April 29, WITTENBERG
Wittenberg used a five-run seventh inning en route to an 8-4 victory over the Yellow Jackets in a non-conference game. Cedarville outhit the Tigers, 12-9, but served up eight walks and hit four other batters with pitches. Mark Wood was 3-for-5 at the plate with a double. Jeremy Howard was 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored, and two RBI. Josh Lunney had a pair of hits including a homer, Steve Strong had two hits with a double, and Mike Reed singled twice. April 26, at Mt. Vernon Nazarene (NCCAA District I Playoff)
Mt. Vernon Nazarene, ranked No. 12 in the NAIA and the two-time defending NCCAA National Champions, won the best 2-of-3 playoff versus the Yellow Jackets with 4-1 and 9-0 victories. In the opener, Cedarville scored in the first inning and stayed close the rest of the game. Gabe Schlappi was 2-for-3 with a double and run scored. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) In game two, the Cougars blew it open with five runs in the sixth inning. Schlappi was 3-for-3 for the Yellow Jackets. (GAME 2 BOXSCORE)

April 22, SHAWNEE STATE
Shawnee State hammered out 28 hits and rolled to a Mid-Ohio Conference twinbill sweep of the Yellow Jackets, 11-6 and 12-5. Josh Lunney was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Matt Neubert was 2-for-4 with two runs while Jeremy Howard was 2-for-4 with a double. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) In the second game, Cedarville held a 4-2 lead after four innings before the Bears erupted for ten runs in their final three at bats. Lunney was 1-for-3 with a triple and three RBI. April 19, MALONE
Cedarville rallied from a 5-0 deficit for an 8-7 victory to gain a split in their Mid-Ohio Conference doubleheader with Malone. The Pioneers won the first game, 9-2. Josh Lunney was 2-for-3 at the plate for the Jackets with a triple. Mark Wood and Mike Reed added two hits each. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) Cedarville needed five runs in the fourth inning to tie the nightcap. After giving up two runs in the fifth, the home team got a suicide squeeze bunt from Adam White in the fifth, plus run scoring singles from Lunney and Steve Strong in the sixth to win it. Lunney was 2-for-4 with a double, triple, two runs scored, and two RBI. Wood was 3-for-4 while Jeremy Howard and Gabe Schlappi stroked two hits each. April 15, at Walsh
Walsh stifled the Yellow Jacket offense in sweeping a Mid-Ohio Conference doubleheader, 3-2 and 11-0. Cedarville squeezed out a mere four hits in the opener. Josh Green's two-run single put the Jackets on the board first in the third inning. The Cavaliers won it on a three-run homer in the fourth. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) Cedarville went hitless in the second game which was shortened to five innings due to the mercy rule. The visitors had just five baserunners total -- two were hit by pitches and three others walked. (GAME 2 BOXSCORE)

April 14, at Urbana
Cedarville bounced back from a 9-0 drubbing in the first game of a Mid-Ohio Conference doubleheader at Urbana to win the second contest, 6-3. In the opener, Dustin Crider's third-inning single was the lone hit for the Yellow Jackets. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) Cedarville broke a 3-3 tie in the nightcap with a three-run seventh inning. Freshman Johnny Freese singled in the go ahead run and he finished 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, two runs scored, and two RBI. Josh Lunney scored twice and Matt Neubert pitched the final two innings to get the victory in relief. (GAME 2 BOXSCORE)

April 11, at Tiffin
The Yellow Jackets ended a six-game losing streak with a 7-2 victory at Tiffin in the first game of a Mid-Ohio Conference doubleheader. The Dragons claimed the nightcap, 10-1. In the opener, Cedarville scored three runs in the first inning en route to a 6-0 lead. Winning pitcher Johnny Freese allowed just five hits and went the distance. Josh Green was 2-for-5 at the plate with a double and an RBI while Josh Lunney was 2-for4. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) Game 2 was close until the sixth inning. Tiffin led 2-1 and then exploded for eight runs in the frame after two were out. (GAME 2 BOXSCORE)

April 8, RIO GRANDE
Rio Grande swept a Mid-Ohio Conference doubleheader from the host Yellow Jackets, 8-3 and 9-8. Cedarville took a 3-2 lead into the fifth inning of the opener, but the Redmen took advantage of a two-out, wind blown grand slam. Josh Green and Matt Neubert were each 1-for-3 with an RBI for the home team. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) The two teams played even in the second game and needed eight innings to decide the outcome. Rio scored four times in the top of the eighth inning, but Cedarville answered with three runs and had runners at first and second when the game ended. Mike Reed was 4-for-5 with two doubles and three RBI. Josh Lunney was 2-for-5 with two RBI. Josh Green homered and also drove in two runs. (GAME 2 BOXSCORE)

April 2, at Findlay
Findlay took a pair from Cedarville, 11-9 and 8-2, in Mid-Ohio Conference action. The Yellow Jackets rallied from a 6-0 deficit to take a 9-7 lead in the opener with a five-run sixth inning. But the Oilers answered with four runs in their half of the frame to regain the lead. Mark Wood was 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBI. Gabe Schlappi was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI while Matt Neubert was 2-for-4 with two RBI. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) In game two, Findlay held a slim 4-2 advantage prior to breaking it open with three runs in the fifth inning and one more in the sixth. Josh Lunney was 2-for-2 and scored both Yellow Jacket runs. Mark Wood was 2-for-3 and Josh Green had both RBI. (GAME 2 BOXSCORE)

March 31, MT. VERNON NAZARENE
Mt. Vernon Nazarene, ranked No. 10 in the NAIA, swept a Mid-Ohio Conference doubleheader from the Jackets by scores of 12-1 and 13-7. Josh Lunney had two of Cedarville's five hits in the first game. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) In game two, Cedarville spotted MVNC a 12-1 lead before coming back to make the outcome respectable. The Jackets hammered out 15 hits with Mark Wood and Matt Neubert collecting three each. Josh Green, Sean Moore, and Johnny Freese had two hits apiece. (GAME 2 BOXSCORE)

March 27, WILMINGTON
The Yellow Jackets rallied for two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to defeat Wilmington, 7-6, in their home opener. Gabe Schlappi singled to open the final frame and Dustin Crider was hit by a pitch. Both runners moved up on a balk and Schlappi scored on Mike Reed's groundout. Josh Lunney plated Crider with the gamewinner on a sacrifice fly. Lunney was 2-for-5 with a triple and two RBI while Reed was also 2-for-5 with two RBI. Schlappi scored three runs and Matt Neubert was the winning pitcher in relief. (BOXSCORE)

March 25, at Ohio Dominican
Ohio Dominican, ranked No. 22 in the NAIA, swept a Mid-Ohio Conference doubleheader from the Yellow Jackets, 10-0 and 9-3. Cedarville managed singles from Mike Reed, Josh Green, and Dustin Crider as their only hits in the first game. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) In game two, Reed was 2-for-3 with two RBI and Green doubled. March 21, at Tennessee Temple
Cedarville and Tennessee Temple split a doubleheader with the host Crusaders winning the first game 11-3 and the Jackets taking the nightcap, 7-4. In game one, Cedarville scored the first two runs before TTU scored 11 unanswered runs to take command. Mike Reed was 2-for-4 in the game and Jeremy Howard doubled. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) In game two, Steve Strong went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBI to lead the offense. Josh Green had two hits as did Jeremy Howard, who also scored twice. (GAME 2 BOXSCORE)

March 17, at Warner Southern
Warner Southern, playing its 27th game of the season, hammered Cedarville, 19-1, in a contest played in Lake Wales, FL. The Royals hammered out 22 hits and used a nine-run sixth inning to blow the game wide open. The Yellow Jackets managed just three hits. (BOXSCORE)

March 15, at Martin Methodist
The host Indians swept a pair from the Yellow Jackets by scores of 12-2 and 10-7 in a doubleheader played in Tennessee. In the opener, Steve Strong had a pair of doubles while Josh Green and Gabe Schlappi each recorded RBI's. (GAME 1 BOXSCORE) Mike Reed went 3-for-5 in the nightcap. Jeremy Howard drilled a two-run homer and had 3 RBI total, Green doubled in two runs, and Mark Wood doubled with an RBI. (GAME 2 BOXSCORE)

March 8, at Wilmington
The Yellow Jacket baseball team began the 1997 schedule with a 12-2 non-conference win at Wilmington. Cedarville banged out 12 hits, five for extra bases, while two pitchers held the Quakers to just two hits over nine innings. Gabe Schlappi went 3-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored. Josh Green and Matt Neubert each had two hits and two RBI's while Mark Wood tripled in three runs. Sean Moore got the victory on the mound allowing an earned run on one hit in five innings. Jay Clark closed out the final four frames giving up an unearned run on one hit. The Jackets bolted to an 11-0 lead which included a six-run outburst in the fifth inning. (BOXSCORE)
