Wise earns spot on All-AMC Team
CEDARVILLE, Ohio (10-30-2007) - Kelly Wise has been named to the American Mideast Conference South Division Second Team for the 2007 campaign. The sophomore forward from Mohnton, Pa. achieved the honor in a vote by the league's coaches.
Wise overcame early season injury troubles to play in 13 matches with 11 starts. She finished second on the squad in scoring with six goals and two assists for 14 points.
Three Lady Jackets were listed as honorable mention. The trio includes Katie Koch, a junior forward from Lilburn, Ga.; Amber Laing, a junior goalkeeper from Warminster, Pa.; and Kristin Merkel, a senior defender from East Greenville, Pa. [ALL-AMC SOUTH DIVISION WOMEN'S SOCCER TEAM]

Lady Jackets end season with setback at MVNU
MOUNT VERNON, Ohio (10-23-2007) - Mount Vernon Nazarene claimed a share of the AMC South Division title with a 5-1 victory over the Lady Jackets. Cedarville ends the season 4-12-1 overall and 2-3-1 AMC.
The Cougars, 12-4-1 and 5-1 AMC, netted three goals in the first half for a 3-0 advantage at the intermission. Kelly Wise scored her sixth goal of the season in the 57th minute on assists from Bethany Wailes and Kristin Merkel. MVNU completed the scoring in the 77th and 79th minutes.
Amber Laing recorded 12 saves in 90 minutes of action. The Cougars attempted 28 total shots with 18 on goal compared to four shots from Cedarville with three on goal. [STATS]

Houghton rallies to beat Jackets
HOUGHTON, N.Y. (10-20-2007) - Cedarville surprised perennial NAIA power Houghton with an early goal, but the Highlanders rebounded for a 3-1 victory.
Katie Koch perfectly placed the Lady Jackets' only shot on goal into the net in the 5th minute for her seventh score of the season. Houghton, an AMC North Division member and 10-2-2 overall, got the equalizer in the 26th minute.
It was 1-1 at the intermission and the Highlanders netted goals in the 52nd and 73rd minutes to account for the final. Amber Laing made six saves for Cedarville, 4-11-1. The hosts had the distinct advantage in overall shots (22-3) and shots on goal (9-1). [STATS]

Kristin Merkel, the only senior on the 2007 women's soccer roster, is congratulated by head coach John McGillivray prior to her final regular season home match with the Lady Jackets on Oct. 16. Cedarville won the match, 4-0.
