Matt Silveira returns to the track in the distance events after sitting out the 2007 season.....is in his third year at CU after transferring from MidAmerica Nazarene.....appeared in seven varsity cross country meets in the fall.....placed among the team?s top seven six times with a season-best effort of 27:11 for the 8K in the Cedarville Invitational.

2006-07 - Made his first appearance with the Yellow Jacket cross country team in the fall.....ran in all eight varsity meets and placed in the Jackets? top seven in seven outings.....recorded a season-best time of 26:48 and placed 11th overall at the Cedarville Invitational.

2005-06 - Posted an indoor season-best of 4:34.61 in the mile for the CU track team.....focused on the 3,000 meter steeplechase during the outdoor season.....finished 4th in the AMC Championship with a season-best 9:58.72 effort.....prior to his move to Cedarville, MidAmerica Nazarene?s #5 finisher in cross country and placed 39th overall at the NCCAA Nationals in 27:24 to help MANU to a 4th-place performance.....earned Heart of America First Team and All-Region recognition.

High School - Graduated from nearby Fairborn High School after lettering one season in cross country and track.....previously was a three-year letter winner at Beyer High School in California.....cross country MVP as a senior at Fairborn.....named to the Mid-Miami League First Team.....earned all-district and all-region honors.....placed 14th in the region and 50th in the Ohio Division I meet in 16:48 for the 5K.....MVP of track & field team, region qualifier, and All-MML Second Team.....member of 2004 Miami Valley Track Club cross country squad that placed 3rd nationally in the Junior Olympics.....two-time cross country MVP at Beyer and twice named to the Central California Conference First Team.....part of 2003 conference title team.

Personal - Carries an environmental biology major at Cedarville University.....born 11/19/86 in Modesto, CA.....married wife, Megan, on June 19, 2006.....son of Jim Silveira and Martha Silveira.....has one older brother and a younger sister.
