Christian Maat is a third-year thrower for the Yellow Jackets.....American Mideast Conference Second Team performer in the hammer with a heave of 158-feet 4-inches for runner-up honors.....unloaded a career-best toss of 168-9 in the Cedarville Qualifier.....advanced to the NAIA Outdoor Championship and had a mark of 162-7 in the prelims.....posted other personal bests in the javelin (148-7), which placed 7th in the AMC, discus (118-11), and indoor weight throw (46-0.75).
2006 - Participated in five indoor meets during his freshman season in the weight throw with a season-best effort of 40-feet 7-inches at the NCCAA Championship.....moved to the outdoor circuit where he placed 5th in the AMC hammer throw at 135-2.50 which was a season-best.....also recorded top marks in the discus (109-1) and javelin (127-3).
High School - Competed four years in track & field at Kenowa Hills (Mich.) High School.....two-year letter winner.....specialized in the discus placing 5th in the region and 5th in the conference.....established a career-high effort of 132-feet 10-inches.....played two years of football with two letters.....National Honor Society student.
Personal - Dean's List student as an accounting major at Cedarville University.....born 7/20/87 in Grand Rapids, MI.....son of Ray and Sheryl Maat.....older sister, Samantha Modderman, was a four-year NAIA All-America distance runner for the Lady Jackets from 2004-07.....also has two younger brothers.
