Betsy Verwys begins her second year of tennis competition with the Lady Jackets after transferring from Grand Rapids Community College.....registered a 16-5 mark playing at #5 singles.....combined with Laura McCully to finish 12-6 at #2 doubles.....recorded the lone CU singles win (6-4, 6-0) in the NAIA Region IX finals against Tiffin.....named an NAIA and NCCAA All-America Scholar-Athlete.....AMC Scholar-Athlete.
2005 - Posted an 8-2 singles record at Grand Rapids Community College.....named the 2005 Student-Athlete of the Year at GRCC.
High School - Produced a four-sport career at Grand Rapids Baptist High School.....two-year letter winner in tennis.....team captured consecutive regional titles in 2002 and 2003.....squad advanced to the state quarterfinals.....named to the all-conference team her senior season.....two-year letter winner in softball and volleyball.....also played basketball.....National Honor Society student.
Personal - Dean's List student as a business marketing major at Cedarville University.....born 2/7/85 in Grand Rapids, MI.....daughter of Phillip and Jean Verwys.....older brother, Nathan, played baseball at Cedarville from 1998 through 2000.....has one other older brother.
