed four blocks. [STATS]

Sarah Zeltman pounded 15 kills to lead the unbeaten Lady Jackets to a shocking three-game sweep at #5 Madonna in the Madonna Invitational. The host Crusaders held a 73-match homecourt winning streak dating back to Sept. 8, 2001 until CU snapped with a 30-25, 30-27, 30-21 performance. Julia Bradley totaled 11 kills and four blocks while freshman Emily Berger came through with nine kills and 12 digs. Libby Short came up with 17 digs and Rachel Thompson handed out 36 assists for the Jackets, 9-0 overall. [STATS]

Cedarville opened play at the Madonna Invitational by sweeping aside Davenport 30-20, 30-15, 30-21. Sara Zeltman led the attack with 12 kills as the only player to reach double figures. Julia Bradley hammered 19 kills to help NAIA No. 17 Cedarville remain unbeaten with a win versus Taylor in non-conference play. The Lady Jackets, 7-0 overall, won by scores of 30-25, 30-21, 23-30, 30-25. It marked the first time this season that CU had lost a game. Sarah Zeltman was also a force at the net with 18 kills and a team-high five blocks. Anne Lohrenz added 10 kills and freshman Emily Berger recorded four blocks to go along with 12 digs. The Lady Jackets wrapped up the Cedarville Invitational title for the third straight year with a 30-23, 30-17, 30-26 win versus Saint Francis (Ind.) in the championship match. Julia Bradley pounded 12 kills and turned away three blocks for CU, 6-0 overall. Sarah Zeltman recorded 10 kills, 11 digs, and a pair of service aces. Rachel Thompson handed out 38 assists and Libby Short led the back line with 16 digs. Bradley and Zeltman were both voted to the six-player all-tournament team. [STATS]

Cedarville opened the final day of their own invitational with a 31-29, 30-18, 30-17 decision over Grace. Julia Bradley paced the play at the net with 14 kills and five blocks. Tournament MVP Sarah Zeltman totaled 19 kills and four blocks to lead the way while freshman Emily Berger drilled 10. Rachel Thompson recorded 34 assists, Maija Hampton had 12 digs and Libby Short added 11 for CU, 2-0 overall. Zeltman was joined on the all-tournament team by Short and Julia Bradley. [STATS]
Aug. 25, Taylor-Fort Wayne - (Grace Classic)
The NAIA No. 17 Lady Jackets presented Melissa Hartman with a victory in her first match as head coach with a three-game sweep of Taylor-Fort Wayne at the Grace Classic. Cedarville won the season opener by scores of 30-17, 30-13, 30-9. Julia Bradley, an NAIA All-America Third Team performer last fall, began her trek toward becoming the school's all-time kills leader by registering 13 to go along with four blocks. Sarah Zeltman added 12 kills to the attack. Rachel Thompson handed out 38 assists and Maija Hampton came up with 11 digs. Bradley upped her career kills total to 2,160. She only trails Heather van der Aa, who hammered 2,390 kills during her NAIA All-America career from 1998 through 2001. [STATS]
