Wong to join Lady Jackets

Dillsburg, Pa. native Rachel Wong (seated center) has signed a letter of intent to attend Cedarville University and be a part of the Lady Jacket distance running program. She is seated between her parents Leonard and Elizabeth Wong. Standing (from left-to-right) are Northern York High School head track & field coach Dave Ramsey, head cross country coach Al Houser, and assistant cross country coach Cherie Ramsey. Rachel is a homeschool student who runs for Northern York and placed 16th at the PIAA State Cross Country Championship. She finished 4th in the 800 meters at the 2007 state track meet. Rachel will join older sister, Lydia, who is a sophomore runner at CU.
Cann signs with Cedarville

She is joined by her mother, Mary Cann, and CU head coach Elvin King. Cann is a two-time All-District and All-Ohio Capital Conference First Team performer. Carolyn is the daughter of Bruce and Mary Cann of Columbus.

Lady Jackets repeat as NAIA runner-up
KENOSHA, Wis. (11-17-2007) - Nicole Santos and Lydia Wong posted All-America efforts and the Lady Jackets finished as the NAIA national runner-up for the second year in a row. Simon Fraser (B.C.) won the banner for the fifth straight time with 99 points while Cedarville was second in the 29-team field with 145 points.
Santos earned All-America honors for the second consecutive year with a time of 18:08 for the 5,000 meters. Wong grabbed the 30th and final All-America position with a mark of 18:26.
Other Lady Jackets to score were Brittany Simpson (32nd; 18:27), Elisabeth Pyles (35th; 18:28), and Audree Goodew (78th; 18:59). Stacey Keller was 104th (19:13) and Melissa Wysong placed 169th (19:46). [RESULTS]

CEDARVILLE, Ohio (11-10-2007) - NAIA No. 2 Cedarville won its second straight NCCAA banner and seventh overall by outrunning the field at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course. The Lady Jackets had 29 points, NAIA No. 5 Malone tallied 61, and No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan had 94 as the top three teams in the 24-team meet.
Nicole Santos was the individual runner-up with a time of 18:14 for the 5,000 meters to lead a contingent of six CU All-Americans (top 15 finishers). Others in the group were Lydia Wong (3rd; 18:27), Elisabeth Pyles (5th; 18:30), Brittany Simpson (6th; 18:31), Audree Goodew (13th; 18:48), and Stacey Keller (14th; 18:52). Melissa Wysong placed 27th out of 162 runners in 19:32.
Elvin King was named the NCCAA Women's Coach of the Year. Six Lady Jackets were recognized as NCCAA Scholar-Athletes which are juniors and seniors who carry a minimum 3.40 cumulative grade point average. The list includes Leanne Crunelle, Keller, Pyles, Santos, Simpson, and Jessica Squier. [NCCAA RESULTS - ALL-AMERICANS - SCHOLAR-ATHLETES]
CU women repeat as AMC/NAIA Region IX champs

NORTH CANTON, Ohio (11-3-2007) - Nicole Santos won the individual title to lead the NAIA No. 4 Lady Jackets to their third straight AMC/NAIA Region IX championship. The victory gives Cedarville an automatic berth to the NAIA Nationals on Nov. 17 in Kenosha, Wis.
Santos toured the 5,000 meter course in a career-best time of 17:55 as the Lady Jackets grabbed five of the top ten places. Elisabeth Pyles was 3rd in 18:07, Brittany Simpson was 4th in 18:12, and Lydia Wong finished 7th in 18:18. That foursome each earned spots on the All-AMC First Team (top seven).
Audree Goodew placed 10th in 18:28 and Stacey Keller was 13th in 18:48. They were both named to the All-AMC Second Team (places 8-thru-14). Melissa Wysong finished 17th in 19:08 for AMC honorable mention recognition. Elvin King was tabbed AMC Coach of the Year.
Cedarville totaled 25 points to win the 12-team meet hosted by Walsh University. NAIA No. 9 Malone had 40 points for runner-up honors and Houghton was 3rd with 114 points. [NAIA REGION IX RESULTS - AMC RESULTS - ALL-AMC TEAM]
