Thayer joins Yellow Jackets

Naperville (Ill.) Central High School product Evan Thayer (left) is seated next to Cedarville University men's cross country coach Paul Orchard after signing a letter of intent to attend Cedarville University. Evan is joined by his parents, Martin and Carolyn Thayer. A three-time state qualifier in track & field, Thayer is an all-state 4 x 800 meter relay performer. He is a three-time letter winner on the track and a two-year letter winner in cross country while serving as a team captain in both sports.
Cathey signs with Cedarville

Safety Harbor, Fla. native Joseph Cathey (seated left) has signed a letter of intent to attend Cedarville University and run cross country for the Yellow Jackets. He is joined by his parents, Tom and Gail Cathey (standing) as well as CU head coach Paul Orchard. Cathey was a three-time region and state qualifier at Calvary Christian High School. He was the district champion and placed 14th in the state.

Cedarville 25th at NAIA
KENOSHA, Wis. (11-17-2007) - Jud Brooker placed 61st out of 258 runners at the NAIA Championship where the Yellow Jackets finished 25th as a team. American Mideast Conference member Malone cruised to the team title with a 143-point victory.
Brooker covered the 8,000 meters in 25:57. The rest of the Cedarville line-up featured Rob Trennepohl (181st; 26:56), Jordan Davies (182nd; 26:56), Kevin Kuhn (204th; 27:16), T.J. Badertscher (213th; 27:20), Seth Campbell (226th; 27:32), and Joshua Saunders (237th; 27:53). [RESULTS]
Cedarville 4th in NCCAA Nationals
CEDARVILLE, Ohio (11-10-2007) - Jud Brooker and T.J. Badertscher picked up All-America honors as the NAIA No. 24 Yellow Jackets placed 4th of 22 schools at the NCCAA Championships. NAIA No. 1 ranked Malone cruised to victory at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course with 30 points. No. 17 Indiana Wesleyan had 63 points, No. 18 MidAmerica Nazarene finished with 91 points, and Cedarville totaled 97.
The top 15 finishers are labeled NCCAA All-Americans and Brooker was 7th of 156 competitors in 25:40 for the 8,000 meters. Badertscher placed 12th in 25:58. Other Yellow Jackets to score were Kevin Kuhn (20th; 26:29), Rob Trennepohl (30th; 26:49), and Jordan Davies (37th; 27:02). Also, Joshua Saunders was 43rd in 27:17 and Matt Silveira was 51st in 27:40.
Kuhn, Saunders, and Trennepohl were recognized as NCCAA Scholar-Athletes. The list includes juniors and seniors who carry a minimum 3.40 cumulative grade point average. [NCCAA RESULTS - ALL-AMERICANS - SCHOLAR-ATHLETES]

Jackets nip SSU for 2nd at NAIA regional
NORTH CANTON, Ohio (11-3-2007) - Cedarville edged NAIA No. 12 Shawnee State for the runner-up spot at the AMC/NAIA Region IX Championship at Walsh University. The outcome may have given the Yellow Jackets an at-large berth to the NAIA Nationals in Kenosha, Wis. on Nov. 17.
With unanimous NAIA No. 1 Malone in the field, everyone else was running for 2nd place as the Pioneers cruised to their 15th straight conference title with 24 points. CU finished with 69 points while the Bears tallied 70.
Jud Brooker placed 3rd in 25:39 for the 8,000 meters. It also landed him on the All-AMC First Team for finishing in the top seven. T.J. Badertscher was 10th in 26:25 while Kevin Kuhn finished 13th in 26:36. They earned spots on the All-AMC Second Team.
Rob Trennepohl garnered honorable mention recognition with his 18th-place showing in 26:49. Rounding out CU's top seven were Jordan Davies (26th; 27:07), Matt Silveira (31st; 27:20), and Joshua Saunders (35th; 27:42). [NAIA REGION IX RESULTS - AMC RESULTS - ALL-AMC TEAM]
