May 7, Lee (NCCAA National Invitational)
Host Lee smoked Cedarville, 9-0, in the season finale at the NCCAA National Invitational. Only Tim Haylett at No. 3 singles stretched his match to three sets after winning the first set. The Jackets, Lee, and Greenville then played a flighted event. Cedarville had players in two singles finals and one in doubles, but were unable to come up with any winners.
May 7, Greenville (NCCAA National Invitational)
Greenville IL trimmed the Yellow Jackets, 5-4, at the NCCAA National Invitational in Cleveland, TN. No. 4 Zach Ruffin (1-6, 6-3, 6-3) and No. 6 Reuben Duncan (6-3, 6-2) were singles winners. Ruffin and Matt Taylor (9-7) plus Duncan and Anthony Torlone (8-2) notched doubles wins.
May 1-3, NAIA GREAT LAKES SECTIONAL
The Yellow Jackets placed third out of six schools in the NAIA Great Lakes Sectional Tournament. Walsh won it with 30 points and was trailed by Transylvania (23), Cedarville (9), Findlay (7), Tiffin (2), and Malone (1). Carl Weise won a pair of singles matches for Cedarville. Brian Wilbur, the No. 6 seed, Matt Taylor, and Anthony Torlone all won first round matches before bowing out. In doubles, Matt Taylor and Zach Ruffin were the only Jackets to win a match.
April 29, WILMINGTON
Cedarville had little problem during a 9-0 non-conference win against Wilmington. The hosts won all but one match in straight sets. Yellow Jacket singles winners were Brian Wilbur, Tim Haylett, Matt Taylor, Zach Ruffin, Anthony Torlone, and Reuben Duncan. Doubles pairings were Taylor-Carl Weise, Ruffin-Torlone, and Duncan-Brett Cooley.
April 26, at Bluffton Invitational
The Yellow Jackets picked up two wins and a loss in this flighted event. Host Bluffton won it with 24 points and was followed by Cedarville (19), Thomas More (7), and Wilmington (4). Brian Wilbur won both of his matches at No. 1 singles as did Tim Haylett at No. 6. The No. 3 doubles team of Anthony Torlone and Reuben Duncan also won their flight with a pair of victories.
April 22, at Tiffin
Cedarville breezed to their third straight win with an 8-1 Mid-Ohio Conference decision at Tiffin. The Jackets' four singles winners -- Brian Wilbur, Zach Ruffin, Tim Haylett, and Reuben Duncan -- lost only five games total among them. Cedarville also picked up another singles point by forfeit. Doubles winners were Carl Weise-Matt Taylor, Anthony Torlone-Tim Haylett, and Reuben Duncan-Brett Cooley.
April 21, MOUNT ST. JOSEPH
Cedarville blanked Mount St. Joseph, 9-0, for the second time this spring in a non-conference match. The Yellow Jackets won all nine matches in straight sets and lost no more than four games in seven of the matches. Singles winners were Brian Wilbur, Carl Weise, Matt Taylor, Zach Ruffin, Anthony Torlone, and Tim Haylett. Winning doubles pairings were Wilbur-Weise, Ruffin-Haylett, and Reuben Duncan-Brett Cooley.
April 19, MALONE
The Yellow Jackets crushed Mid-Ohio Conference foe Malone, 8-1, to end a six-match losing streak. Cedarville singles winners were Brian Wilbur (6-0, 6-1), Carl Weise (6-2, 6-3), Matt Taylor (6-3, 6-3), Zach Ruffin (7-5, 6-1), and Tim Haylett (6-3, 6-0). The Jackets swept the doubles with points coming from Wilbur-Weise (6-1, 6-1), Taylor-Ruffin (7-6, 4-6, 6-1), and Anthony Torlone-Reuben Duncan (6-3, 6-0).
April 18, TAYLOR
Taylor coasted to an 8-1 non-conference victory at Cedarville. Tim Haylett at No. 6 singles picked up the lone Yellow Jacket point with a 6-3, 6-3 win. The Trojans swept six of the other eight matches in straight sets.
April 12, WALSH
Defending Mid-Ohio Conference champion Walsh smoked Cedarville, 9-0, in a match moved indoors to Springfield due to rain. The Cavaliers won all nine matches in straight sets.
April 11, OTTERBEIN
Otterbein edged the Yellow Jackets, 5-4, in a non-conference match. Three-set matches were not the problem this time as Cedarville won three of four. Singles winners were No. 1 Brian Wilbur (6-7, 7-6, 6-4) and No. 6 Brett Cooley (6-1, 6-1). In doubles, points came from No. 1 Brian Wilbur-Carl Weise (7-6, 6-7, 7-5) and No. 3 Anthony Torlone-Reuben Duncan (7-5, 4-6, 6-3).
April 5, at Findlay
Findlay won three out of four three-set matches en route to a 5-4 Mid-Ohio Conference win against the Yellow Jackets. Cedarville won the bottom three singles matches with Zach Ruffin (6-2, 2-6, 6-2), Anthony Torlone (7-5, 6-1), and Tim Haylett (6-2, 6-3) coming out on top. The lone doubles point came from No. 3 Anthony Torlone and Reuben Duncan (8-3).
April 4, BLUFFTON
Failure to win three-set matches was the problem for the Yellow Jackets again in a 7-2 non-conference loss at home to Bluffton. The Beavers won all three of the lengthy matches. Cedarville picked up singles wins from No. 4 Zach Ruffin (6-4, 6-1) and No. 6 Tim Haylett (6-1, 6-3).
April 3, WITTENBERG
Wittenberg handed host Cedarville a 7-1 non-conference setback in the first outdoor match played on campus this spring. No. 6 singles player Tim Haylett won his match, 6-4, 7-5. The No. 1 doubles team of Brian Wilbur and Carl Weise were up 6-2, 2-6, 3-1 when play was suspended. The Yellow Jackets lost three three-set matches.
March 31, at Mount St. Joseph
The Yellow Jackets cruised to a 9-0 non-conference victory in Cincinnati. Singles players Brian Wilbur, Carl Weise, Matt Taylor, Zach Ruffin, Anthony Torlone, and Brett Cooley all won their matches in straight sets. Winning doubles pairings were Wilbur-Weise, Taylor-Ruffin, and Torlone-Reuben Duncan.
March 27, at Northern Kentucky
Northern Kentucky thumped Cedarville 6-1 in a non-conference match. The Yellow Jackets lone point came from No. 2 player Carl Weise by default. He was leading 4-6, 6-2, 3-0 when NKU's coach pulled his player from the match for disciplinary reasons.
March, 25, OHIO WESLEYAN
Cedarville picked up its first win of the season by nipping Ohio Wesleyan, 4-3, in a non-conference match played indoors in Springfield. It was the Jackets first win over the Bishops in four years. The team match was tied with the No. 2 doubles team of Matt Taylor and Zach Ruffin on the court trailing 6-4 in their 8-point pro-set match. They rallied for an 8-6 victory to give the hosts the win. Brian Wilbur and Carl Weise were 9-7 winners at No. 1 doubles. In singles, Wilbur (6-2, 6-1), Weise (7-6, 7-6), and Anthony Torlone (6-3, 6-1) nailed down victories.
March 21, vs. Merrimack (at Hilton Head, SC)
Merrimack MA pinned a 7-2 loss on Cedarville during a spring break match played in South Carolina. Brian Wilbur posted a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles while Anthony Torlone was a 4-6, 6-0, 6-3 victor in the No. 5 slot.
March 1, at Transylvania
The Yellow Jackets opened the season with a 7-2 loss at Transylvania in an indoor match played in Kentucky. Cedarville's two points were in doubles with wins coming from the No. 1 tandem of Brian Wilbur and Carl Weise (8-5), and the No. 3 pairing of Anthony Torlone and Reuben Duncan (9-7).
