Nov. 30, Master's (NCCAA National Tournament)
Master's rallied from a 29-25 deficit in the third game to complete a sweep over Cedarville 30-28, 30-23, 32-30 and end the Lady Jackets' season. Sarah Zeltman ripped 16 kills coupled with five blocks. Kylee Husak hammered 11 kills and Katie Moon dished out 37 assists. Five players recorded 10 or more digs led by Libby Short with 22 while Maija Hampton had 15 and Casey Hinzman tallied 14. [STATS]
Nov. 30, Bethel (NCCAA National Tournament)
Bethel was too much for CU as the Pilots rolled 30-24, 30-17, 30-24. Sarah Zeltman was the lone player to reach twin figures in kills with 15 as the Lady Jackets struggled with a .028 team attack percentage. Katie Moon was credited with 25 assists, Libby Short totaled 20 digs, and Sarah Sheers added 11. [STATS]
Nov. 29, Palm Beach Atlantic (NCCAA National Tournament)
Sarah Zeltman became the all-time kills leader for the Lady Jackets, but the two-time defending champions lost their NCCAA National Tournament opener in five games to Palm Beach Atlantic. The No. 7 seed Sailfish outlasted No. 6 Cedarville 30-17, 29-31, 30-14, 28-30, 15-12 in pool play in what was a rematch of the 2006 championship contest. Zeltman hammered 20 kills to increase her career total to 2,820 to surpass the old mark of 2,813 set by 2006 grad Julia Bradley. Already CU's all-time leader in total blocks, the six-foot senior middle hitter turned aside three more blocks in the match. Justine Christiaanse tallied 10 kills while Maija Hampton added nine kills and 17 digs for Cedarville, 24-13 overall. Libby Short piled up 39 digs, Sarah Sheers contributed 20, and Katie Moon handed out 46 assists. [STATS]
Nov. 10, Malone (AMC/NAIA Region IX Tournament)
Malone surprised three-time defending champion Cedarville in the AMC/NAIA Region IX semifinals. The Pioneers won the match 30-23, 30-18, 26-30, 30-28. Sarah Zeltman pounded 25 kills with five blocks for the Lady Jackets, 24-12 overall. Maija Hampton totaled nine kills and 13 digs, Emily Berger had eight kills, and Kylee Husak added six kills and five blocks. Libby Short came up with a team-high 22 digs and Katie Moon had 44 assists. Malone improved to 23-17 on the season. [STATS]
Nov. 9, Walsh (AMC/NAIA Region IX Tournament)
The Lady Jackets stunned Walsh 30-24, 30-25, 25-30, 22-30, 15-10 to wrap up pool play. Sarah Zeltman racked up 23 kills and a career-high 12 blocks to become CU's all-time blocks leader with 709. Julia Bradley owned the old record of 705. Emily Berger pounded 18 kills, Justine Christiaanse added 10, Maija Hampton came up with 17 digs, and Katie Moon had 58 assists. [STATS]
Nov. 9, Notre Dame (AMC/NAIA Region IX Tournament)
CU swept Notre Dame 30-21, 30-24, 30-27 in the first match of the day. Sarah Zeltman tallied 15 kills with seven blocks and Maija Hampton totaled 10 kills and 17 digs. Katie Moon handed out 46 assists and Sarah Sheers chipped in 10 digs. [STATS]
Nov. 3, Indiana Wesleyan (NCCAA Midwest Regional)
Indiana Wesleyan took the two-time defending NCCAA national champion Lady Jackets in three games to win the Midwest Region banner 30-27, 30-19, 30-28. Emily Berger had nine kills while Sarah Zeltman contributed seven kills and six blocks. Maija Hampton had seven kills and 14 digs, Katie Moon set up 26 assists, and Casey Hinzman had 16 digs. Zeltman, Short, and Hampton were named to the All-NCCAA Midwest Region Team. [STATS]
Nov. 3, at Spring Arbor (NCCAA Midwest Regional)
Cedarville swept host Spring Arbor 30-24, 30-23, 30-27 in the first match. Sarah Zeltman pounded 13 kills with six blocks. Maija Hampton totaled 11 kills, four blocks, and 17 digs. Katie Moon handed out 35 assists, Libby Short had 12 digs, and Kylee Husak turned aside four blocks. [STATS]
Oct. 30, at Ohio Dominican
Cedarville bounced back from an opening-game loss to outlast Ohio Dominican in five games in the AMC South Division finale. The Lady Jackets won it 26-30, 30-18, 30-24, 27-30, 15-7. Sarah Zeltman ripped 19 kills and turned aside seven blocks for CU, 21-10 overall and 9-3 AMC. Katie Moon set up 47 assists, Libby Short totaled 26 digs, and Maija Hampton served up three service aces. [STATS]
Oct. 27, Dallas (Wittenberg Classic)
Sarah Zeltman piled up 23 kills, seven blocks, and four service aces to lead Cedarville to a 25-30, 30-22, 30-10, 30-20 victory over NCAA Division III Dallas. Liz Sweeney produced 14 kills and 10 digs. Libby Short came up with 21 digs and became the third player in school history to surpass 2,000 for her career. Katie Moon had 27 assists and Sarah Sheers added 23 assists. [STATS]
Oct. 27, Carthage (Wittenberg Classic)
NCAA Division III No. 5 ranked Carthage defeated CU 26-30, 30-28, 33-31, 30-20 at the Wittenberg Classic. Maija Hampton had 14 kills and 17 digs against Carthage. Sarah Zeltman added 11 kills and eight blocks while Emily Berger chipped in 10 kills. Libby Short had 17 digs, Katie Moon recorded 26 assists, and Sarah Sheers handed out 21 assists. [STATS]
Oct. 25, at Central State
Cedarville coasted to a three-game non-conference victory at Greene County rival Central State. The Lady Jackets improved to 19-9 overall after winning 30-9, 30-12, 30-18. Liz Sweeney was the only CU player to reach double figures in kills with 10 to go along with three service aces. Sarah Hartman added five kills, Katherine McKenzie came up with five digs, and Sarah Sheers totaled 22 assists. Emily Berger, Maija Hampton, and Sarah Zeltman played just one game each. Oct. 23, at Mount Vernon Nazarene
NAIA No. 17 Mount Vernon Nazarene ran its winning streak to 19 in a row by defeating the Lady Jackets for the third time this season. The Cougars, 31-1 overall and 9-0 AMC, took the match 34-32, 22-30, 30-25, 30-20. Cedarville, 18-9 and 8-3 AMC, received 19 kills and seven blocks from Sarah Zeltman. Justine Christiaanse came through with 16 kills. Katie Moon dished out 59 assists and Libby Short paced the back row with 21 digs. [STATS]
Oct. 17, at Walsh
Walsh hung on to defeat Cedarville in five games in an important AMC South Division match. The Cavaliers won 30-25, 25-30, 30-24, 25-30, 15-10 with the outcome leaving both teams two games behind NAIA No. 17 Mount Vernon Nazarene, who leads the division. Sarah Zeltman pounded 21 kills and turned aside four blocks to lead the Lady Jackets at the net. Kylee Husak provided 12 kills. Katie Moon set up 52 assists, Libby Short had 18 digs, and Sarah Sheers tallied six service aces. Cedarville, 18-8 overall and 8-2 AMC, had swept Walsh on Oct. 6 in the annual Homecoming match. The Cavaliers improve to 21-5 and 6-2 AMC. [STATS]
Oct. 13, at Shawnee State
Cedarville kept its unbeaten streak intact against Shawnee State with a three-game sweep in AMC South Division play. The Yellow Jackets won by scores of 30-28, 30-23, 30-26 to move to 35-0 against the Bears in the all-time season series. Sarah Zeltman tallied 14 kills, two blocks, and two service aces as Cedarville improved to 18-7 overall and 8-1 AMC. Kylee Husak added 11 kills and a career-high five solo blocks. Maija Hampton came through with nine kills and a season-high 26 digs while Emily Berger and Justine Christiaanse chipped in eight kills each. Katie Moon totaled 47 assists, Sarah Sheers had 14 digs, and Libby Short came up with 12 digs. Shawnee State drops to 12-12 and 1-7 AMC. [STATS]
Oct. 11, URBANA
Sarah Zeltman, who is the Lady Jackets' only senior, was honored before the final home match of the 2007 season and then buried 15 kills to lead Cedarville past Urbana. The Jackets, 17-7 overall and 7-1 AMC, defeated the Blue Knights 30-25, 30-21, 30-22 in an American Mideast Conference South Division contest. Zeltman was the lone player to reach double figures in kills. She added team-highs of seven blocks and four service aces to her performance. Sarah Sheers had 11 digs and Katie Moon, the reigning NAIA National Setter of the Week, dished out 40 assists. Maija Hampton added nine kills and nine digs, Kylee Husak had eight kills and five blocks, and Casey Hinzman chipped in three aces. [STATS]
Oct. 9, at Rio Grande
The Lady Jackets continued their mastery over Rio Grande by sweeping the Redwomen in an American Mideast Conference South Division match. Cedarville won by scores of 30-19, 30-23, 32-30. Sarah Zeltman totaled 12 kills and four blocks while Emily Berger had nine kills. Maija Hampton had eight kills and nine digs with Sarah Hartman adding eight kills. Libby Short was credited with 10 digs and Katie Moon had 40 assists. Cedarville has won 31 straight in the season series. The Lady Jackets have not lost to Rio since a five-game road setback on Nov. 2, 1993. [STATS]
Oct. 6, WALSH
Cedarville kept itself in the American Mideast Conference South Division race by stunning NAIA No. 19 Walsh in four games. The Lady Jackets prevailed 30-23, 35-33, 27-30, 30-25 in the Callan Athletic Center on Homecoming Saturday. Four Lady Jackets reached double figures in kills with sophomore outside hitter Emily Berger leading the way as she pounded a career-high 23. Sarah Zeltman totaled 19 kills, four blocks, and a pair of service aces. Maija Hampton tallied 16 kills with a team-high 17 digs while Kylee Husak had 11 kills. Katie Moon handed out a career-high 70 assists and Libby Short added 16 digs. [STATS]
Oct. 2, OHIO DOMINICAN
The Yellow Jackets needed three games to return to the winning side of the ledger by defeating Ohio Dominican in an AMC South Division match. Cedarville, 14-7 overall and 4-1 AMC, won by scores of 30-18, 30-25, 30-20. Sarah Zeltman totaled 20 kills and four blocks for the hosts while Emily Berger added 11 kills. Libby Short came up with a season-high 27 digs, Casey Hinzman tallied 11, and Maija Hampton had 10 digs to go along with nine kills and a pair of service aces. Katie Moon dished out 44 assists. The Panthers dropped to 12-10 and 2-3 AMC. [STATS]
Sept. 27, MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE
Mount Vernon Nazarene brought Cedarville's 54-match home court winning streak to a halt in a four-game AMC South Division contest. The Cougars won by scores of 26-30, 30-16, 30-18, 30-23. The Lady Jackets, 13-7 overall and 3-1 AMC, had not lost in the Callan Athletic Center since Oct. 18, 2003 when Indiana Wesleyan swept them in three games. The last conference loss occurred to Malone that same year in three games on Oct. 11. Maija Hampton paced the CU attack with 14 kills and 11 digs. Sarah Zeltman, who leads the AMC in kills per game and hammered 35 versus MVNU five days earlier in a tournament at Saint Francis (Ind.), was held in check with nine. Kylee Husak had nine kills, Libby Short came up with 17 digs, and Katie Moon totaled 44 assists and 11 digs. Mount Vernon Nazarene improves to 15-1 and 3-0. [STATS]
Sept. 22, Mount Vernon Nazarene (Saint Francis Challenge)
Sarah Zeltman pounded 35 kills with four blocks in a four-game match versus Mount Vernon Nazarene with the Cougars prevailing 30-17, 27-30, 30-28, 30-16. The Jackets finished 4th in the ten-team field. Katie Moon totaled 44 assists and 17 digs. Libby Short added 18 digs, Maija Hampton had 17, and Casey Hinzman served up three service aces. Sept. 22, Lindenwood (Saint Francis Challenge)
The Lady Jackets stunned eventual champion and NAIA No. 14 Lindenwood 30-27, 19-30, 30-24, 30-18 behind Sarah Zeltman's 24 kills. Kylee Husak provided 10 kills and five blocks. Libby Short keyed the back row play with 20 digs, Maija Hampton added 13 digs, and Katie Moon recorded 46 assists. [STATS]
Sept. 22, Olivet Nazarene (Saint Francis Challenge)
CU swept Olivet Nazarene 30-17, 34-32, 30-26. Sarah Zeltman totaled 18 kills and Kylee Husack came through with four blocks. Libby Short and Maija Hampton came up with 10 digs each and Katie Moon dished out 36 assists. [STATS]
Sept. 21, Indiana Wesleyan (Saint Francis Challenge)
Indiana Wesleyan rebounded from a first-game loss for a 26-30, 30-24, 30-18, 30-19 decision over the Lady Jackets. Sarah Zeltman paced the attack with 15 kills and Justine Christiaanse tallied 11. Sept. 21, Roberts Wesleyan (Saint Francis Challenge)
CU took care of American Mideast Conference member Roberts Wesleyan 30-20, 30-20, 30-17 to open play at the Saint Francis Challenge. Sarah Zeltman piled up 14 kills with seven blocks and Kylee Husak added 10 kills. Katie Moon totaled 32 assists and nine digs while Sarah Sheers and Libby Short provided nine digs each. [STATS]
Sept. 18, RIO GRANDE
Sarah Zeltman buried 22 kills to go along with four blocks as the Lady Jackets remained unbeaten in the AMC South Division with a victory over Rio Grande. Cedarville won by scores of 30-25, 30-15, 30-21 in the Callan Athletic Center to improve to 10-4 overall and 3-0 AMC. Freshman Kylee Husak aided the attack with 12 kills. Emily Berger, Justine Christiaanse, and Maija Hampton added six kills each. Libby Short registered 20 digs and Katie Moon was credited with 46 assists. Rio dips to 6-9 and 1-2 AMC. [STATS]
Sept. 15, Illinois-Springfield (Taylor Challenge)
Cedarville, 9-4 overall, rebounded to drill Illinois-Springfield 24-30, 30-10, 30-12, 30-21. Sarah Zeltman racked up 27 kills with six blocks. Maija Hampton totaled 12 kills and 10 digs with 10 more kills coming from Kylee Husak. Katie Moon had 55 assists, Libby Short recorded 14 digs, and Sarah Sheers served up five aces. Zeltman, who was named to the all-tournament team, ran her career kills total to 2,405. She rates second in CU volleyball history to Julia Bradley, who had 2,813 from 2003 through 2006. [STATS]
Sept. 15, Houghton (Taylor Challenge)
The Jackets, members of the American Mideast Conference South Division, swept AMC North resident Houghton 30-20, 30-21, 30-20. Sarah Zeltman buried 24 kills and turned aside six blocks. Katie Moon set up 41 assists and Libby Short contributed 15 digs. [STATS]
Sept. 14, Illinois Tech (Taylor Challenge)
Illinois Tech won all the close ones for a 30-28, 23-30, 34-32, 31-29 decision over the Jackets, 7-4 overall. Sarah Zeltman was the only player to reach double figures in kills with 18 to go along with six blocks. Katie Moon had 43 assists, Libby Short paced the back row with 14 digs, and Maija Hampton added 12. [STATS]
Sept. 14, Davenport (Taylor Challenge)
Sarah Zeltman pounded 21 kills with six blocks as Cedarville went the distance against Davenport for a 28-30, 30-24, 30-23, 30-32, 16-14 win. Maija Hampton tallied 19 kills with 16 digs while Kylee Husak added 14 kills. Katie Moon totaled 47 assists and 22 digs with Libby Short also coming up with 22 digs. [STATS]
Sept. 11, SHAWNEE STATE
Sarah Zeltman hammered 19 kills and became Cedarville's all-time leader in solo blocks during an AMC South Division victory over Shawnee State in the Callan Athletic Center. The NAIA No. 24 Lady Jackets won by scores of 30-23, 30-16, 26-30, 30-25. Zeltman tallied three solo blocks in the match to increase her career total to 263 to surpass the old mark of 260 set by 2006 grad Julia Bradley. Zeltman added five block assists for eight total blocks in the victory. Maija Hampton had 15 kills and 16 digs for Cedarville, 6-3 overall and 2-0 AMC. Kylee Husak contributed 11 kills while Libby Short had 12 digs. Sarah Sheers was credited with 29 assists and Katie Moon had 27. Shawnee State falls to 5-4 and 0-1 AMC. [STATS]
Sept. 8, Madonna (Madonna Invitational)
Host Madonna ended NAIA No. 24 Cedarville's stay by sweeping the Lady Jackets, 31-29, 30-26, 30-24. Sarah Zeltman hammered 17 kills and Kylee Husak added 10. Sarah Sheers set up 24 assists, Katie Moon had 23, and Maija Hampton racked up 18 digs. Zeltman was named to the seven-member all-tournament team. [STATS]
Sept. 8, Indiana Tech (Madonna Invitational)
Sarah Zeltman pounded 23 kills and turned aside 10 blocks in the 29-31, 30-21, 30-21, 21-30, 15-6 victory against Indiana Tech. Freshman middle hitter Kylee Husak had 13 kills and Katie Moon contributed 35 assists and 16 digs. The defense was busy with Casey Hinzman totaling 26 digs and Maija Hampton coming through with 23. Sept. 7, Georgetown (Madonna Invitational)
Georgetown took care of the Lady Jackets 30-26, 30-26, 30-23. Cedarville mustered just 32 kills total. Maija Hampton had seven kills with seven digs while Sarah Zeltman totaled seven kills and four blocks. Libby Short and Casey Hinzman had seven digs each, Sarah Sheers produced 14 assists, and Katie Moon had 13. [STATS]
Sept. 7, Taylor (Madonna Invitational)
Maija Hampton led three players in double figures with 11 kills in a 21-30, 30-26, 30-22, 30-20 setback to Taylor as the NAIA No. 24 Lady Jackets opened play at the Madonna Invitational. Sarah Zeltman pounded 10 kills with four blocks and Emily Berger added 10 kills. Libby Short produced 18 digs, Casey Hinzman tallied 10, and Sarah Sheers and Katie Moon handed out 18 assists each. Kylee Husak, who suffered a broken finger in the pre-season, made her collegiate debut with nine blocks. [STATS]
Sept. 4, at Urbana
Maija Hampton hammered 11 kills and came up with 15 digs as Cedarville began AMC South Division action with a three-game sweep at Urbana. The Lady Jackets, 4-0 overall, put away the Blue Knights 30-25, 30-22, 30-13. Sarah Zeltman registered eight kills and six blocks at the net while Emily Berger added seven kills. Libby Short had three service aces and matched Hampton with 15 digs. Katie Moon doled out 19 assists and Sarah Sheers tallied 10. Urbana drops to 2-7 overall and 0-1 AMC. [STATS]
Aug. 31, CENTRAL STATE
The Lady Jackets had little problem with extending their Callan Athletic Center winning streak to 52 in a row with a 30-6, 30-10, 30-16 victory over Central State in the home opener. Sarah Zeltman had nine kills and six service aces while Emily Berger pounded eight kills. Katie Moon handed out 16 assists, Sarah Sheers had 16, and Katherine MacKenzie came up with seven digs. Cedarville, 3-0 overall, served up 19 aces as a team against CSU, 0-2. [STATS]
Aug. 25, Edinboro (Grace Classic)
Tournament MVP Sarah Zeltman buried 12 kills as the Lady Jackets defeated Edinboro 30-21, 21-30, 30-28, 30-25 to win the Grace Classic. It marked the third year in a row that Cedarville won the tournament and the second straight time that Zeltman was labeled MVP. Sarah Sheers contributed 19 assists and six service aces while Katie Moon tallied 16 assists. Libby Short came up with 16 digs and Maija Hampton added 14. Sheers and Emily Berger joined Zeltman on the all-tournament team. [STATS]
Aug. 24, at Grace (Grace Classic)
The three-time defending NAIA Region IX champion Lady Jackets prevailed over host Grace 39-37, 30-28, 30-21 to begin the 2007 season. Zeltman hammered 18 kills and Hampton tacked on 14. Sheers served up five aces with 21 assists, Moon handed out 25 assists, and Short provided 26 digs. [STATS]
