Nov. 17, at NAIA Nationals
Nicole Santos and Lydia Wong posted All-America efforts and the Lady Jackets finished as the NAIA national runner-up for the second year in a row. Simon Fraser (B.C.) won the banner for the fifth straight time with 99 points while Cedarville was second in the 29-team field with 145 points. Santos earned All-America honors for the second consecutive year with a time of 18:08 for the 5,000 meters. Wong grabbed the 30th and final All-America position with a mark of 18:26. Other Lady Jackets to score were Brittany Simpson (32nd; 18:27), Elisabeth Pyles (35th; 18:28), and Audree Goodew (78th; 18:59). Nov. 10, NCCAA NATIONALS
NAIA No. 2 Cedarville won its second straight NCCAA banner and seventh overall by outrunning the field at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course. The Lady Jackets had 29 points, NAIA No. 5 Malone tallied 61, and No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan had 94 as the top three teams in the 24-team meet. Nicole Santos was the individual runner-up with a time of 18:14 for the 5,000 meters to lead a contingent of six CU All-Americans (top 15 finishers). Others in the group were Lydia Wong (3rd; 18:27), Elisabeth Pyles (5th; 18:30), Brittany Simpson (6th; 18:31), Audree Goodew (13th; 18:48), and Stacey Keller (14th; 18:52). Melissa Wysong placed 27th out of 162 runners in 19:32. Elvin King was named the NCCAA Women's Coach of the Year. Six Lady Jackets were recognized as NCCAA Scholar-Athletes which are juniors and seniors who carry a minimum 3.40 cumulative grade point average. Nov. 3, at AMC/NAIA Region IX Championship
Nicole Santos won the individual title to lead the NAIA No. 4 Lady Jackets to their third straight AMC/NAIA Region IX championship. The victory gives Cedarville an automatic berth to the NAIA Nationals on Nov. 17 in Kenosha, Wis. Santos toured the 5,000 meter course in a career-best time of 17:55 as the Lady Jackets grabbed five of the top ten places. Elisabeth Pyles was 3rd in 18:07, Brittany Simpson was 4th in 18:12, and Lydia Wong finished 7th in 18:18. That foursome each earned spots on the All-AMC First Team (top seven). Audree Goodew placed 10th in 18:28 and Stacey Keller was 13th in 18:48. They were both named to the All-AMC Second Team (places 8-thru-14). Melissa Wysong finished 17th in 19:08 for AMC honorable mention recognition. Elvin King was tabbed AMC Coach of the Year. Cedarville totaled 25 points to win the 12-team meet hosted by Walsh University. NAIA No. 9 Malone had 40 points for runner-up honors and Houghton was 3rd with 114 points. Oct. 20, at Southeastern Classic
NAIA No. 5 Cedarville ran to victory over 21 other schools at the Southeastern Classic. It marked the third year in a row that the Lady Jackets have won the meet. CU had four of the top six finishers with Lydia Wong again leading the way. She placed 2nd out of 183 competitors with a time of 18:37 for the 5,000 meters. Nicole Santos was 3rd in a season-best 18:47. Other runners in the Lady Jackets' top seven were Elisabeth Pyles (5th; 18:52), Brittany Simpson (6th; 18:52), Audree Goodew (11th; 19:16), Stacey Keller (17th; 19:36), and Melissa Wysong (19th; 19:41). The Jackets tallied 27 points while NAIA No. 8 and fellow American Mideast Conference member Malone was the runner-up with 48. Completing the top five were Union (Tenn.), 152; King, 185; and AMC member Shawnee State, 200. [RESULTS]
Oct. 5, at All-Ohio Intercollegiate
The NAIA No. 8 Lady Jackets made an impressive showing at the Ohio Intercollegiate Championship by placing 5th of 44 schools and claiming the NAIA/NCAA Division II title for the third straight time. Four NCAA Division I schools finished higher than the Jackets. Miami won the meet with 75 points and was followed by Ohio (80), Akron (100), Cincinnati (103), and Cedarville (121). CU totaled 30 points to win the 11-team NAIA/NCAA Division II competition with NAIA No. 5 Malone (44) and Findlay (67) rounding out the top three. Lydia Wong finished 14th out of 296 runners in 19:16 on a 5,000 meter course annually recognized as the toughest the runners will face all season. The October weather was also an unusual 80 degrees under sunny skies. Nicole Santos was 18th and Elisabeth Pyles placed 19th as both officially had a time of 19:22. Other Lady Jacket runners were Brittany Simpson (30th; 19:39), Audree Goodew (40th; 20:01), Stacey Keller (75th; 20:47), and Melissa Wysong (143rd; 21:52). [RESULTS]
Sept. 22, FIRST CEDARVILLE OPEN
Lydia Wong won the individual title at the First Cedarville Open and the NAIA No. 6 Lady Jackets grabbed six of the first 11 spots to coast to the team championship. Eight teams were in the field with CU totaling 21 points, runner-up Baldwin-Wallace had 47, and Taylor was 3rd with 87 points. Wong's winning time in the 5,000 meters was 18:40. Elisabeth Pyles was 3rd in 18:53, Nicole Santos had her finest run of the young season placing 4th in 18:57, and Brittany Simpson was 5th in 19:08. Melissa Wysong rounded out the scoring with an 8th-place showing in 19:28. Audree Goodew toured the 5K course in 19:40 to finish 11th. Stacey Keller was 17th in 20:14 during what was a rare warm and humid morning in September. [RESULTS]
Sept. 15, 17th Annual CEDARVILLE INVITATIONAL
The NAIA No. 3 Lady Jackets finished as the runner-up to NCAA Division I Miami in the 17th Annual Cedarville Invitational at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course. The RedHawks, who placed five runners in the Top 10 and totaled 24 points, won the 19-team event for the third time in the past four years. CU had 52 points to easily outdistance 3rd-place Kenyon. Sophomore Lydia Wong put together another impressive performance with a time of 18:32 for the 5,000 meters to place 4th out of 177 competitors. Brittany Simpson finished 8th in 18:41. Elisabeth Pyles posted an 18:54 effort to come in 12th. Also scoring for Cedarville were Stacey Keller (17th; 19:11) and Melissa Wysong (18th; 19:22). Rounding out the Lady Jacket top seven were Nicole Santos (19th; 19:23) and Audree Goodew (20th; 19:33). [RESULTS]
Aug. 31, at Shawnee State Invitational
NAIA No. 3 Cedarville began the schedule with a convincing win over five other schools at the Shawnee State Invitational. The Lady Jackets had 12 of the top 15 finishers in the race including places 2 through 9. Leading the way for CU was Lydia Wong, who placed 2nd with a career-best time of 18:23 for the 5K. Others to score for the Jackets were Brittany Simpson (3rd; 18:57), Elisabeth Pyles (4th; 18:58), Stacey Keller (5th; 19:14), and Melissa Wysong (6th; 19:18). Cedarville totaled 20 points. The rest of the field included host Shawnee State (43 points), Kentucky Christian (121), Mount Vernon Nazarene (124), Davis & Elkins (124), and Ohio Valley (126). [RESULTS]
